I'm an old guy but way earlier in my life, I was a Mormon and served as a Missionary in São Paulo, Brasil. I grew up in Utah amongst the members and my family was very active in Mormon church stuff. I was married age 24(almost too late for Mormons) and we have 3 adult children, none of who are active in the church. I was divorced in 1997, after 24 years of being a good Mormon because I decided that I was gay. Long story, interesting only to me. I lived in Las Vegas and had some nice men friends, details NYOB. I moved back to Utah after I retired to be nearer to my kids and grandkids. My ex-wife always invites me to dinner when she has the kids for a birthday etc. I am happy that I came out to any and all, but never found a permanent boyfriend and I regret that. One time when I was still in Las Vegas, I ran into a guy I'd gone to high school with, another good Mormon. He was there at Las Vegas Pride with his husband of 22 years. I so wish that could have happened to me.

I converted from Catholic to Mormon when I was 10, I left the church when I was 16 because I liked men and didn’t want to be celibate or lying to people who I truly cared about within the church. I am 22 and currently in the Navy and so far my experience has been quite positive with my fellow shipmates, surely different from your days where the environment was mostly prejudicial. My advice is to find somebody, also with us gay men I think there is less of a stigma when it comes to age gap so you can always find some twink, my point is don’t give up on finding love 🏳️🌈❤️

Agreed with all your choices, especially “Boys” and “Ten Year Plan.” Currently obsessed with “Merli: sapere aude” a Spanish series about a group of University students with a super romantic gay storyline. Two seasons, 8 episodes each.

Unfortunately it’s a sequel to the wonderful series Merli in which Pol lead character in Sapere meets and eventually falls in love with Bruno, Merli’s son. Sapere should have been the story of when Pol realised Bruno is the love of his life but the writers didn’t include much of Bruno and te actor was so pissed off he walked. Watch Merli.
And do not miss Spanish series Elite. Season 5 has incredible gay love story at its centre wit two gorgeous guys.

I watch Latter Days every year around Thanksgiving. It's a wonderful story of finding your true family and inner light. Really enjoying Heartstopper (season 1). I've watched it a couple times and get tears of joy each time. Latter Days and Heartstopper both have excellent casts.

The Way He Looks, God's Own Country, 4th Man Out and 10 Year Plan are all movies I own and love. It's such a relief to view gay movies that end with the protagonists in a loving relationship.

I love 4th Man Out, which is definitely an underrated film. I know American gay-themed movies are generally not as well-written, directed, and acted as their European and Latin American counterparts. (It is not a prejudice. It is A FACT.) However, both 4th Man Out and 10 Year Plan are clearly exceptions to the rule. If you look at their DVD covers, you might think they are just typical American gay movies full of stereotypes, featuring handsome actors with zero acting skills. But this is so far from the truth. I especially like the leading character in 4th Man Out. When he said to his mom: "I am gay, and I am shy too," my eyes bawled.

I strongly recommend the movie "Stadt, Land, Fluss" or "Harvest" it's a german movie and has kind of a docma-style to it. A silent, romantic movie with a happy ending. There is not much dialogue but the way the characters express themselves without words is absolutely fantastic. The characters are so deep and lovely and the actors did the most amazing job.

Addition to my additional post. I loved this movie shown here, Latter Days. It's the story of a young missionary from Idaho who gets sent to Los Angeles to do that. He meets a handsome guy in their apartment complex and ends up getting close to this guy and ends up getting sent home.....there's a happy ending
Expand your horizons and go back a little in time with "Trick" or "Maurice" or "Beautiful Thing". Perhaps too old for Rainbow Moods to know about, but definitely worth a watch.

Both are EXCELLENT movies. And yes, the movie "The Perfect Wedding" (2012) with Jason T. Gaffney and Eric Aragon listed here as # 10 ... WONDERFULl!!

Oh I loved "Before The Fall"! Ethan Sharrett and Chase Conner were wonderful in that film. I am also fond of "Shared Rooms". Multiple, intertwined subplots lead to a sweet ending. And it takes place around Christmastime.
Beautiful Thing should have been on this list.
The Christmas Setup. No segs and nudity (a deal breaker for many) romance and a happy ending in a holiday season. 🌹

For a very long time, it was de rigueur for gay romances to end badly. Many UK films still feel as though they must end badly. Nice to see a list of happy endings.
Faux bad endings are just as bad as only happy endings.

