So glad you asked for thoughts on this Danni. As a Christian, I would have let her have it and thanked God for all the wonderful things he allowed me to find. I am learning to be more selfless. Some days, the struggle is real! You found some great stuff!❤❤
IMHO when someone else gets something you had your eye on - let it go, let it be - and bless them. You WILL be blessed with something else, and maybe their need was greater. 😊
LOVED everything you picked up. When the lady looked at the same jewelry as you yes say something if you want to but, be nice about it. Let go it be a piece that could be something special for someone in her life. You can always find something better. ❤
Unless they had got the jewellery piece out of the cabinet for you and she started looking at it directly from your pile you have no claim over it They got it out for her - she had first dibs and she had the yes or no choice Imagine her side of the story ‘ I was just looking at some jewellery they had got out of the case for me and some woman said ‘I was going to look at that’ and clearly expected me to hand it over - so I just left’
I never would take anything that someone else looked at & wanted…no matter if I had wanted to look at it…the other day a lady looked into my cart and complimented a Kate Spade purse I’d picked up……I said. “Take it”…she said her daughter would love it….why not?
I really like that foot. It is perfect for Boho Decor. Great haul today.
The clerk should have serviced first. But with that said being from the South, I would have just said, "Bless your heart" 😂❤
You have to speak up politely and calmly and say you were there ahead of her. That’s not confrontational. The worker should’ve shown only to one shopper at a time. That’s the point of the counter! Speak up for yourself; it’s not being pushy.
In my opinion, you do not have 1st rights to everything in the jewelry counters. Ask for what you want most first and hope you get to see everything. If you’re shopping the shelves, you don’t have first pick of everything just because you were there first. There really is plenty to go around for everyone…you just have to relax and enjoy the process.
I am a jewelry fiend...aka junkie. I love the hunt and scoring fabulous deals. You are definitely learning and listen to your inner voice. Take care and keep the camera rolling.
Thanks!
Thank you!
Helpful hint...when you forget your loop...take a pic, then zoom in.
They are really only to help one person at a time. The others have to wait until you’re done. Courtesy ❤
Dani, I’m glad there wasn’t a confrontation but if it had of happened i think,i would have let her take the piece of jewelry. Nothing is worth a fuss! Glad it turned out good though. Loved what you found! Thanks for taking us along and teaching us! ❤
I love watching you learn about jewelry. I’ve learned almost all resellers only purchase individual items that are signed.
I used to have a booth and wish I had realized that back then.
Thanks for your fantastic vids! 💜
I own that very Williams Sonoma tagine. You were smart to grab it!
the coned casserole type dish is a targine, (spelled wrong probably), it gathers the moisture from the meat while cooking and bastes the food as it cooks. I cook a full chicken in mine, and rice in the bottom at times, with veggies put in half way through so they don't get soggy but cooking in wine or seasonings is wonderful with these as it permeates the meat by constantly basting it by dripping back down on the meat.
I would have been happy for the lady and said “ good for you. Enjoy “
A torc, also spelled torq or torque, is a large rigid or stiff neck ring in metal, made either as a single piece or from strands twisted together. The great majority are open at the front, although some have hook and ring closures and a few have mortice and tenon locking catches to close them. That's the definition on the internet but I just call them choker rings that you can slip a pendent on. Great video
I bought a whole dinner set of that lady Carlyle new with the tags still on it from a lady on market place for 40.00! It is beautiful!
Re torque: Good find! I have a narrower one in sterling. It is the piece I’ve worn the most because I change out the pendants.
The texture under that marbled ceramic tray is the impression from the clay into the canvas mat used to roll out the clay on. It's probably a student piece.
Here in Indianapolis Goodwill has completely discontinued Senior Day. And raised their prices to boot!
I like in Indianapolis and I can't find anything worth purchasing here. May I ask, which Goodwills do you shop at? Thank you.
As far as the jewelry piece goes, I would let the person have it. You may have had it on your list to look at, but she asked first. It would be the same if you were going down an aisle and saw a plate at the end you were going to look at, but another person picked it up first. You wouldn't say "I was going to look at that", because she would say the same. It's just a minute too late scenario as how I look at it.
