One of the best voices of 80’s rock!
One of the best voices of all the times... and musician as well !.
RICHARD MARX
I never thought Bryan got the respect he deserved. Always loved his songs and his voice. And you've got to respect a man who bought his first guitar at the Five and Dime.
He basically ghost-wrote Aerosmith's entire comeback career. He's got to have MANY dump trucks full of money, and sometimes I like it when something is mine alone (plus some like-minded people). But yeah, underappreciated no doubt. He was offered the opening song in Top Gun (and you know he would have written something better than _Highway to the Danger Zone_ ), but he demurred because he read the script and thought it glorified war too much. I admire people whose convictions also allow them to turn down dump trucks of money.
Another great Canadian artist! Really enjoying this Canadian content. Not enough people realize what fantastic singers/song writers/storytellers come from Canada.❤🇨🇦

These are just a few that come to my mind without searching the internet. I’m not Canadian, i’m Austrian. 🇨🇦🤗🇦🇹
Bryan has one of the best voices ever. I have played many of his songs in the various bands I have been in. The dynamics of his songs are second to none
One of the best rock vocalists ever imo and very underrated. Incredible live band...one of the best concerts I have seen.
I saw Bryan for the first time as a warm-up act for Foreigner in the spring of '82 in Lubbock while in college. I had heard "No More Lonely Nights" a few times on the local college radio, but didn't think it sounded particularly well recorded, but obviously a good song. Two songs in, I was just blown away how good he and the rest of band were - one of the best live performances I had ever heard (and I had been to countless concerts by that time). The pinnacle was a blowout performance of "Fits Ya Good" - I actually felt sorry for Foreigner going on after that one. Bought the album the next day and have been a fan ever since. To this day, I would put "Everything I Do" against any song ever written - just brilliant... :)
Keith Scott’s lead guitar was the perfect complement to Bryan’s songs. It provided just the right melodies and rock & roll edginess that elevated great pop songs. I remember seeing a video of Bryan as a very young 18 year old playing pop tunes on piano on a Canadian variety program. He was talented but there was no inkling of how huge a success he would become. The last time I saw him in concert it’s was just 3 of them on stage with Brian playing bass guitar and the band sounded fabulous.
That is true for the most part. In this track there is much tasty melodic overdubs. Some are just single notes that are memorable
CRAZY stuff. The bass line has clever parts during the verses chorus and middle break. Pegasus is right because the song is plain fun to play.
Bryan Adams and the guys from Loverboy, and Aldo Nova, are Canadian. Canadians are nice, unless they're lawyers.
God I hate lawyers.
Bryan Adams says something that's wonderful. Brian creates a sound that is simple, solid, and real.
In terms of form and function this creates something that's very strong. One it doesn't sound like it's trying too hard. Two it's not cheesy.
Three it speaks a common truth.
Rock on Mr. Adams, thank you for the sincere effort. You rate..
Plus, everyone knows that THE BEST hockey is in Canada. 🏒 They always take GOLD in The Olympics!
@@robincortez6586 I met a guy from Canada who played hockey with Gretzky. He was a prime specimen.
He was on his way to Princeton and was offered $40,000 to sign with the Islanders. His agent told him to skip it and have a good time at Princeton.
As he was getting on the plane he got a call from the manager of the Islanders who upped the signing bonus to $400,000. He was 20 years old and bought his first car with a debit card. The guy at the Ford dealer said "no really how do you want to pay for this?" He told the car dealer to go ahead and run the card everything is going to be fine.
He played hockey and went to Princeton. He was there when Gretzky made the final score of his career. He told me he felt like Forrest Gump. He also said everybody knew the Russians were juicing. Rock on.
You hit the nail on the head in your description of Brian Adams’ overall consistency as a singer, musician and songwriter. I remember when the album to the song came out; it was played heavily on the radio as were other songs from the album such as “Summer of ‘69.” You provided great guitar and vocal demonstrations of the composition-I always appreciate when you do this. When I think about Brian, he was truly professional and very talented. Once I read this “critic’s” reference to Brian as “Pass me the Halls Menthol Lyptus” in a magazine; I haven’t heard any more from this critic since then. You brought up another great point about how Brian remains active as a musician. He is truly a total package of talent. Thanks for a wonderful analysis, Fil.
I always preferred this song to 'Summer of '69' though the latter was much more ubiquitous back in the day. This is just so *musical* for mid-80's roots-rock.