I've seen all of these but Going Down in La La Land. Boys, 10 Year Plan and Fairhaven are excellent.
I enjoyed "Pit Stop". Two attractive men find each other in a small Texas town (of all places). Bill Heck is dreamy. Also a big fan of "Heights" with Glenn Close, James Marsden, and beautiful Jesse Bradford. Then of course, the movie "Happy Endings", an ensemble cast with several gay characters. Again, Jesse Bradford and also Lisa Kudrow, Tom Arnold, Maggie Gyllenhaal. Nice tie-up at the end, of all the characters' fate.

I've watched Latter Days (several times). A movie I highly recommend is "Trick" (1999). It's a sexy romantic comedy. 2 guys trying to find a place for a 1 night stand but find so more. It's such a feel good movie with some great songs sprinkled in.

Both great movies...but I wasn't sure about how Akron was going to end until the last scene! A lot of baggage from the parents tearing a couple of young men apart, but it worked out well...but the underlying issues were still there, so you hope things worked out for them

I've just subscribed to this channel so I don't know if you talked about some of the movies I will mention below. Regarding the ones you recommended here, I've already watched 8 out of 10, of which one I didn't like (personal opinion, no spoilers, I won't tell which one).
Here are some movies that I don't get tired of watching from time to time:
1) Beyto. This is a Swiss movie about a Turkish young man who falls in love with a German. As he lives with his family you can imagine the many issues that he will have to overcome. Happy ending.
2) The Falls (a trilogy). Somewhat similar to Latter Days but much deeper. A lot of conflicts and a perfect picture of Mormon life. Happy ending (after years of struggling for it, that's the reason why it is a trilogy).
3) Breaking Fast. The live of an atypical immigrant Muslim family. Happy ending too, which I personally think the main character doesn't deserve. I won't give details as I still have an ongoing discussion since I posted something about the many issues I found after watching this one until I learned all the lines by heart.
4) Shelter. A sort of coming out story with family drama and happy ending for all.
5) Breakfast with Scot. An interesting Canadian movie about a gay couple who suddenly must take care of a boy (Scot). Spectacular ending.
6) Violet Tendencies. Impressive. Hilarious (even the dramatic parts end up being festive). Many happy endings for lots of people. A light movie to watch during this time of the year.
There are much more movies I could also recommend but I don't want to compete with you guys! 🤣
One or more things, though. There are very interesting Indian movies online (there are at least three different UA-cam channels showing these ones, which are interesting due to the cultural differences and what gay men in India must go through to have a "happy ending"). There are also some exciting Brazilian movies (there are also three of four UA-cam channels, if not more, showing them. The vast majority with happy endings). There are also many European productions which showcase how gay people deal with their lives in different cultures. Europe must be Europe but still it has some issues when it comes to dealing with LGBTQIA+ topics.

Breaking Fast is a very fine film, deep and very funny , but poignant as well, and very illuminating... excellent acting with ensemble cast in addition to the leads...
Canadian Wildhood is one of my all time gay favorite movies. You need to watch
Its amazing how they tie Native American culture and nature together in Nova Scotia as LINCOLN searches for his mother. You will love the ending I promise and may learn things about Indigenous people and their language.

"Big Eden" is a great happy ending film. "Arizona Sky" is cheesy but nice. "Eat with Me" is a great feel good movie. "Longhorns." "Morgan" is a great movie and great music too. "Coffee Date." "Just Say Yes." Improbable plot but I loved the movie nonetheless.

The 10 year plan was a paint by numbers but still ok. Latter days is very intrigant and the unedited version has more skin. You missed Akron. One of the best happy ending films because it was not solely about a gay theme. Akron is a film in a world where you never need to "come out" but just are. difficult to explain what I am trying to say.

absolutely one of the best yes!, and a few more recent include, not mentioned yet on this list above: Just Friends, delightful movie set in the Netherlands amidst windmills and surfing, believe it or not; Queens, (Reinas) from Spanish TV, about the huge gay wedding after marriage equality happens in Spain; and Out in the Dark, set in Israel/Palestine about love between men from each culture there. This one includes very heavy moments, and yet i believe that it ends overall happily... most people including me, want a sequel to complete the story... (this one is free on UA-cam) 🌹🌍🌈♥💕