My answer to your jewelry question When the clerk is helping you & the line is forming behind you pick (pull)everything you think you want & make a pile. Step a side & take a closer look (after she’s pulled everything ) then make your final pics. Just like Dawn does.
They won't let us pull more than a few pieces!
@@TheNICHELady They will let you pull anything you want if you say you want to purchase them. Then you can change you mind later or at the cashier.
@@vampyvintage3111ha! Sneaky, but maybe necessary, if Goodwill won't play fair and give her a fair turn!
Nope they will pull a couple pieces at a time - then put them in a basket and take them if you want them.
@@TheNICHELady Are you saying that the employees at the thrift store will only let you look at two pieces, and then they go to the next customer?
I never pay full price for things. It’s too much fun to hunt and hit the auctions and get great deals. One of the best deals I’ve ever gotten…an $8K LeVian Ceylon sapphire and diamond bracelet….full halos. Less than $1K. I dared hubby to say no. Hehe. He loves the auctions, too. We just got an amazing, huge, perfect condition Pulaski cabinet for $80. I nearly cried. It’s so much fun!
I love bookends, too but I have so many books. I'm glad you got those. With the Paris Olympics coming up, I think anything French looking may be cool!
Let them have the piece, it’s not worth arguing over. I’m not confrontational either and the few times I have it makes me feel so anxious it’s just not worth it. Love your videos…I learn so much from you
Dearest Dani, I believe the lion is the same kitty that is in front of the New York Public Library, there is a pair
It looks like one of the same lions at the New York City Public Library! I have a drawing of that place and wanted to shout out "Get it!"
Whoever looks at and handles a piece gets to decide if they want it or not while it is in their hands. If they put it back, it's fair game for someone else to buy. Doesn't matter how long you waited...she had the right to decide first. If the situation were reversed, you'd feel the same way.
I would never jump ahead of someone else who was waiting. I was literally pointing out the pieces I wanted to see when she interrupted to ask for the pearls.
Great finds! As for the jewelry counter dilemma, I'm not sure what I would do. I don't like confrontations either but I can be stubborn too.
I have the small white canister with flowers and spoon. I love it for my ground coffee.
20:30 unique shape but it was thin 31:29 pretty freshwater pearls
I believe it is the year of the dragon! Great haul Dani!
That pottery from Tunisia is a ‘tagine pot’ it is used in cooking middle eastern foods in the oven. YUM 😊
Been collecting jewelry for years. It is first come to brouse first serve. If it was a very long counter and there were 2 clerks that might be different. Some people are not collectors and don't know the the drill. And some sellers could be trying to hone in on something.
I would pick all the jewelery I wanted to see then the others could look. Some nice finds though.😃🇨🇦
I’m in Southwest Virginia. No color tag discount, no senior discount, and I almost passed out over the $19.99 used Vera Bradley.
Loved your video today❤️ I always save your shopping trips for bedtime. That way I can relax and watch them without any interruptions. You now have me looking at jewelry and it's so much fun.
Did not know what a tort was, but now I will be on the lookout for one. I Love your videos. You have been a reseller for 40 years. Would love to hear what it was like back then. 😊
Hi Danni! I love that store! The clear glass shallow dish that you thought was a flower was actually a candle arrangement dish. Dinner candles in the 3 holes and arrange flowers around it. Can be silk flowers as long as you don't light the candles. It would make a beautiful spring centerpiece with some soft pastel flowers and white tapers. ❤❤❤😊
It was nit a flower frog .a princess house piece and allows 3 types of candles holder..my sister sold princess house and have two of them😊
Hi Danni. The Tunisian cooking pot is called a Tagine (Tajine) They cook with this in Morocco, Tunisia and other African and ME countries.
I think you should keep it and cook with it. 😊
We get 30 percent off on wend. They charge really high and they are so crowded. Cool jewelry!
The Tunisian steamer is called a tagine. They are hard to come by in the US. But chicken tika made in a tangine is soooo good.
