This is part 1 of our Siem Reap, Cambodia series and we were absolutely blown away by this place. The people were absolutely incredible and the city was really cool. There is a lot to do outside of visiting the temples and this should be a must visit if you are thinking about visiting Cambodia in your SE Asia travels. Please give us a like and subscribe to our channel, it really helps us out :) Cheers everyone!

Me blown away too.....when I visited SR couple months ago. And now I plan the next trip. Siem Reap is, as you said, much more than the temples. But this heritage of mankind has probably an influence to the whole area and its inhabitants. And the 400 square kilometer of the archeological park has so much nature to offer...could walk there forever... Take care and thanks for video!

Hi Chris & Jim. Thank you for posting this wonderful video. It was so nice to see some-one visit Siem Reap and see the places not many tourists bother to got to - Phnom Krom, the Landmine Museum etc, We have met so many that fly in one afternoon, do Angkor Wat for the sunrise, visit Ta Prohm (Tomb Raider temple), fly out on day 3, and have the nerve to say "yeah we went to Cambodia"! My wife, Kym, and I are going back in May for our 6th trip! We have a special connection with Phnom Krom. Our first visit was 2015 and we made a friend named Thy, who was a tuk-tuk driver at our small hotel. He understood us and took us to places visitors don't normally see. Thy invited us out to his home and his village at Phnom Krom, and we have been doing what we can to help the village ever since. We send money when we can, and always take 2nd hand clothes on our trips, and do "rice runs" where we buy 200-300kg of rice, break it down into 5kg bags, and take to the villagers. We love Cambodia, Siem Reap, and especially the people. Where will you be in May/June? Would love to catch up if you are in the area.

The Cambodian people are so incredibly kind hearted and we absolutely loved our visit. We would not hesitate to recommend Siem Reap and area to anyone.
We are currently back home in Canada, but do hope to get back to SE Asia in 2024. It would great to hear some of your stories.

Go there, get a good tuk-tuk driver, and explore! You won't be sorry. I have been 5 times, going back in May! Happy to give you any tips to help you. Just reach out.

I'm an old American searching for a cheap comfortable retirement destination where English is enough - and that seems to limit my choices. Surprisingly Siem Reap makes that possible ! Been looking & researching for more than a year and it stands out from about all other places given my criteria of not doing cold weather and no foreign languages. The USD is a bonus and some 20,000 expats also live there for some reason. -- The sight seeing tour was a neat experience for you.

Good job w prices. I like numbers. Was looking for tuk-tuk cost. Give me an idea: from point to point or hourly. Any other options? I doubt bus service or mass transit is lacking. There's a reason things are cheap. Doesn't make it a bad place at all, but offers an option that works for a lot of ppl, including me. I see the region of Vietnam, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Malaysia & Indonesia as a gourmet buffet. Each country is different, but the similarities are: pleasant ppl, good food, sunny beaches, great accomodations, relatively low crime compared with the west. 👍🇰🇭🇹🇭🇻🇳🇲🇾🇮🇩🇱🇦

🙏 so much for watching! If you book a hotel often they will pick you up for free and you will need to go back with a cost ours was free both ways. They have some set prices give or take for the temple loops.. usually between 15-35 usd for the whole day. Around twin it was a few dollars for small trips. Honestly they are so humble and we never felt like we had to negotiate because the price were very fair. Asia was amazing and the people make it even more special. It was nice to have affordable costs so we could stay longer 💕 we have more to come so stay tuned 🙏 happy travels, Chris and Jim
