Duuuude!!! Loving it!! it’s everything you said you were going to do it’s pretty cool to see this thing coming together I think we need to do an episode once you get this thing driving come up and stay for the weekend and we will do a full edit on body and paint!!!
Pretty awesome to see my vision come together. Taken about four years but that’s how these go! I can’t wait to get some paint on it! Gonna be like a brand new truck
Best video yet! Building a Great rig and channel momentum!!🤗🤓
Thanks man!!
I’ve been working all morning on my k5 flushing and cleaning the radiator several times.
After finished got inside to watch this video.
Bro! Your build it’s looking great
Thanks man! It’s taking a long time but I think it’s gonna be worth it.
So stoked for you brother! I remember watching that first video of you driving it home! And to see it be the flag build for your new much deserved space!! Super jazzed!
Thanks man! It has come a long way. I had a vision for it but $$, space and parts were a big hurdle to overcome. Slowly chipping away and here we are!!!
@@MerricksGarage mad respect! It's all about the hard work!
Can't wait to see this thing going!! 🇺🇸
Love it ! can`t wait to see it on the trails .
looking good mister! i really wish that the guy who made my high mount for my burb cummins swap still did it but Ford had a stock high mount for the cummins medium duty trucks. i don't have the part numbers but they are out there! i'm giggling a little bit at the body clearance issue only because it's a right of passage it seems and i did the same thing. when i wanted to run the exhaust i used a diamond eye kit for the first gen dodge truck. the only part that worked really well was the down tube from the turbo and i wrapped it to keep some heat off the HVAC box. the rest of the exhaust i chopped up, pie cut, buttwelded to get what i wanted and it turned out real good. i like that kind of work anyways... looking back i should have bought the mandrel U bends, the down tube and a couple 4" diameter sticks... one other thing i did that i really like is i took the mechanical lift pump off and used a AirDog fuel preporator. after years of messing with these motors, i did not want to push that primer pump even one more time, hahaha! i don't think my old thumbs are up for that marathon anymore!
Yea it’s beating me up pretty good but it’s gonna be worth it. I have priced most of the stock parts and it seems a kit is the way to go now. The body lift seems like a well worth expense as much as I don’t want to!
@@MerricksGarage i did a one inch to ease the way. like you, i didn't want to but it helped me greatly 35k miles later when i had to pull the transmission for rebuild. i knew i was going to do that when i originally installed it.
Love the progress!! That's going to be one badass rig when done.
Great progress James. I was really board, so I stayed till the end... HA! The burb is coming together so well and I cant wait till the next adventure!
Ha ha. Nice work! Looking forward to getting this beast out!
looking good so far
Not sure about Cummins but my 7.3L Super Duty has an intermediate frame mounted fuel pump to transfer fuel from the tank to the engine and the engine pump pressurizes the injectors.
Im doing a 78 burb now. Its factory 4 speed and 3/4 ton. I put a 2.5 inch lift on. Someone stuck a 14 bolt rear in it. Only bas a corporate 10 up front. Looking for a dana 60 front. It will be gloss black. Good luck man
Good job Broseph!
Salute to Jhon
Love the build, i just bought a 94 k2500 burb id love to do a sas on it doing alot of research before i move forward on it. Keep the vids coming
The sas would be a good way to go and fairly easy
I know you said you didn't like body lifts but looks like you might need the off road design 1 inch pucks
starting to look like a beast!
Looking good james. 👍
Ah so much I wish I can do that dam California
Do you get more flex out of the tension shackle than doing a shackle flip with 6” shackles. I mean would you have done these on your K5 with 56s in the old days.
100 percent yea. You can use a longer therefore more comfortable spring and get crazy droop as the shackle can drop
I have a 91 as well k5 and I'm running out of ideas for it even considering to sell it I was going for electric but it's 11grand just for the tesla engine conversion Chevys kit is like 30 and both still need to get the batteries separately not included
Yea I don’t think that is completely viable yet from a financial perspective. I look forward to when it is. Don’t know if I would do a Squarebody but a Tacoma etc could be cool
Now I'm stuck with this question... What's that air system and did you put one on the blazer ? Would you be willing to put out a video about air systems ? Thx!
It’s a viair system. Running airbags so need a compressor. I run the power tank on the blazer. Yea a video seems to be in order
@@MerricksGarage thanks !
Cool! Thought you sold it, glad to see you did not!
No, I am building two more to sell after this one!
you are a beast
I saw your Blazer driving south on the 14 through the AV a few weeks ago!
Headed back from Rubicon!
@@MerricksGarage Awesome! How was it?
Love your drive train choice, not sure what transfercase you plan on running but have a question for you. Do you think a 12v with the tremec bolted up to a magnum box/205 would fit in a k5's shorter wheelbase while still having about a 6-8 inch lift?
💯 %. The Tremec is actually fairly compact. That would be a kickass application
Thanks bro! Can't wait to see the finished build. Will you have a list of all the parts used in this?
Yea I’m building a big Amazon list that will have all the small parts etc
I’ve been looking for a D60 and I gave up. I’m not spending 1500$ on a axle that’s also going to need a rebuild which is all you see around here. Think I’m gonna just do a 8 lug upgrade on my 10 bolt and upgrade the guts. Do a crossover and be done. I’m not gonna go bigger than 35’s and it’s more a over lander than a rock crawler.
Sounds like you don’t need a Dana 60. They are great but they aren’t always necessary. Also $1500 is the price of the axle. Parts and labor bring it closer to $6000 very easily
@@MerricksGarage I was just wanting the biggest off the bat so I knew it would last but it makes more sense to just get a 14bolt for the rear and upgrade to a 8lug in the front and some 30 spline axles and carrier
What is the frame coated in? Looks good
I use Steel-it paint. It’s not cheap but the stuff is fantastic!!
You should put a fuel sump in your tank while your body is off and the tank is empty. Do it now before you complicate it with putting stuff back together.
The factory tank has a sump in it already!
@@MerricksGarage sorry. I meant a fuel sump where the pick up goes under the tank and draws fuel from below.

Hey merrick, gotta ask, were can i get a turn key 12 vavle from? Were did u get urs from? How much? Thanks!!!
www.4btengines.com
What do you mean the body doesn't line up perfect on the mounts half a century after leaving the factory. Can't wait to see what you do with the front and rear DS. Man these trucks are like our legacy built to outlive the builder.
Very well said. Designed to outlive the builder
Stupid question. How do you drain the air tank mounted on its side?
The drain is not gonna work perfect but I was limited with mounting. Will just unbolt
@@MerricksGarage copy that. thank you!
Put a 1” ord body lift
Yea I’m thinking it’s gonna be necessary
I heard supposedly in California once you put in a Cummins in an 80s car it becomes exempt? I wonder if its true
So after this cummings project im sure u will tackle a 7.3 next
I do like the 7.3!
I don't want to do the LS swap any more with dam gas prices it looks to be not Worth it
Man, I don't know, but I think your rear pinion angle might be off at 11:15 LOL
Just a touch. Gonna run a triple cardan joint, should be good. 😂
@@MerricksGarage Just get one of those new Slinky drive shafts...
What size lift
About 7”
Nice truck but shave the head grow the beard and your rockin
