      You are correct. A co-worker explained it to me this way. When we say the word "letter", we drop one of the "t"s so it sounds more like "letr". If you notice (in later lessons) the "g" normally nearly inaudible unless it's a denoted hard G. In "onegai" within the sentence, you almost don't hear it all.
      Hope that helps. : )

    I just love everything about Japan and Japanese people, culture, the way they are so respectful to eachother bowing and thanking
    everyone being so polite.
    Us westerners
    could learn alot. I went to Japan overnight on a stop off to Australia when I was about 10 years old I never forget all the lights and billboards
    thinking the city looked magical. This is unusual for me as I'm a massive countryside fan I long to go back and hope I can soon there's so much to see ❤ it's such a beautiful country with beautiful people.

      Take caution as the Japanese spoken in anime isn't always proper, in many cases it is very informal. This can cause you to speak rudely to Japanese people. And they also mix different dialects in the shows, like in Naruto, most of the bad guys speak Kansai, and often times when Naruto is abroad and he says he has a heard time understanding, they are speaking Inu or a dialect stylized after Inu.

    • @TheSpore35
      @TheSpore35 9 років тому

      OmniscientWarrior Are they speaking Janji or Hiragona in SAO? And which one is Hiroko teaching in this video?

    • @OmniscientWarrior
      @OmniscientWarrior 9 років тому

      *****
      Hiroko is teaching the mainland dialect closer to Tokyo. This one is the most common form of Japanese, but I can't place the accent (accent in Japanese is found by where one places inflections in the words, like the word for bridge and chopsticks is the same but both are said differently, however how they are said is switched with the other in different regions, but this isn't something you have to worry about as people can figure out what you mean based on the rest of the sentence; like how some English speakers sound like they are saying fur for for, or are for our).
      As for SAO, sadly, I haven't seen much of it, and none of it was in Japanese, so I couldn't tell you how they are speaking. however, I can take a good guess and tell you, the kids most likely talk informally to each other, and doing this to a stranger is considered rude in Japan.

Now I can normally speak japanese on a regular basis with my japanese friends. My journey started with this video and will go on forever and ever. I found my passion in japanese. Though I couldn't follow my passion because of way too many setbacks, i still love japanese from the bottom of my heart.

      could you please say there defenition. I want to know what they mean, all the words you pointed

    • @RandomTwat
      @RandomTwat 7 років тому +5

      Marshall D. Teach
      kaizoku = pirate/sea thief
      This normally means pirate, the other translation is just more literal, since "kai" means "sea"/"ocean" and "zoku" means "thief/robber". Just so you know "kai" has a lot of different meanings and characters.
      nakama = friend/crewmate/comrade/ally.
      In One Piece, "nakama" has deeper meaning, meaning friends who are more like family, especially in the context of Luffy's crew. Popular fansubs of One Piece even leave the word "nakama" untranslated.
      yamero/yamete = stop
      "Yamero" is used by men, while "yamete" is used by women.
      shinde = die
      This is the command form of the verb "to die".
      Other forms I heard would be "shine" (=die!), "shinda" (=died) "shinda daro" (=probably died)
      matte = wait
      This is also used alongside "chotto", meaning "a small amount" or "kudasai", meaning "please". So "chotto matte" can be translated as "wait a second" and "matte kudasai" can be "please wait"
      yaro = bastard
      I heard this word a lot in some shonen anime. I don't think I need to explain this one.

      Never watch dub animes
      And learning other languages and making new accents is easy as long as it's fun
      Simply reading a book won't help because you pronounce words like
      Hajimemashte slower or you just butcher the words
      Unlike math where you create the solution
      Language is entirely based on your memory
      I'm from Indonesia btw so good luck
      I self thought myself English that's how easy it is remember when you're trying to learn also try having fun

    I would LOVE to learn Japanese,but it is hard without having someone teaching you.And I am making a huge mistake by just memorising the sentences.You can't memorise them,you need to learn it over the time...but I can't learn Japanese because I don't learn it a school and I don't have it anywhere around me (like TV,computer etc.)...it is hard.I learned English because I was learning it my whole life (school,life...) but it's different with Japanese...UGH

      Ljiljana Blanusa well i'm no expert in language learning, but i think a good thing to do when you study, is to take a notebook and write those things down, and once in a while go over the stuff you have learned.
