I'm really glad he's getting time in the spotlight. Started making the deck 2 years ago and I've been slowly fine tuning and spicing it up to what it is now.
i have been working on improving my nath deck and this game just makes me love the direction my deck is going that much more. its an incredibly fun deck to play and quite strong and seeing him get so much love across multiple channels is super awesome
This video was GAS, great game! Just a check though, the commentary implied that you were using Rankle as an "on attack" trigger. But it's an "on damage" trigger. Pretty sure it didn't make a difference to the game, mind! You guys rock!
During the turn at 20:20 Adam could have won the game on the spot by instead reanimating spellseeker, finding demonic tutor to grab witherbloom apprentice to combo with his chain of smog.
Damn that would've been sweet. Way to big brain for me though lol. I'll have to remember lines like that if i get into a situation like this again. That would be sweet to pull off
Not a usual title? I mean, if you are recommending this video so much I will watch it! Thanks a million Joseph! Edit: Your intro says as much, its a special episode! I'm excited
I know they somewhat addressed it in the beginning but I didn't see Adam discarding any cards off Liliana's +1 anytime he used it and only 1 Rankle discard. That's a huge advantage he got during the game. Granted it was the lack of other players having cards that really did it, but that seems really crazy to overlook.
Awesome you noticed. I've been really working on learning to plan my my turns and use my mana as efficiently as I can so that when I have universal discard effects out, like the planeswalkers and rankle, I don't get hit as hard as my opponents.
I gave it a re-watch and I'm pretty sure he was just empty-handed all those times? It can be a bit hard to follow what's going on with rankle/geier reach/chains and they don't narrate every little case of chains making him mill etc, but as far as I can tell he was just playing his 1 naturally drawn card per turn for most of the game.
Would be lying if I said that I watch a ton of CeDH but I'm dumbfounded that this is the first time I've seen ghostly pilferer played anywhere, including more casual tables as well.
@13:30 did Moo not have imps mischief in hand to redirect the pact to his own imps mischief? Thought he had that win but must have not seen him discard the mischief.
@15:40 couldn't MOO win the game there? Create infinite mana, cast the commander, tap it to discard and draw in response to the WGD, draw the Sunscorched Desert, and win with that land?
Anything you do during the loop has to be at instant speed, which doesn't include playing Anje or a land. Moo would have to have a way to restart the loop either in hand or on the top of the deck. I'm honestly kind of surprised they went for it with no way to win in hand, even just an X spell to kill with.
No, because the WGD is an instant speed loop, so you can't play sorcery speed spells like Anje, or a land like Desert in the middle of the loop. You really need Anje on the battlefield before entering the loop to draw the deck, or you need a big mana payoff in hand, like Torment of Hailfire. So, the Dance of the Dead wouldn't have won the game anyway.
When I went infinite it was more for the lulz then to try and win. at that point we couldn't keep any cards in hand so I was just top decking every turn. I figured might as well do what I can before I have to discard my last reanimator rather than do nothing. - Moo
Anje was my first "combo"/non-creature damage deck. The mechanic is a lot of fun to play with. I am curious, do you think it is too fragile for ecdh? or is it worth trying to pump it up into a competitive deck? I'm currently not running any lotus or mox stuff, no shock lands.
I was wondering this, too. If it was their second draw, and they didn’t have any cards in hand, then chains would make them mill. However if it was their second draw and they did have at least one card in hand, then I believe narset would prevent the draw and thus prevent chains from triggering 🤷♂️🤷♂️
It will make me love Nath? Jokes on you, I already love him! My favorite decks in EDH are Nath, Tergrid, and Windgrace.. In legacy I play loam pox. I have a specific taste I think.. Great games!!
I love playing black stax pieces like contamination and oppression! I think I will turn my Tergrid deck into Nath. If not for the very simple reason that Tergrid is quite cumbersome to play online via apps like spelltable, and that Nath gives sac fodder for contamination :)))
@@7upac Yeah, nath is great for contamination, as well as things like smokestack as well! That is a good idea! He will also draw less hate (probably) than Tergrid will!
She can hose mana dork heavy decks if you drop her early and she is a really strong combo with yawgmoth that acts as a card draw boardwipe. Pay 1 life to draw a card ping a creature down. It's an easily tutorable combo with all the creature tutoring effects and both cards are relatively strong by themselves.
finally a win without a stupid infinite combo. All cedh decks looks the same honestly with the basics 2-3 cobos, only the commander changes. Was a great game congrats
I have made quite an effort to have most of my cedh decks win through combat damage. Stax, control, some combo. But mainly they all have a very good route to take that wins by swinging out
I enjoy the Chanel and all but it’s just not fun anymore seeing every deck win almost the exact same way with oracle and consultation or the dragon and animate dead

Nate having to actually double check what Oracle did other than win the game fucking sent me

That final swing was nothing short of RUTHLESS.
An emblem in a cEDH game? That's plain rich X) Great content as always!
I've actually got that emblem out more times than my friends would like to admit. No one expects or can deal with the spicy planeswalker tech lol.

Wouldn't rankle's discard trigger activate before the draw trigger? So opponents wouldn't need to discard the card they draw in the 2nd mode?
Rankle's triggers resolve top down so yes, you"d have to discard, sac and then draw.
Correct but if you're referring to a time when there was a Chains or Narset in play, obviously those mess it up.
Why is the Nath decklist only 94 cards (excluding the commander)?
