Jon, the water moves it closer to the centre, and can be used to move your potion exactly into the outline for a tier 3 potion. So at 14:00, if you had added water, you'd have created a very high quality fire potion instead for the exact same ingredients. So sometimes ever so slightly overshooting the mark, and adding water is a great idea. Plus, the recipe book remembers any water you've added.
Same for the healing potion he made immediately after, it was definitely going to be Tier 3 and if it wasn't it would still have been Tier 2 (that would have been Tier 3 if it was watered down a bit).
Additionally what really helps with seeing where you're going, if you align your potion icon line with the potion effect line (the lines that point towards the centre) you'll have an easier time seeing where your result is going
Oh, wow! I recommended this game to you, but I didn’t know that it was already on the schedule. I am very much looking forward to what comes out in the future of this game.
I hope they add something like this into the next Elderscrolls, so you can setup a shop of any kind and actually run it, it'd be a cool little mini-game :)
quick tip for getting T3 potions: use ingredients so you move your potion marker "past" your intended target. remember the water/cooling item will always move the potion towards the center of the map, (not backwards along the line). If you notice your potion marker, there's a thin line that points to the middle of the map. There's also a line that appears by the goal marker, that also points to the middle of the map. Line those 2 lines up, then use water cooling to slightly nudge the potion to the goal from the back. T3 every time.
It’s currently good for a couple hours. Wait for updates as there’s not much progression and it’s lacking in variety. Hopefully the devs will start releasing updates soon cause the last and only update since I bought it was in Sept and it was just bug fixes and video settings.
The demo is free, although based on an earlier version. You could get that to scratch the itch until the full game is closer to where it deserves to be.
Jon! Try tipping the thing above your cauldron when your potion marker is away from your start point. It's easier to get teir 3 potions every time than you might think 😉
Hey Jon. If you’re still looking for games you’ve missed this year, I’m still highly recommending a text-based political RPG called Suzerain. It’s all about making the tough decisions a president has to make and allows for a wide range of social and economic views. Really great writing and world they’ve made too.
Aim to go past the potion, then use the water to bring you back towards the center. Use whatever is left on your path to make adjustments in a direction perpendicular to the direction towards the center of the map. In other words, water will always bring you to center, so if you leave yourself a little too far to the right, once water brings you to near to the middle, you use your remaining path to the left to make any final adjustments to bring you into the center. If you're careful, you can get a tier 3 potion every time, for cheap.
I've been looking for a good shop keeper game ever since I played and fell in love with Recettear: An Item Shop Tale 10 years ago (and I didn't realize it has been so long already...). While this doesn't seem to scratch the same itch, it does look rather nice.
This makes me think of a purer, more focused version of Recettear or the Atelier series without the main plots (such as they are actually plots in most entries).
This is a lovely little game and I've enjoyed playing the start of it. I do hope they finish it up soon and well. It has a lot of potential, but it doesn't seem to have progressed much in the last 9 months.
After just a couple of minutes of watching this video, I put it on my wish list. It looks amazing! I'd love to play it on my Switch or phone for example...
Yaaay! :) I am so happy that you have decided to play this game, Jon! :) It is my most favorite indie game of recent months and I am so happy that I will be able to watch you playing it
Bloody hell! I knew Jon starts picking up games he missed around this time, but these have been some straight up bangers. Now if only he picks up Spiritfarer we would have the perfect December..
i really like shoppe keep, a lot different to this, but fun nonetheless. you play as the shop owner in an rpg, sell supplies and such, it’s in first person tho.
Nah, far too much backseat gaming. "Use this herb, no that one, go further, don't go that far, haggle, stop haggling..." It would get annoying incredibly fast.
I think if you watered down the fire potion @13:56 a bit, you could've made tier 3, because the potion in progress always waters down to the center of the "map"
Jon's comment at the start about not being the protagonist just because you run a potion shop, clearly shows he hasn't learned of the myriad of anime and Manga where the protagonist runs a potion shop.
Okay I haven't watched this video yet but there better be at least half a dozen Potion Seller references either by the game or by Jon or I won't be satisfied.
Hey comrade, not necessarily a game for video, but if you like crafty games I highly recommend craftopia even just to play for fun. It can be single or multiplayer, and has an extensive age progression/crafting system

