I remember seeing a lil documentary of Aubrey between episodes and he showed his notebooks full of lyrics and he said he wanted to be a rapper one day and his rap name was his middle name "Drake" and I was like "well that's probably not gonna workout" only cuz it rarely does with these teen tv stars. I was certainly incorrect!
It’s actually disappointing how Hank wasn’t familiar with the Jimmy from Degrassi to Drake the rapper pipeline. That was such a huge deal to everyone who watched Degrassi and to now know Grace Helbig worked at Viacom during that timeframe it brings a whole new level to her lore.
As someone who grew up on the same iteration of Degrassi, I have never acknowledged "Jimmy" as Drake. He's always been Jimmy or Aubrey.
I remember the first time I saw him as Drake, I was like "wtf? That's not his name!" 😂
