This video along with all the recent lily drama has made me realize how easy it is to paint someone out as a monster all because they’re unlikeable. Is lily a bit obnoxious? Sure. Does she enjoy rage baiting? Yeah. But is there anything substantial to critic her for beyond “she’s pretty annoying”? Not really. She’s not the predatory individual that people claim she is,and she’s not even as unreasonable or obnoxious as people painted her out to be

Looked into the Cobain stuff a while back out of curiosity, it's way more than "wearing girls clothes =trans" like this creator tried to say. Do I personally think he was trans? Idk and idc. I don't think it's disrespectful tho because being relatable to trans women or possibly a trans woman is not a negative. Maybe odd sure.
The disrespectful part was speaking matter of factly like many people do that he was 100% trans when he's dead and to try and assign an identity on him when he could have been any number of things that we'll never know. And it is weird to speculate about like this about an actual person. However, this isn't exclusive to trans people and gender identities and I think when people denounce these behaviors it needs to be delinked from trans issues.
@Teriria exactly! Very well put I agree completely. My point was a lot of the discourse is just assuming that being associated with trans women is bad. I don't think it's appropriate to speculate real people's identities, especially in a matter-of-fact manner.
At the end of the day as a service worker it’s actually super easy not to misgender people by simply not gendering strangers lol. “Welcome, my friend” or “excuse me, person in the red shirt” when addressing or getting the attention of a stranger or patron is perfectly acceptable. I’ve used it for years and I’m a dumbass and a high school dropout, this isn’t highfalutin gender studies academic jargon.
sir and ma'am are the gold standard for hospitality. id rather appeal to the vast majority whos appreciation outweighs the dismay caused by misgendering. however someone lresents is what i will use
I'm pretty sure most people don't care about being addressed as sir and ma'am. I for one dont care for it, I find it kinda fake, I'm not a sir, I'm the common man. i just wanna say...the "trans flag" on Gwens dads uniform isnt a flag at all. its just a normal work uniform pin. literally, officers arent allowed to put things on their uniform. it only looks like the flag because of the color theory used in her universe. Everything is bathed in pink and purple. thats why they havent said anything about Gwen specifically, lmao. itd be neat if they'd have actually made her trans but her big "im a super hero" speech to her dad was so emotional cause her dad HATES THEM. Yes, I think they used the trans experience for a basis in her emotions, but she isn't trans.

i’m only 10 mins in but let me just say, children only think things are strange and weird if YOU teach them that. if you tell children that trans people exist and that it’s normal then guess what, children will grow up to think trans people are normal and fine! TEACH CHILDREN ACCEPTANCE
