      @@ussoccerfc4064 hi there, when it comes to high-speed train tickets in Spain, you always buy individual legs (unless the company offers a ticket with a connection involved). But you cannot buy different trips at the same time. All the best!

I just purchased two Renfe train tickets from Madrid to Barcelona using your trainline link and thanks to you, it was very simple and easy, as you explained the process so wonderfully. Many thanks for your great videos! Your information on Trainline was spot on and we could get it to work when Renfe's site kept failing us. We did go to Iryo's site to arrange a trip with a meal - something we could not get done on Trainline. We did have bit of a scare when our Renfe from Zaragoza was cancelled at the last minute, but that we made it back to Madrid after a bit of chaos at the station. Keep up the informative videos - they are the clearest and most informative of all the ones I viewed before our trip.

    Tony, thanks for your very informative videos. Besides your great advice I also appreciate when you acknowledge when you "promote" companies - a refreshing approach on the web. I have been to Spain twice in the past 5 years and am know helping my daughter plan her first visit. Thanks, Rick. In the specific case of the Trainline, we were users of the platform before we began promoting it as an answer to the problems posed by Renfe's website. With the arrival of other high-speed companies, the Trainline became an essential tool. We made sure the price paid at the Trainline would be the same as elsewhere. We've decided against recommending websites, even if we could make money out of it, when we felt they didn't offer a good deal to our followers. As for Seville, we just published a new video on the city here: ua-cam.com/video/BXocHk2sO3M/v-deo.html All the best!

    Thanks Tony, for your clear and sensible advice. I worried when I couldn't buy my train tickets at first, but I followed your advice, checked back every now and then, and now I have them all booked. (Although the luggage thing is a little unclear, they seem to be suggesting we can each take on 3 pieces, including a larger bag - Renfe and Iryo - which contradicts your information ... I will check their sites again, thanks to your warning!). Your videos are SO informative - I feel like it's a course called Spain 101! We will be traveling Spain in the fall of 2022 and will need to arrange three moves during our stay: Valencia-Malaga, then Malaga-Alicante and finally Alicante-Barcelona. Hello there and welcome to the channel. Our choice for those trips would be the high-speed train, but as there are no direct services between Valencia and Málaga and Málaga and Alicante, you will have to change trains in Madrid. As for Alicante-Barcelona, you will have to compare prices of air and train travel. There are no high-speed trains on the route. All the best!

    Hello Tony! Thanks for the videos about Renfe trains. Very useful information. I been trying to use Renfe and Trainline websites to purrchase tickets between Madria and Santiago de Compostela next April 2023 around Easter. As of December 21st 2022 the websites will not allow a ticket purchase. I am wondering if it will not work because 15 weeks in advance is too far into the future? I ended purchasing my AVE tickets through trainline because Renfe website kept stalling on the payment page. I read that they often have trouble with foreign credit cards. Are you able to purchase passes through Trainline or just one way/round trip tickets? Our plans include travel on three days via high speed rail, Madrid to Seville, Seville to Cadiz, and Cadiz to Madrid with an afternoon stop in Cordoba. Will I have to buy a 3 day pass through Eurail?

    • @ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal
      @ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal  2 роки тому +1

      Hello Suzanne, great to hear we are being helpful, thanks for your kind words! As far as we know, you cannot purchase passes through the Trainline. However, we don't think passes are such a good deal when it comes to train travel in Spain. The local train running from Seville to Cádiz, for instance, is not expensive at all, and you would be wasting a pass if you were to use it on that route. When it comes to high-speed trains in Spain, you cannot break the trips in halves, you will have to purchase a Cadiz to Córdoba ticket and then a Córdoba to Madrid. All the best.

One issue I'm having is that Trainline does not appear to be showing any tickets for Iryo or Ouigo - its only showing tickets for Renfe, AVE, and AVLO. Even for known routes/dates/times where Iryo and Ougio show tickets on their sites, there is nothing showing on Trainline. Any ideas why that might be?