"What is an explosion but a fire that kills you?"
As opposed to normal fire, which has never killed anyone in the history of ever.
The "fire + poison = explosion" reasoning was absolutely classic alchemist logic lol
Although it does also explain why Jon has a Classics degree
Yeah, fire and lightning may have been a smoother move
Jon: has perfectly good Poison potion
Jon: "eh we can do better, let's throw this one away"
It wasn't poisonous enough. What if the person who bought it had tried to kill somebody and they'd lived? Nobody would ever buy poison from me again.
Yeah, that's true, you wouldn't make a killing selling shoddy poison
@@jackeea_ Though it would poison his brand and marketing.
@@ManyATrueNerd What if that second person wanted to buy a greater healing potion to recover and their survival was thus a net boon for the shop?
@@JB-xl2jc spoken like a true Capitalist!
Potion Seller, enough of these games. I'm going into battle and I need your strongest potions
Thank you
My potions are too strong for you, traveller
My potions are made for a beast let alone a man
I feel sorry for the poor knight who will use the potion to feel cool in the desert and freeze the whole camp.
Oh, wow! I recommended this game to you, but I didn’t know that it was already on the schedule. I am very much looking forward to what comes out in the future of this game.
It wasn't on the schedule until you reminded me it existed the other day.
I love the lingering color stains on the pestle! Such detail! 💖
Loving how you did just throw away the expensive crystal into researching a somewhat underwhelming explosion potion.
I hope they add something like this into the next Elderscrolls, so you can setup a shop of any kind and actually run it, it'd be a cool little mini-game :)
Hey, that's a pretty good mod idea.

JON! It is not a 'weak' potion, it is a 'great value' potion, remember your own marketing!
I can honestly say i had my eye on this one for a while, mainly because of the artstyle. It really seems like a must buy for me from what i see.
It’s currently good for a couple hours. Wait for updates as there’s not much progression and it’s lacking in variety. Hopefully the devs will start releasing updates soon cause the last and only update since I bought it was in Sept and it was just bug fixes and video settings.
@@Eastonfection Cool, thanks for the info. Guess i'll wait to see when a new update comes out.
It's early access but there's enough that points to exciting content to come.
The demo is free, although based on an earlier version. You could get that to scratch the itch until the full game is closer to where it deserves to be.
You'd probably love the entire atelier (French word for the workshop/study thing) series
this game looks so cool, its unlocking all the memories of me in grade school making potions out of mud and random plants in the ravine.
Jon! Try tipping the thing above your cauldron when your potion marker is away from your start point. It's easier to get teir 3 potions every time than you might think 😉

And now I’m hoping he’ll do the restoration potion cheat to fortify all of his stats into God Tier ⚔️

25:09 Jon haggles with a man who’s bleeding to death…
Yup, sounds about right.
call it compensation for him bleeding all over his shop ;)
John quitely cutting the part of the episode where he fails to haggle the wounded guardsman is hilarious @25:20
Pretty likely.