So my precious boy, Koopa (cat) will sit with me… mostly lay with me and watch your videos! It’s the cutest thing. I believe he likes the motion of your hand. He loves hands! 😂❤❤
The tea set at 16:20 or so is in French. Tea pot says Tea For Me, Sucre is Sugar and Crème is cream. 😊
If that amber bowl has 14 petals then its likely Blenko. You may want to go back and get that after you check.
Great video, I wish we had Goodwill‘s like that where I live in California. Most of our Goodwill‘s, well are, less than nice to put it nicely lol I have to say I kinda like the foot, might’ve been an eye catcher in a booth with shoes. Looking forward to the next video, keep up the great work….Roni
The piece of jewellry was in her hands not yours. I wouldn't have saaid anything.
I really think the clerk is the one to let you see the jewelry first if you were there first. That’s a hard situation. If I clearly saw it first I would of said something but on the other hand I have been surprised at myself sometimes at being pushy. Then afterwards I felt bad about it. Like others have said if we were meant to have it, it would of gone smoothly. I do think if I saw it first I would of said something! It’s not worth fighting over or causing a scene! These days there’s always a possibility she would of tripped me as I left the store!😂 Seriously though we have to pick our battles these days. I’ve also notice down the line God usually gives us something even better!
You did get some really neat goodies though! I love the idea of a Torque! (Had to look it up to spell it right! Looks nice!
I love your channel but rarely comment. If she had been the better person she would have given you the piece to see first but if she had taken it you just smile and say I hope you enjoy it. Being non confrontational is nothing to be ashamed of😊❤
Loved that grape bowl you left behind.😮
I believe at 21.37 on your video that that bowl on the stand is fire and light!
I can’t tell because I couldn’t see it very clear but at 25 minutes it looks like to Waterford champagne flutes. Those are good money. I saw you one time a long time ago in a video you passed up a lamp that look like full coral that was in 1960s or 70s lamp that sells online for about $500. I laughed when you passed it up because you said you just weren’t into it. I have one in red.
The purse you picked up runs about $75-$100 on eBay
I would let them have it. There is more out there. Now, my daughters would say excuse me but... Enjoy the videos.
Also you did great with the torque I saw that & was hoping you’d get it. Also keep your eye out for a thinner version (torque).
Great job Dani you are developing a better eye for Jewelry💜💜💜
That second knot looked like a 💩. 🤣🤣🤣
Yeah. It was kind of ugly and gross.
I was thinking it but couldn't say it! LOL!
@@TheNICHELady It did and gross.🙂
Lol😂
Ha ha I thought so too💩😂😂
"There's always more stuff"
Definitely not worth a confrontation 😉
The words on the 3-piece teapot/creamer set are in French. The ones on the teapot say "tea for me".
I think Noah might like to try a recipe with a tangine
I love the foot ❤
I learn as much from what you leave behind as what you buy. I bought that same FTD little cannister you turned down. Up shot. I paid a dollar and sold it to a friend for 5. I'm learning though P.S. there is always more stuff. Let her have it.
My answer would be that as you were there first and everyone else was lining up behind you; you should have first dibs. It doesn’t mean that you are being rude or anything like that, it is courteous for the other shoppers to wait their turn. I would have spoken up. Great video and wonderful haul. Take care and God bless. Sincerely, Diane from Missouri.😊❤
I’ve collected a few pairs of antique book ends!
I don’t really know how I would react or what is the right thing to do in that situation. In all honesty, I usually react in situations like based on how I’m feeling that day, which is not good. Still working on that. Love all the jewelry! I’m going to try selling it instead of large items as I don’t have a lot of storage, so thank you for going through the jewelry like you do!❤
I would have let them have it. You did get some beautiful pieces. One less really doesn't matter ❤
The Tunisan Pottery is a Tagine, used for cooking . Have one myself.
❤ Interesting video with lots of wonderful jewelry. Thanks for the fun.