      This is very interesting. It appears that search results are different depending on the country you are accessing the Trainline website from. When I connect to a server in Spain via VPN, I am able to see Iryo and Ouigo appear in the results. When I perform the same search connecting directly from the USA, then I no longer see Iryo and Ouigo in the results. I have not done extensive testing, but I wonder if this is true when searching from other countries as well.

My earlier research suggested that there are some direct trains as well and if I look at the next couple of weeks, yes there are direct Seville-Granada trains shown in March but no later. If I am going from Madrid to Toledo or Segovia do I usually need to book the tickets in advance or can I just buy it that day I plan on leaving? Also can we actually pick our own seats ?

    • @ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal
      @ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal  Рік тому

      All high-speed trains in Spain include a seat reservation. Whether you are able to choose the seat or not will depende on the rate you chose. The price of trains to Toledo hardly ever changes, but we would buy a few days in advance. In the case of Segovia, the earlier, the better.

    Hi Tony why is it that one cannot book a high speed train from Granda to Madrid? I know there are train cause the service started last year. Thanks Clive

      Hi Clive, the Granada-Madrid high-speed train has been running for four years now, we've used it a couple of times. You don't give us any details of what the problem might be, but we suspect you are trying to buy tickets for a date not available yet.

    Any idea if we go on train from Barcelona to Valencia which side of seat to choose for sea view for the journey (Renefe on 1st Class ticket) We found Omio site for ticket purchase is this the best place to buy train ticket. Can we book seat for sea view? I think in 1st class 2 seat and once seat configuration no idea which seat to choose for view. Thanks

      Going from Barcelona to Valencia the sea will be on the left of the carriage, so you will have to book a seat on that side of the train. For us, no site beats the Trainline.

    How about from Malaga to cordoba as we travelling from uk to Malaga unfortunately no airport in cordoba or even near Granada and cordoba very difficult to go I have to stay in Malaga because of no flights to these city’s plz above any weekly train tickets like Swiss travel pass we are 5 family member any good advice for family tickets

      @ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal  Рік тому

      There is no such thing similar to a Swiss travel pass in Spain. There are no family tickets either. Being 5, a rented car might be an interesting alternative to train travel, at least for the short trips (Málaga-Córdoba, Granada-Córdoba).

    I purchased a ticket from Traineline for journey from Barcelona to MAdrid. I read on a ticket it say you can use at cercanías service operated by renfe 4 hours before and 4 after your trip, my question is can I use that ticket for transfer from Barcelona El Prat Aiport to Barcelona Sants? or that ticket is valid only in Madrid network? Thanks.

    Hi Tony, my husband and I are traveling from San Sebastian to Barcelona, then onto Madrid and then Granada. We are staying 3 nights in each city. Our travel will take place over 7 days. We want to travel by train and are wondering if we should buy individual tickets for each destination or buy one ticket and break the journey with 3 stops. We are also wondering the best way to get from Granada to Lisbon

    • @ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal
      @ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal  Рік тому

      Hi Jacquie, you will have to buy individual tickets, you cannot break high-speed train trips. If you ask us about the Granada-Lisbon trip on a Q&A video, we will reply to your question there (as it is totally unrelated to the topic of this video).

    Hi , I’ve been watching some of your videos and they’re very helpful but I made a mistake of not purchasing luggage tickets for Avlo and now I am trying to get them online and don’t know how to do so! I tried Refne where I purchased the tickets but it doesn’t give me a link ! Neither does AVLO! I was wondering if you could help🙏 I also have tickets on AVE and Iryo which I think allow 3pieces of luggage up to 25kg. I’d appreciate any advice/links. Thank you

      Hi there, to add that extra piece of luggage, go to the Avlo homepage, login into your Renfe account, add the details of your trip and then proceed to purchase the extra luggage.

      Hi, Jacinthe, you will have to wait a bit more. On our video with tips on the high-speed train in Spain ua-cam.com/video/QYvUn-sJxZ4/v-deo.html we explain how with RENFE is nearly impossible to tell when will the tickets be made available.