That game was so fun back in the day. Minus the combat part which felt a bit janky.
You may want to take a look at Moonlighter.. you fight at night and run a shop selling the drops during the day, was pretty good
I have this game and I love it. The only thing I don’t have is shit to move to the left
'Stabbed by a zombie'
I dunno why that line made me chuckle. Just imagining a knife wielding zombie.
"If I'd had to guess, explosion is like a fire, but more."
Thanks for that, made my day. :D
I watched a real civil engineer play this game and I’m so happy that you’re also playing it, their reactions to the potions are priceless
I really want these two to colab a video.
Better be a stuffed alligator on the ceiling.
Jon + Breaking Bad = GOLD
the teir II fire potion at 13:50 which he could have gotten to tier III by just adding a tiny bit of water annoyed me far more than it should have.
Wishlisted this a while back but I wasn't sure what the gameplay was like, thanks for this vid, I'm sold!
oh wow this is exciting. i saw this game on steam and thought jon should definitely play it.
Oh yes, this game is awesome! I can't wait for them to get to garden management to make getting ingredients to much less painful.
“You really gotta sell how cold this thing is”. Jon should have called it Caution! Blizzard Executive!
ouch lol
Having the ability to scribble on your recipe notes is a wonderful thing to add and I hope that goes in their next update so I can get it.
That has to be the best pun you've ever made. Brilliant.
If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the precipitate
This makes me think of a purer, more focused version of Recettear or the Atelier series without the main plots (such as they are actually plots in most entries).
Ok, I now want to give this game another spin. Thanks for planning my weekend for me, Jon!
Seriously this game could be titled "My first decade of larping" where I played an alchemist, game of the year for me :D
Oh, what a lovely looking game I will try this out. I love games that try to make the _process_ of crafting interesting.
"fire and poison is definitely explosions"
*finds explosions up between fire and light*
the brewing very much reminds me of the drink mixing mechanic from The Red Strings Club
This is a lovely little game and I've enjoyed playing the start of it. I do hope they finish it up soon and well. It has a lot of potential, but it doesn't seem to have progressed much in the last 9 months.
I'd totally watch a chill livestream of this
Game developers looking for a AAA company to work for be like 29:22
I have a mighty need for a livestream of this
Damn it Jon you could have added some water and gone for a tier 3 heat potion
After just a couple of minutes of watching this video, I put it on my wish list. It looks amazing! I'd love to play it on my Switch or phone for example...
Knowing Jon's cooking I was expecting ♨but I guess Jon is secretly more of an Alchemist than I thought 🎊🏆
Yaaay! :) I am so happy that you have decided to play this game, Jon! :) It is my most favorite indie game of recent months and I am so happy that I will be able to watch you playing it
So true :) a series would be great ;)
What an interesting little game. Thanks for bringing it to our attention Jon.
Oh my goodness, a tiny indie game about shopkeeping that i played before Jon! That’s not especially common!
Bloody hell! I knew Jon starts picking up games he missed around this time, but these have been some straight up bangers. Now if only he picks up Spiritfarer we would have the perfect December..
Hmm Interesting idea. I loved the alchemy in Kingdom Come and this looks like a low-res more complicated version. Gonna have to wishlist this one.

Potion seller... I need your finest potions.
Nuke potion? I'm pretty sure that's a tree, but thankfully that fits the goal of using tree stumps to fertilize the land
Thank you John!!!!
"Potion seller, i am going into battle and require your strongest potions"
that game looks "flipping" awesome! im a new subscriber, been really enjoying your stuff man!
Mama always said life is like an alchemical garden. You never know what you're going to get.
I literally had this exact game idea like 4 years ago.
so this is basically "Banished from the Heros' party." The Game
I was expecting a haggle with the hag pun for the witch.
This game is completely my jam, if only it was on Mac.
You can run a 'virtual machine' (basically a Windows emulator, in this case), then play the game in it.
Careful who you brew potions for Jon. Certain people will cause you to lose reputation, like that guy who poisoned the vegetables.
I think if you watered down the fire potion @13:56 a bit, you could've made tier 3, because the potion in progress always waters down to the center of the "map"
Oh yay I saw someone play this on an ASMR channel. Super fun
Jon's comment at the start about not being the protagonist just because you run a potion shop, clearly shows he hasn't learned of the myriad of anime and Manga where the protagonist runs a potion shop.
Moonlighter taught us the same. Shopkeepers have some wild nights...
For some reason, I'd just watch a whole livestream of this lol
Seems like a good Livestream candidate
This game look really interesting. Thanks for informing us about it 🙂👍
name: weak potion of fire
marketing: "explosion potion :)"
"What if we made an alchemy game?"
"Based on what?"
"Geometry."
"What?"
"GEOMETRY."
This game looks awesome! I need to get my hands on it as soon as I can!
"DO YOU DO POISON?"
"COULD A COLD POTION BE SO COLD IT ACCIDENTALLY FROZE A PERSON, PERSON WHO LOOKS LIKE THIS?"
"What is an explosion but fire that kills you?"
That title was like taking a H2O2 bath
would love to see more
This looks great, I need to buy it.

Presumably you'll end up having to run from the 'law' who assume you're a witch......
been keeping a eye on this for a while but will mess with it til it is out of early access
Thank you for the video.
I love the good value potion lol
Love it. Thank you
just be wary of a certain crazy potion addict saying he's going to battle, while asking for the strongest possible potions.
Okay I haven't watched this video yet but there better be at least half a dozen Potion Seller references either by the game or by Jon or I won't be satisfied.
I last did this in Kingdom come deliverance.

"Do you do poison?"
If you wanna make potions but also hack bandits with a huge sword, I suggest you play Kingdom Come Deliverance.
