You don't *need* to donate, so they're REALLY free free.
But, please donate if you can!
Donate if you use any of the plugins. Without question. I agree with White Sea Studios. The Dev does not require it. Even donate $1 per month. Keep this type of dev alive
Cute daughter you have, buddy! She really adorns you!!!
I also support analog obsession! Great stuff
Just 5$ per month, basically buy him a beer (or coffee) per month. I like tip jar system.
@@Zelectrocutica My point was that it's not (unlike what Wytse suggested) a REQUIREMENT to donate.
remember the oversampling option! (click the analog obsession text on the gui, as usual)
Tunca (Analog Obsession developer) is an inspiration for me, the fact that he’s just one guy but he can keep pumping out these plugin is amazing. I followed him since the days that he used to sell his plugin, and getting clowned in KVR because his “low effort” and buggy plugins, but since he does Patreon, his coding skill definitely exponentially improved. Nowadays, None of his plugin is buggy, and run with low CPU usage on my old macbook!
+1
I have been following his work since the selling phase too. I did have troubles with his "rare" plugin at that time (insane amount of cpu usage and a weird bug which made my input level loud as hell). After a year or so, he really fine tuned and matured his production.
Exactly and, in case there are any kind of bugs, it fix them really quick, and keep updating old plugins to his latest frameworks.
I read all the slack on some of the audio forums. At first I was a bit stunned, but actions speaks louder than words. He makes plugins, offers them for free and getting better all the time. Nothing wrong with that, everyone has to start some place.
Anyway, in my cases, it turned into admiration, I always have had a sweet spot for one man armies :)
yea but r they just reskinned digital eqs and compressors or does he actually try to simulate the hardware cuz i have my suspicions
@@natedavid3873 I've done some coding. He is definitely using Juce to program these plugins.
Juce is a developing platform for plugins and all kinds of audio related apps, it comes with simulations of all kinds of transistors and more, he might be using some of those, but still have to put them in right order, as the hardware unit. It's a lot of work to make plugins in general. SO actually you do not need to do your own measurements and simulations.
I don't see nothing wrong with using simulations that comes with Juce, I am 100% sure that many bigger companies does that too. The plugins are basically free and he is not promising anything, like "perfect emulation" and what else have we, which we are told by some of the big developers. Not even they do real simulations. Check out Dan Worralls channel for examples, like for example Harrison channel strip, which promises to sound like the hardware, but does eq cramping, which doesn't exist in analog world, has no saturation, like the hardware has. Basically it is absolutely nothing like the hardware and they are actually telling you that it is and charging you for it too.
So I really don't see why people are criticising him, for something he hasn't promised, like you do here. They are all free and nothing was promised. You should probably get yourself a copy of Plugin Doctor and then go to town on some of the developers who actually lie to you and also charges you money.
I installed a couple of his plugins. I like them. I also tried some of them in the past, didn't like them too much at that time, but he has advanced a lot.... And once again, they are free...
I absolutely love analog obsession. His plugins end up in my project more than most paid plugins, and I know it sounds crazy but my mixes’ quality has gone up since downloading his stuff, 100%.
You're absolutely right, I don't buy anything new unless it's an idea that i can actually use ! Analog Obsession is probably a mix engineer with the knowledge of building plugins he actually needs therefore he knows we would use and love them too.. awesome person!
Nice to see you taking another look at AOs plugins!
Recently there have been some plugin releases by him that are pretty original in concept which I like.
I would really love to see you doing an interview or something similar with him in the future, I bet that could help give some insights on the process behind making the software and clear up any questions you or other viewers might have :)
LETS FUCKING GO!! ive been waiting so long for a new analog obsession review
Waves gives us another Distortion plugin 🤦🏾♂️ meanwhile this guy drops another masterpiece compressor 😎 Analog Obsession is the best
Waves make every gear another copy of channel strip, compressor, eq, distortion with new GUI. In the end marketing obsession. 😅
I think Tuncas goal or intention is not making money out of this but he just likes/loves developing plugins. So he encounters the development process from a whole different perspective than the big companies. Not like "what am I gonna make this time that seems new (but probably isn't) so it can be sold well?" but more like "what am i gonna make this time that just works well when mixing and gives me opportunities that a may not have had before?"
