I think the point here with the topic at hand is the idea setting boundary and not cutting friends off. I feel setting boundaries with all people in your life with respect to the level relationship you have is important.
I feel Brenda is a bit still hurt and clouded by her Ex husbands actions which has clouded a little bit of her judgement and all she is saying about her bossom friends is actually about the boundary. She trusted the friend because the friend she described had her boundary too with respect her relationship to the man. And i think she being in an abusive relationship and the friend knowing everything, her friend was kinda protecting her in her knowledge. Because... ei, a friend is meant to decline sleeping on the same matrimonial bed knowing very well there is a hall.