Love watching your videos my friend!! Love seeing what you find!! You are the best!! God bless you and your family!! 💖🌺🥰❤️🌹💕💙💜🙏🙏🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋😊😊
In all probability, she had heard you say something about it and figured you know what was expensive or not and just got to a cashier first. Bless her for being honest. What irritates me is when I stand there waiting for help for an extended period of time, the only one there, and another customer comes up and gets assistance before me. I just see red.
I love your videos, always educational. The lady should have waited for her turn imho.
Also, do you ever use the magnifier on your phone to check for signatures, etc?
Here in Fort Worth Texas we don't even get colors of day except on clothes and I don't buy a lot of that
Goodwill is privately owned. They are not non-profit. They are resellers. Only difference is, they get their merch free.
That is incorrect! There is a national corporation that licenses or franchises to other regions and all the regions are run separately but they are all Goodwill and all are 501d3 non profits.
The sales lady should be helping one person at a time, and that was you. When you were finished then it would be her turn. That was very rude of her.
I purchased that same blue bottle at my Goodwill in the past year. I have a cobalt blue bottle collection and it was cheap.
Call me crazy I'd of bought that lion and tattooed foot🤷🏻♀️😁❤
Well, we'd be crazy together lol i loved the foot!
Your so right Danni,Id say what would Jesus do and in that case yes i think he would gladly give it to them and walk away😊❤🙏
The leaves brooch, can have a mark in the needle, check for marks all over it.
You found some great items. 😊
wow they offer great discounts in your area where i'm at senior day is one day a month and only 10%
It is sometimes hard to do what Jesus would do but I usually feel better if I do that. Remember your saying “there is always more stuff”. You got some great things!
I agree about store discounts being a good marketing tool. We get a 6% discount here and you have to ask for it. I shopped at different GW’s for several months before one of the clerks mentioned it, otherwise I would have never known about it. We have no color discounts either. The Savers I travel out of town to go to has a Sr. day with a 30% discount but it’s 240 miles RT so I don’t get there very often. My local SA has color discounts but of course I rarely find anything to buy with that color. Yard sales are my best thrifting places and that season is coming-soon I hope!
You Learned Good Danni. 😊
Wow discount everyday. Not here in So Cal. Only 15% on Tues. The glass knot is sold at Home Goods. 🥰💖
In Tennessee it is 10 per cent on Mondays don't get to go much I watch you
Love jade! If you touch real jade it should feel cold or cool. Great haul all the way around!!!❤ Love the big Coro pin!! Oh my. BTW I don't like confontations either! Not worth the stress.
As always, great finds🥰
The foot?? I have a word. Whoa🫣🫣🤦♀️🤦♀️🤭🤭🤭😭😭😭😂
When you see something, say something! My firefighter son taught me this. I think it works in many situations, not just for first responder situations.
Let it go! With love.
love this
Nice post Dani!!
I still ship snow globes all the time. I don’t know why people pass them up. I have even shipped them to Europe with no problem as long as they are securely packed.
There are some that are worth it but I call it the hassle factor - a lot of extra work and usually not extra profits.
Lady Carlyle is a great pattern!
It's a cake plate.
Hi! FYI at 3:40 you showed a stacked bronze monkey statue. If my hunch is correct, this piece is not from Amen Hardy home, but Amen WARDY home. They have a store in Aspen, CO where I lived for several years. So this piece undoubtedly is super expensive. Probably in the neighborhood of $600+. But worth a $100 pick up? Not sure about that one. Like you said, Monkeys are not as strong anymore. ;)
I would probably agree with you! WWJD? There is enough jewelry for everyone right?
Tesco in the UK is a huge nationwide supermarket chain that has a brilliant homewares section.
Another fun video
Great buys, whew 😥 I happy you realized that you didn't show the jewelry, I believe you did the right thing as to not be confrontational , people are frightening these days. Stay safe.
In Orange County California there is only 10% off on Tuesday and Sundays . Also, if you temember, because a lot of Goodwill employees forget to let you know, that of you put in a phone number every time you purchase, you can earn money off for a Goodwill purchase. Just got a 5.00 off my next purchase ( if I remember to out in my phone number next time I purchase).
