- Taking a trip to the tip of the "Thumb" in the State of Michigan gave us more than we would have ever imagined. Of course everyone knows about the #greatlakes, but not everyone knows about an abandoned lighthouse 2.5 miles OUT INTO THE LAKE 😮😮😮😮😮😮 This week Our not so perfect life takes #rvliving to a WHOLE NEW LEVEL as we had the humble opportunity to film out on this vacant reef light, out on Lake Huron. If you have heard the term #puremichigan than something like this should soon be headlined if Captain Lou and the Port Austin Reef Light Association are able to finish restoring this ghostly structure. Being in an RV FULL TIME offers some of the most splendid opportunities and seeing this unbelievable structure was a real treat. Let us take a moment to say this: the FULL TIME RV life is a choice that we have made for our lives, but that does not mean that your life is lacking in any way at all. BE ENCOURAGED that you can do the simple things in life, and reap EXTRAORDINARY results - and we show you that in this episode. Hope you can ENJOY!!

How heartwarming. My son is 34 and he's always throwing out one-liners or starting sentences with "Remember when we ..." and references a trip we took when he was your kids' ages to a nature center, museum, festival, scenic spot, a simple yet bonding activity like skipping rocks, or something stupid and laughable that you did as an adult (they never forget those things for some reason). It's not an understatement to say that you are creating memories for a lifetime. Enjoy and cherish them.
Thank you Jim - this is really quite meaningful. Those are the hopes that we have for our kids as well. That they cherish these moments and share them together for a lifetime. Not just that, but share with their own children someday the same sense of adventure we have tried to show them. Such an encouraging comment!!! We wished we had a triple heart icon to tap!!!

It was suuuper cool and eerie all at once. Glad you enjoyed the video. Such a historical place that was waaaaay out in the lake. When you see it from shore it’s hard to believe that it is over 80’ tall from the top of the water to the top of the tower. It looks like a dot way out there.

Yeah, Lake Huron is a real special place for sure. So many cool, small towns along the shore. A must see for any summer traveller!!

If you have never been to the Great Lakes, we totally recommend it. Beautiful, vast, and seemingly like the ocean.

It was truly a special treat Evelyn.. and could not agree more. Not allowing that to simply rot into the lake and restored for future generations is such a cool thing. To have touched history with our own hands was pretty incredible. We'll let her know that you liked the finished desk project!!! Now... are you making sweet memories with those you love the most????

@@Ournotsoperfectlife my first duty station was in Michigan. I was stationed at Selfrgid Air Force Base. The Navy use to have a couple squadrons there. I spent a lot of off time on the water.

Hey there @ladyofmyheart!!! First, thanks for watching the vid!! This is called the Port Austin Lighthouse. It’s a reef light that is out in the lake roughly 2.5 miles. Are you a lighthouse fan???
@@Ournotsoperfectlife very much so. Especially in Michigan. I'm on a journey to visit all 129 in the state. Planned on going to port Austin in the spring!
