A lot of people do not have the problem that their horse is not in tune with them but that they are not in tune with their horse. They unwillingly hold back their horse, riding behind the horse, or are not ready to go along on the trip the horse offers. They initiate the trot or canter but deep within, they, and not the horse, don't really want "to go on that journey". Of course, the horse notices that and gives them a sluggish feeling. If Carson rode the same horse it would move like a happy camper because he rides the horse relaxed and with utter confidence. So most of the problems we encounter with horses are mental. Your attitude in the saddle can be changed by training yourself. But it takes acknowledgment of the problem and time, a lot of time. So go for it.

Brilliant. There's way too many stir crazy horses in the world today. Lovely to hear you say, "get on your horse and ride". I'd agree it's more important. I can do everything we do in an arena on the trail without my horses feeling like they're being drilled. Love your common sense and how you keep your explanations simple and understandable. Many thanks ☺🐴💕

I like your older videos much better than your new stuff. It's just you telling us what's what with no bs. The new videos seem to be with forced enthusiasm.

I love when people use horses that already have energy. It’s not the same using a young horse who picks it up fast compared to an older horse that doesn’t even want to move. His horse moved without even asking in the first 10 seconds.

I agree. This horse has too much life in the first place. I have been working a 16 yr old that has not been ridden and he doesn’t want to move. It took me along time to get life in him. I have about forty rides on him and I’m now working on backup.

@@pjtherev I had the same problem with an 18 year old, he was so closed off to learning, didn’t know how to lunge or even move off your pressure. A bunch of these videos that I find on “how to get forward movement” utilize active or receptive horses. It’s not very helpful 😂😂

Hi Carson, or whoever can help me. What should you do when your horse freezes while leading them? It doesn't matter if she is wearing a bridle or halter. It often is for no particular reason at all, first she refuses to go into some place then refuses to leave that place

I have a couple horses that were poorly halter trained that do this. I use basically the same idea that is used in this video, I ask them to walk forward and then if they don't try then I wack them on the butt with the end of my rope. i don't do it hard but just enough to get the point across. I hope this helps.
