how does this work for large unmoveable objects that you can't drag around or control? eg a water trough, a boulder, or something you can't control like a deer in the woods?
Wonderful, Carson! How do I apply this to a trail horse sold to me who seems to be afraid of every little thing. She spooks ALMOST in place, but back so round I can hardly fit her with a secure saddle. Ah, me!! Have been walking her in hand every day for a week as I am almost recovered from a severely fractured wrist, and must return to my job on a hamster wheel soon. Help?!
Thank you for this! I have a rope with 6 different sized empty plastic bottles, and I've gotten so I can ride my super spooky pony with it around his neck, but someone left a wheelbarrow tipped on its side the other day, next to his paddock, and he completely destroyed 2 metal gates and a metal panel when he freaked out at the dangerous wheelbarrow ant tried to run through the gates.! How do I fix him with the wheelbarrow?
My horse is not afraid of geese or most things. He is scared of cows and buffalo. This is strange because he was on a ranch with cattle. They used him to gather the cows. I'm going slow doing all the things Carson talks about and he's getting better.
Have you ever handled a horse that freezes instead of runs? To the point she faints? She is a beautiful horse, but I can't take her anywhere. Or pretty much do things with her. It's the over stimulation.
Every spring I have a pair of wild geese that stay with me in the pasture for about 2 months. They fly in and out over the horses heads. I also live next to a state parkland where they release pheasants for hunting so I'm buried in what is essentially nervous chickens. Birds aren't a problem. The horses desensitize themselves.
Great video Carson . At first I thought it was going to be another one of your silly videos , but was excited that you had some great teaching / training content .
I got some old dog car seat cover stuff and sewed in some plastic bottles with rocks in them. Even put a tail on it and named it the "Tasmanian Devil of Death"! We used this method and it absolutely works great! Eventually was able to put it up on his saddle. Absolutely do this!!

How should a stationary object be approached? Something that can't be moved. Say something out on the trail?

Carson, the plural of "goose" is "geese." Nevertheless, I appreciate and enjoyed the teaching.
