Three interesting decks walk into a bar and sit down. A fourth deck walks in and says “I’ll have the usual.” The bartender hands the deck a Consultation/Oracle martini, and the other three decks leave after realizing they weren’t welcome at this establishment.
I didn't have an extra token so I had a flipped over card sleeve representing the summoning sick token. It's a bit tough to see on my playmat. I used that sleeve to represent the summoning sick token each turn and added dice to the real token to represent the ones that could then swing.
At 9:03 Jordan chose to pay for the Proctor trigger, just to put in an Utopia Sprawl. Was this Jordan not thinking the play through, or was it concern for counters?
I'm a bit confused on the question. Are you referring to Jordan paying for the strict proctor tax so that his kodama trigger would resolve, allowing him to put a permanant into play?
@@Sliver_Boi What Griffin said. I don't recall him using the mana for anything, so it might not have mattered. If he wanted an extra land drop or a card with MV higher than 2, I understand denying the trigger, but at 1 or 0 MV it would seem to be better to let the ability get triggered and just naturally play the card. All that to ask, was it an intentional choice, did it matter, or xyz?
@@dantebeleren oh gotcha. Not sure exactly what he was thinking with that. Probably just a new card problem, rushed the play and didn't think about the mana desparity with the play
It really felt like people were intentionally playing into Sygg's trigger. Like people were shocking in lands with zero intent to use them that turn cycle. I know that's usually just the safe play in Commander, but not when it plays into Sygg triggers.
I didn't expect to see sygg but that was definitely a power level teched commander! You drew like 5+ cards for 2 mana with all the sylvan library, fetches, and spells that cost life. Very interesting!
@casuallycompetitivemtg any changes you would make to Kodama // Vial Smasher post MH2, I recently built this (minus the few cards I didn't have being substituted for similar affects), but I added a Yavimaya Cradle of Growth to help with Arbor Elf, and added a Dauthi Voidwalker. any sugggestions on other cards?
The Sygg deck was awesome, totally fantastic value and it ran so smoothly. This is simply my opinion and plenty of people disagree, but Fish/Consult isn’t casually competitive, even if you aren’t playing Fetches/Duals etc. It also makes for really boring, repetitive content (which this channel usually avoids). Not meaning to be too negative-this channel is great and usually the games are very fun and interesting
I totally agree with you when you say that Fish/Consult is not semi- or "casually" competitive. It is simply the strongest wincon in cEDH and should not be played in a environment called "semi-competitive". I only disagree when you say that usually the games are very fun. Want to know the reason? Usually Fish/Consult nearly always wins here. Even in one of the Tribal-Episodes, at the end you saw Thassas Consultation make the "Merfolk-Tribe" (Tymna=Merfolk) winning. It's just so fucking boring.
At 09:06 when Utopia Sprawl entered the battle field he needed to choose a colour. But wouldnt that be counteres by Strict Proctor too or does this not trigger because its "As Utopia sprawl enters..." and not "When Utopia Sprawl enters"?
Yes, you can respond to moving from one step or phase to another. Like if you wanted to tap down someone’s creatures before combat you could react to passing from main phase to combat
The exact wording of the narration is incorrect. But I assume it means as soon as he got priority after the Sygg trigger resolved in his end step, he chose to cast Vampiric.

In other words, the RC fucking sucks. I'm in their discord server just to get TO banned, and even they have admitted that TO is a problematic card, that it's unfair to play against, and that it's not fun; even if I have proven that the card violates most of the lines they have on why a card should be banned, and even if it sees both play in both cEDH and casual EDH as a lame easy way to win, the RC has said exactly what I quoted at the beginning. That they don't care about thassa's oracle. jordan's plays actually make me mad. that toxic deluge to remove the stax pieces preventing thoracle into tapping out to have no response vs thoracle was straight up kingmaking. not to mention him randomly shocking in lands and then not using the mana - why? Honestly, the main reason people have massive issue with thoracle in cedh/high power imo is because people dont main board stifle/etb hate. Stifle effects are just good to have in general, especially if they are a part of normal counterspells, like with void slime, tales end, and whirlwind denial.
