Building My Ultimate PS2 for 2023

Hi everyone! Sorry that it's taken me so long to get this video out, I've been super busy moving countries. I hope you enjoy this and look forward to more frequent Retrostalgia going forwards!
After seeing all the hype around modding PS2's, I really wanted to mod one to play all of my childhood games. The PS2's in Australia and New Zealand came in very limited colors, so I really wanted one of these Japan only white ones. This involved me swapping the Power Supply Unit with an AUS PS2.
In addition to the PSU, I cleaned a lot of dust, replaced the dead battery and installed a hard drive with freeHDboot. This is the only tutorial that worked for me to install the freeHDboot: • How To Mod A PS2 With ... . Older methods were just giving me a black screen.
Finally, I topped it off with an aftermarket component cable to take advantage of the best quality 480p signal that the PlayStation can output.

If I wanted to play with the original resolution, are there modern monitors or TVs that support it?
I can't use CRTs because I'm sensitive to their buzzing.

I play mine on a new TV and have it looks perfectly fine, no problem with resolution

Hi! In the video I'm using a cheap aftermarket Component cable which gives a much better quality image on modern TV's when compared to the original Composite cables.
Additionally, if you have a North American PS2, a lot of games are compatible with 480p resolution which looks MUCH better on modern displays. So turn 480p(progressive scan) on in the game's menu if that's the case for you.
