Indian Springfield Dark Horse TCMT backrest install

TCMT sent me this backrest to try out. shrsl.com/3xzwy

The quality is impressive with this piece. They do a good job at making a quality part at a fraction of the cost of the Indian branded part.
Only down side to this setup is the need to change to smaller spools. Everything works well except the smaller spools won’t let you easily use the gap fillers for your rear fender when you remove the backrest. I may see if I can grind the openings later to see if I can use the OEM spools at some point.

I have a 2022 SDH, so I wouldn't have the same issue with the spacers. I already have the Indian version of the backrest, but it was included in the deal with the dealership. I've installed the rear highway bars from TCMT and would use their products again without hesitation.

I think the spools are the same on the 2020. It is the 2019 and older that has different spools. The models with the slammed bags like ours are the ones that have the larger spools.

@@waltermitty7452 yes. I also 3d printed some spacers to go over the new spools to let them accept the fender trim when the backrest is not used. Best of both worlds.

Have a 19 CDH and just installed the same backrest. Front to back movement it’s solid but side to side there is some play. Did you notice this on your install?

I am not experiencing that at all. Can you see if one side or the other is loose causing the wobble?