Got it, tested it, kept it. I loaded Comper into a Master Bus just to add some color and yes - it gives nice and quick results. This speeds up my workflow, since I don't have to deal with more than one instance now. Thank you for the recommendation. ✌
I really love Analog Obsession, I try to keep the amount of plugins I use to a minimum but whenever I want to brighten up a track I reach for TREQ and whack up a few db of high gain and it always works a treat!
Been using them for 1.5 years because of the fact the he was like one of the first with 100% Apple silicon support. The sound amazing. I’ve done some of my best mixes with his plugins.
Another Analog Obsession patron here. I frequently use the plugins made by AO, and Comper is awesome. Other great plugins: OSS, BUSERse, Distox, Konsol, LoadEs, etc. I don't like some EQ plugins, though, because for EQ, I prefer a more modern UI. I mean, sometimes it takes too much time to read the UI "How are these knobs in the parametric UI arranged." Next to plugins from Analog Obsession, I use the cleaner TDR plugins. Another thing about AO is that some saturation plugins produce noise in the low end, even with oversampling turned on, but luckily not all.
Totally agree - I’ve been an AO supporter for a couple years. Great sounding plugins and a breath of fresh air (to your point re: larger manufacturers).
I like it. Gives a lot of flexibility. its funny because I bought a proVLII, upgraded the circuits and tubes and wanted it for my master buss but ended up most of the time stacking it in series and has been the big game changer for me. I know thats no a new idea (running comps in series) but I love this plugins coding design and the signal flow. sometimes we dont need forward thinking, we just need practical thinking, to get us there on a cleaner vector.
I just finished my review of this one, and it goes live on my channel on Friday.
I use Analog Obsession plugins on pretty much every mix.
And you are entirely right about a good plugin and not having much to say about them.
Forget all the buzz words and marketing gimmicks,
A good plugin sells itself.
I always wanted a plugin like that.. just to compressors in series.. so simple yet so genious.
LOVE this plugin, instant results, makes my sounds so upfront at the mix buss
You should do an interview with Analog Obsession! Love his stuff
That would be awesome.
Thanks for the video! Will try this plugin
Thanks to your videos I got a bunch of great plugins from analog obsession, and find the SSQ, BusterSE, Loades, and Fiver to be the best plugins I have ever used.
That track sounds like the last thing I heard in an Absinthe bar in Hamburg back in 2010. At least I think it does...
Analog Obsession makes great stuff and deserves all the praise he gets.
So glad you made a video about this! It's my new favourite compressor plugin and going on pretty much anything that needs compression. And yes, I also do that because I want to support Analog Obsession, like you I subscribed to his patreon for that reason. He just deserves it. And seriously, you should also do a video about his channel strip the CHANNEV! Or did you and did I miss it...?
I love my analog obsession but I’m sure there’s something with aliasing going on with the channev cause it’s so many different series wired together it adds some aliasing or disharmony in the harmonics after too many layered analog obsession plugins. I think. Maybe I’m wrong?
@@ssserotonin1373 I don't think you're wrong, depending on the chosen sample rate of your mix session. I had to look this up and while most of his plugins have a switchable oversampling, the CHANNEV has a light oversampling because of CPU usage. So yes, it is possible. I still love having it on vocals and drums and will be using it on bass as well in my next mix
@@musician1971a love what it does for se v7 vocals so far 🔥
The plugin sounds good and I yield to your expertise in understanding how it compares to others you've heard, but as someone new to mixing, and using Studio One 5, along with a few third party compressors/EQs, such as Waves Studio Rack, I would humbly ask you to follow up with a video that compares other compressors to this one so we can get that relationship.
I really love your honest and genuine feedback on plugins specially when you make it a little funny! cheers!
