I kid you not , I just saved one I found highway side in Tennessee. Big fella was happy to go for a ride to the wildlife facility , sat in my lap the whole ride
I saw one in west-central Indiana one winter and the Indiana Audubon Society said I saw a Red-Tailed. Only thing was, I had seen hundreds of Red-Tails all my life and this bird has the rusty colored upper wings and a pale tail, almost white. Then later I found out they often wander further south and east in the winter and it was January. The way it flew low to the ground like it was floating was also not like a red-tailed hawk. Very slow flap and under the same conditions, red-tails flap three or four times very quickly, glide a few seconds and then repeat. Also looked slightly bigger than a red-tail.
I saw one of these birds the day before yesterday while hiking in northern California. The very thought of somebody shooting one of these majestic creatures makes my blood boil. PS- Another reason to hate those giant hideous wind turbines

Ever been to South texas....if so which cities
They should not be considered for fancory purposes they are very harmful if upset
Oh most definitely. They will attack a human when nests are approached.
Lots of people have been very successful with these hawks in falconry. This one looks stressed.
