Georgia had homefield advantage, played in the same field they won the SEC Championship over LSU and even they came back, West Virgnia still won the game. The SEC may be the best conference in college football, but every conference has to respect the Big East. The Big East is the most underrated conference in college football.
OK Jonesley, the banter has been fun. I can't keep this up. I do remember that Marshall game. UGA played a bad game on offense no doubt. They still won the game by 10 and ended up 10-2 that year. No team is indestructible, whether WVU or UGA. Case in point, USC got beat by UCLA and Oregon State last year. Best luck to WVU. They are on the up and up.
The song is by Biz Markie, doing a rap over the Rolling Stones' "Can't you hear me knockin'" from 1971. I don't know what Biz Markie calls his version.
I saw the 2006 Sugar Bowl. West Virginia defeated Georgia by using their speed. SEC Football is well known for their speed, but at that game, WVU used their running attack to defeat Georgia.
It's funny how this video doesn't happen to show any of the 35 pts UGA scored. WV was up 28-0 and hung on for a 3 pt win. This loss for UGA was the exception that proves the rule. UGA's bowl record since 1997: 8-2. WV's bowl record since 1997: 3-6.
Jonesly, I'm not making excuses. WV won fair and square with good coaching and good speed at skill positions. I'm just putting a 3pt loss in a BCS bowl game in perspective...
I hope we keep getting written off every big game....it makes all these victories 10 times sweeter!!!! 33-5 the past 3 years with 3 straight bowl victories including 2 BCS bowl wins......kinda hard to talk down WVU but they will as usual....and they will still act surprised when they "upset" the next big team in the big game.
I was there and Georgia took West Virginia lightly and West Virginia jumped to a 28-0 lead in the 2nd quarter. The next two quarters saw Georgia outscore the 'Eers 35-10. Georgia was the better team but West Virginia was hungrier and won a much deserved game. Good job West Virginia, y'all spanked the Sooners... oh i forgot, Go Dawgs!
Lannis32, Georgia had a very bad middle of the year starting a true freshman QB (who incidentally will probably be a NFL starter one day), Georgia finished off the year beating three ranked teams and put up 30+ pts on two of the best defenses in the country (Auburn & Virginia Tech). They thus finished off ranked for the tenth year in a row. Not a great year by Georgia standards (9-4) but certainly not bad. Look at WV's records from a couple of years back.
It was a damn good game. WVU won, Georgia lost, either way the WVU players are extremely talented, and took us by suprise. I remember going to the game with some friends and they couldnt name a WVU player, when they left I think they could name a few. Was crappy special teams on our part, and great coaching on their part to take advantage of special teams.
Don't forget the fact that everyone loses in the hype here. WVU was from the then lowly Big East, and there was NO WAY ON EARTH THAT WE WERE GOING TO BEAT GEORGIA IN THEIR OWN BACK YARD. It wasn't so much about the 14 points in the first 8 minutes, the fact that every Georgia fan had given up in the first half, or what the final score was. It was about a team that according to every pundit in America you should have trounced that came in, embarassed you, and left with a win.
One last thing: If your argument is that UGA has a sucky football program, you are only diminishing your own accomplishment. You beat a sucky team by 3 pts. I think UGA has a pretty strong football tradition (both over the last century and the last decade). If I were a WVU fan I would brag about beating UGA as well.
WVU was simply a better "Team"! The Mountaineers were in control for all 3,600 seconds of the game. That's all dawgs. So just give credit where credit is due, and learn to take a loss in stride.
No disrespect to Georgia, but the Bulldogs lost to WVU. Why? The Bulldogs failed to stop the run and West Virginia forced more turnovers. One of the biggest upsets in BCS Bowl history.
Jonesly, just check out ESPN's ranking of the top 25 over the last decade. There are 5 teams from the SEC in the top 15 (including UGA), and there is no team from the Northeastern region of the country in the top 15 and only one in the top 25 (PSU #21). Fans from the Northeast should have nothing to say about southern teams bc all your teams suck.
Enjoy it. A three point victory in a BCS bowl is as good as it gets for you guys. I don't see any National Championships for you, ever. You don't have the players on defense...
Jonesly, I also see you're going back decades and being very selective. UGA won the 1981 SugarBowl for the NC and the 1983 loss was for the NC. No fan would be embarrassed of that. UGA has not been beaten by a Big10 foe since the 80s. They've played quite a few including (e.g. Ohio State, Purdue 2x, Wisconsin 2x).
How can you say you respect Auburn but not UGA when they beat each other every other year. Last year= UGA 37 Auburn 14. UGA also has a better recent bowl record than Auburn, including a Sugar Bowl win over FSU 2002. I don't know too many schools that would be ashamed of an 8-2 record in bowl games over the last ten years.
48-28 Hail West Virginia!! Oh yeah and in this video we beat the SEC Champ in 07 we beat the ACC Champ in the Gator Bowl and obviously this year we beat the Big 12 Champ. WHOS NEXT????
RichRod had it made at WVU. Ego got the best of him. Too bad for him and, likely, too bad for WVU too. Coulda built something special if he had just been a little more patient. Eddie P was only about three years away from retirement. Heck, by that time RR probably could have handpicked the AD. Oh well..........loser.
estradaaaa1 this is wv had a d that was respectful. not this bullshit we put out in the big 12 wtf holgorsen tryin to kill a legacy of solid gold. thank you wicks #41
Thank you very much
Fun Fact: UGA has more bowl wins since 1980 (record 16-6) than WV does all-time (record 10-15). What a football powerhouse.
Georgia had homefield advantage, played in the same field they won the SEC Championship over LSU and even they came back, West Virgnia still won the game.

I'm just here for the most amazing fake punt since the Punt-rooskie.

Yeah, they seem to think that West Virginia is a mid-major for some reason, despite beating great teams year after year.

Noel Devine signed a letter of intent March 30 to West Virginia.

Rich, why did you leave? GOD man, we could have been back in the BCS this year had he stayed. I hope he gets fired at Michigan.
I didn't know a 3 point victory was an ass-beating.
WVU was simply a better "Team"! The Mountaineers were in control for all 3,600 seconds of the game. That's all dawgs. So just give credit where credit is due, and learn to take a loss in stride.
Who sings that first song in the video?? I want it on my ipod!!!!
LOL this guy is my math teacher ahhahahaha he showed me this video in math today lol pretty sick

One of the biggest upsets in BCS Bowl history.
not sure what GA's defensive game plan was, seemed like they wanted to stop the pass, lol
freshman not sophmores, freshman

With that run system West Virginia can beat anyone.
The link would not work!