I also just discovered Analog Obsession. It’s honestly great stuff.
Following the idea of this plugin, I wonder what are your thougts on those EQs AO has been making, where it mixes different selection of curves of famous channel strips
Love AO! Tunca is THE best and honest plugin developer out there right now. It’s sooo wierd all of the others straight out refuse to add even such basic things like volume compensation. Imagine every other dev being like him! What a world!! The only one sad would be you W, because the snake oil videos would not be needed. 😂
great video! Can't agree more with you. Thanks for share this developers instead of keep marketing all the big brands without purpose
I don't like the sound of his plugs (possibly too many per month??) I think variety of sound is the much better analog modeller (and free),
But you can't deny the generosity and this comp is genuinely a very creative design
CHANNEV is the best Neve-style strip out there. The De-Esser is witchcraft. Impossible to make it sound bad. And autogain!
Really enjoyed this.
Some of his stuff is supercool. I use OAQ in every project, and I also love Varimoon which is, coincidentally, a Fairchild 660 of sorts.
what's the internal/external thing? I hoped for the Dan worral trick where he modifies the ratio of the second compressor dynamically by taming the signal with the first one (or maybe I misunderstood sth?).
Had a wa73 and a 103. Sold it and find myself preferring vocals with analog obsession chain, id22 and a se v7 $100 mic. All about tone and the ao body can be cleann in those mids. Developer deserves all the praise he’s doing this the right way... Still wondering if analog compressor would be worth it?
Great Review. I think this plugin is inspired by the Shadow Hills Class A Mastering Compressor but not sure. The stacked Compressor concept leads me to believe so but just with less features which works for me personally Gave it a go the other day and it worked great!
I like the music, by the way. Video with this important question also, of course!
That is one funky jam.
There's this one moment when you realize what benefit this tool brings. I have an idea because you work the HP on the first comp. It would have been great to hear what exactly sparks your joy there because I suspect you have specific use cases in mind. =)
T-Compressor from Techivation is also free and also uses multiple serial compressors in a single plug although the execution is completely different. Personally I've found Comper to be more useful in my workflow, mainly because I don't like T-Compressor's lack of metering and its stylized/simplified parameters.
Well Done
thx for this review on a fair vst producer, he deserves it !
I'd love for you to do a review of the Kush Clariphonic plugin. I've been using it for about 3 years now. When I bought it, I had just finished up a mastering job for a client. Because those songs were kinda etched in my brain pretty well on the day I bought the Clariphonic plugin, I decided to revisit a couple and see if I liked the plugin enough to use it when mastering. I thought it sounded fantastic. I contacted the client for whom I'd just delivered the fully mastered album (she already told me she loved how it turned out) and asked her to listen to a couple of her songs again. I sent her two versions... one the previously finished master, the other the new master with the addition of Clariphonic. She preferred the Clariphonic version on both.
She and I have a very friendly relationship so I told her about the new plugin I had bought and said I was going to remaster all her tracks because I thought the Clariphonic versions were better too. It was a 13 track album and I sent her 26 tracks in the end. 13 with and 13 without. They were just labeled A and B (I mixed them up so it was truly blind). She picked the Clariphonic version as her favorite on all but one of the songs. It wasn't long before I ordered the hardware version.
Now I know before you even look at it there will be things you don't like about the interface. It's an EQ and it doesn't list frequencies. And you probably won't like that it only covers the upper mids and high frequency ranges. But you'll like that there are no fake screws drawn on the GUI, so there's something to cheer about, right? Anyway, I think the thing sounds absolutely gorgeous.
Here's the link...

Interesting. Cool VST yes, but Tokyolabs EQs made me quit Clariphonic. Clari doesn't add harmonics as i understand, PluginDoctor is showing that. It's well a made parralel EQ, and yeah, it just works, yes. Kush turorial videos are really nice too btw, and i like Kush's Pusher as a coloring tool A LOT
He's a grat sound engineer too, and i like the guy, his mind. He's s really cool dude too i find
Just downloaded and really enjoying this! Great video man! Who is the funk song by, really liking it?
