Looks good but can the lock bar get bent as I'm not bothered about animals but it's people who are filling up our bins so is the L shape bar can it be pulled ?

I left one on a paper bin for nearly a year. The lock was rusty so couldn't get it off. It took hours to bend the bin and the metal to get it off.