Danform by doosh-dah is truly a hidden gem. Haven’t heard a song this good for a while now.
Installation a bit odd? No choice of VST path. Hmmm. Searched the whole computer post installation to find the path.
Default PC path is C:\program files\common files\vst3 which is one of my DAW existing VST paths (obvs). Took 5 rescans to find it there. A pain of an installation 😢
A choice of installation path would be great, the alternative folder browse option doesn't let you browse back beyond 'programs' whatever that folder is as its neither my x64 or x86 one? ...not able get to any existing VST path?
Bit of a PC installation bug maybe but thank you Analog Obsessions 🧡
I really like companies like UAD overloud and three body technology. but man the analog obsession stuff is freaking amazing.
analog obsession is clearly very talented and dedicated. he deserves good money for making great content free.
Great plugins totally recommend them ..
Thank you.
Can you review plugins by Kush ?
Having bought a Fairchild you then have to be able to afford the running costs. The valves need rebiasing on a monthly basis.
Did that FET mode sound very close to soft tubes FET compressor?
When i started out 'back in the day', i would have been bowled over with this quality of plugins being made available for free or as cheap as a Patreon.
We use to have to look up to Waves, and there were no $29 deals in those days, everything was around $200+.
And i'm still bowled over because some of Analogue Obsessions's plugins sound unlike anything else out there.
hearing quite a lot of ringing in your audio only when you talk, recognized this on the last video as well, or am i starting to hear things ? ;)
There's a pretty good reason why plugins from the big companies are usually quite conservative in comparison to the stuff put out by little guys. It's the same issue in most industries: Everything has to get greenlit by every department, such that everything is basically "designed by committee". e.g. If the marketing department says "We don't understand this new feature. Can't you just put out something like the last thing we did, as that sold quite well and we can use the same template in the adverts?" you get the expected result. See also: cars from major manufacturers that more or less all look the same, and movies that just have a series of sequels. Big companies didn't get big by being original or taking risks. They got big by churning out cover versions of the greatest hits.
Instant buyer with the stacked configuration
Half their plugins don't work on my Mac M1, and the rest are glitchy I can barely turn the knobs because they jump around randomly. Hoping for updates soon.
Is this plugin a stereo compressor or a stacked compressor?
Hello from Ukraine!) Thanks for the great reviews. They are like a small holiday) If possible, please do a review of plugins from Fuse Audio Labs. Their tape recorder and compressors are of particular interest
Do you use his plugins often?
This is my #1 vocal compressor. It's just perfect.
i love this compressor ;)
Are AO plugins still NOT backwards compatible when updated? Losing session settings after updating was a deal breaker for me.
Cope
What happend with the HighNote afiliation QR?
I have a Sony MDR-7605 studio headphones... Is there anything better at a price range of $100-$200?
Also.. my Sony is 7 years old... Sounds I buy a new set once the black rubber starts peeling?
ath m50x is better, also senheiser hd560s, Beyerdynamic DT 900 x pro(the best)
Analog Obsession is a Legend!
would like to hear your thoughts on waves lil tube.
Iirc McDSP has a plugin with four compressors that can be combined parallel and seriell in different ways and simulate different compressor types.
they make good stuff but really need to get off the iLok thing. Done with them until they do
Hey Wytse. Analogue Obsession plugins are fully free. Becoming a patron is optional. Which obviously I highly encourage.
I think the plugin is pretty nice but I don’t know what to use it for. Is it’s purpose just to be the most versatile compressor or what? Hope it makes sense
achieve different compression sounds by mixing various modes at once you can do some really crazy stuff
there seem to be some auto leveling on the inputs, try it out!
Thanks for the review. For black Friday I got a new hammer drill, some chisels, and a fast-boil kettle. Perhaps I could start a new industrial genre?
tap that kettle and make a perc with the ao plugins haha
ANALOG OBSESSION IS THE BEST! NO DOUBT!
I support three people through Patreon. Analog Obsession was my very first.
Analog obsession is just cool :)
You said it with the whole “sell sell sell” break my desk bit. Big corporation companies could 100% make this plugin and sell it tomorrow. But it’s better business for them to break all these features up in to multiple plugins, put a new graphic design on it and sell it as something new. Because it makes more money that way. They don’t want to put all their eggs in one basket because it doesn’t maximise their marketing strategy.
Have you ever made a video on your vocal chain? Your videos sound fantastic, so it would be really nice to see what you have to say.
"full disclosure: i'm actually paying him" i loved that
I love this guy's plugins. best deal in town. go support him now.
Mr AO is the final bosss. What a sick genius and philosophy, that's my man !
I love all the AO plugins!
Please make a video testing the Waves BB Tubes, smells like snake oil...
👍🏼 amen brother 🎯
1:38 I just buy the stuff I Piracy years ago for cheap now lol, now Im scared of keygens 😢
Monitoring and acoustics best advice I promise you
Your response is CORRECT.
This is the compressor they ALL should have been offering for the past 20 years.
…but they didn’t.
Tunka did.
🤘😎🤘
I am a tad confused relating to auto gain. The dude from Tukan Studios made some points about not including it. Personally I liked the feature, however believable as far as logic not so much
Wating for the Waves BB tubes Review🗣📣
Have you checked out his machine learning, saturation plugin Moma.... I like it. It seems really, really good.
you should try the variety of sound plugins
analog obsession is one guy from Turkey he makes really good job.
I'm mad that AO still doesn't have a Compressor with Stereo Unlinking like Pro-C, I would pay money for a saturating bus compressor with that feature, it's an absolute dealmaker, setting up Stereo unlinking manually in my daw costs 3x as much CPU for one instance, please, can they finally try to implement that feature?
Do you want partial linking or dual mono? I use some IK stuff where it's got dual mono, M/S options. Not percentage linking options though
@@BrofUJu I mean percentage linking, I'd be ok with just dual mono as well but Percentual linking is just great.
@@intranexine8901 fair! I actually not many plugins I've seen that can do that sadly
@@BrofUJu yea, I know, that's why analog obsession should do it. You can build it youself in FL-Patcher or Ableton Racks by just splitting the audio into three parralpaths, one with the Left channel on both channels, one with the right channel on both and one with the full signal, then you load your compressor with identical settings 3 times and set up a crossfading knob between the solo right and left reunited and the full signal path, but that method takes a lot more CPU per compressor.
You're angry????.....at a guy who does great work all by himself and let's you use his stuff for free? Who adds awesome features and Oversampling and all kinds of stuff a lot of big paid plugins don't do? (Facepalm)
Referring to big plugin developers: this analog obsession seems to do a lot better than the "Shadow Hills" serial compressor with all of its buttons, dials and little leds. And the shadow hills is marketed as a holy grail - it's not that by any means. I will look into analog obession one of these days, thanks!❤
Now that's a plugin , wow 😳
I must say, I love your occasional madness... 😃
I reckon those big companies have no foresight because ultimately they are about making money and don't want to innovate.
I will be happiest person in the World when (if) PSP will add "VCA" mode to FETpressor plugin. They already done it to InfiniStrip compressor (FET/VCA/OPTO), so would be nice to have atleast VCA model integrated to original FETpressor
His plugin "Varimoon" is a Fairchild.
I wonder, why there are so many SSL chanelstrips out there, but no single one has Q control for Hi and Low bands?! What is the sacred reason not to include Q control for HI bell and shelf in to SSL eq? What if I want transform my gentle shelf slope to agressive "S" shaped with dip below target frequency (pultec style)? Shure, they will sell whole new plugin with different type of shelf insted of adding one simple Q knob. "Q knob was never present on original thing!!! This is an emulation!!! Give us your money!! We've modeled hum and noise, aren't you happy?". Same for compressor controls.
Thanks to analog obsession there really is no excuse for using waves plugins anymore.