Thank you, Fil. One of my favorite songs. Watched this twice. Artistry and analysis. Admire both. ❤️🌟
The 80s had such a definitive sound. Must be why so much nostalgia.
Love Bryan Adams. Been to 4 of his shows. Great live performances.
Vanishing very under rated song from waking up the neighbours album
Ohhh man,lucky you !
This Canadian Girl Loves Him .
@@TheFellowshipoftheBooks 👍
He opened for Journey on 1092. He was perfect!! Epic concert!!!!!! 9 rows from stage!!!! Again with Survivor in 1984!!!! Great choice!!!! Thanks Fil ! Great analysis!!!!!!
1983!!!! 😂 no glasses on
I was not a fan of Bryan's work early on but I saw him perform live on a show (I don't recall which) where he proved to me he is the real deal with that performance. He has a command of the stage and audience that few can claim. His backup band was top notch also. Another great one Fil. Keep 'em rolling. My days without a dose of Fil aren't great days !! EDIT: I am pretty sure Saturday Night Live was the show.
Hi Fil! One of the best singers of all time! He isn’t bad looking either! He just has one of those voices that you could listen to all day! Summer of 69 always takes me back to my youth! ✌️
When I did have a chance to see Bryan Adams concert back in the day▪️His band was absolutely one of most put together shows I have ever seen ☑️
Great video Bryan is definitely one of the best live performers ever and I have seen quite a few over the decades and also one of the friendliest ,nicest and down to Earth entertainers to his fans A group of us met him outside the arena a few hours before the concert and assumed he was a local there for the concert until he mentioned he was performing that night says everything about his humility and attitude He was super friendly to everyone he met out there that afternoon just hanging out with us everyday people and he definitely rocked the place that evening
Had the pleasure of seeing Bryan live twice here in Canada . In 1987 and again in 1992. Great high energy concerts. Have most of Bryans albums. As a songwriter he is so versatile. Has the knack of writing such melodic catchy stuff! His gravel voice is automatically recognizable. One of Canada's BEST! Thanks for a great demo & spot on analysis Fil!😎🎼🎶🎵🇨🇦🇨🇦
Thanks!
This is what happens when a good tight band comes together , And Bryans vocals and playing all comes together , great job Fil SPOT ON
Bryan Adams also wrote songs for the Disney Movie "Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron". My daughter loves that movie and Bryan Adams. I can't believe she was only 2 when it came out in 2002. We have the sountrack CD in our collection.
Bryan has always been great. I first heard his music when Cuts Like a Knife was released. Been a fan ever since. My wife and I finally had the opportunity to see him live a few years ago, and we were stunned that he still sounds exactly the same today as he did back in the 80’s! And he is such a pro at leading his audience on the musical journey right along with the band. I remember watching Live Aid on live television. It’s always been my opinion that the only band to rival his performance that day was Queen. I mean, really...the dude just ROCKED at that show!
Back in the mid - 1990's, I was driving to work listening to BBC Radio1 breakfast time show. The DJ, Chris Evans said he was going to play Bryan Adams latest single "The Only Thing That Looks Good On Me (Is You)". It was decided that they were going to phone Bryan and speak to him live on air. So they make the call and after many rings Bryan picks up the phone. After exchanging pleasantries and some conversation, Bryan says he was sorry that he took so long to answer "but I was in the bath, man!" The call ends and they play the new release. A short while later, a message comes through to Chris Evans. Bryan had phoned back and said that they had played the new record "half a beat too slow". So the studio techies check the disc player and apparently the fine tuning of the playing speed control was adjusted into the minus/slow segment. I was certainly impressed and Bryan Adams went up and up in my estimation!
Some of my BA favourites - "Cuts Like A Knife", "When The Night Comes", "Straight From The Heart". Great songs that work with his band (and what a band!), acoustic and solo. Bryan seems like a decent bloke. And his work in photography has shown is another side of his talents. Rock on Bryan for many more years! Thanks for this analysis Fil. Stay safe.
Just remembered. I think Bryan was born in Kingston, Ontario. But as his formative years as a musician were in British Columbia, he picked up the nickname "The Groover From Vancouver".
Great review Fil! Saw Bryan live about 10 years ago. Wow! He' was brilliant Just him on bass backed up by just a drummer and guitarist. The power of his voice is indeed stunning and he's a fabulous live performer as well. He's known for his ballads, but live, It's obvious he's a rocker at heart. True legend.
I was lucky enough to see him in a small theatre playing his hits with just him on acoustic guitar in 2008 or so. He was a one man band that night and it was amazing.
Even before you said this was a favorite of yours I was thinking this would really suit you well to cover. I could really see you doing this one. Honestly, we could all live without you for a little while if you wanted to take some time and do something, an original or a cover. We would miss you know doubt but there's years worth of back log to keep us entertained for a little while and maybe you could just do the livestreams to stay connected.
Would also love to hear Fil do a Bryan Adams cover! And concur about supporting Fil taking some time off from analysis videos & focusing on some new covers or original songs!
Thanks so much for this one Fil. I had forgotten about what a great artist Bryan is.
Oh, thinkin' about all our younger years... Bryan DOMINATED 'My Mtv'
I saw this concert in Filthadelpia when he played here... What a great performer.... The Canadian killer....
He was all over the stage... Tight band... Reckless was a great album...
Thanks professor ... Rock 🎸
Can testify that his performances were always phenomenal.

I concur... He was explosive.. Everything from the heart ... 😊

Another thing I'd like to ad ..hes a really nice guy... Wholesome... Clean... I never heard trash about him... Clean cut... Hard working...
@@kensod6034 agree 100 percent. RUSH another great band are in the same character. Just good personalities
I got to seee Bryan in concert in 1983, He opened for Journey on the Frontiers tour!!! Awesome!!
Awesome analysis of this great Bryan Adams song! I heard the bass and other elements that you mentioned in a whole new way. Great education and guitar lesson!
Thanks!
He seems to have so much fun singing and performing.
I love you man. The fact you talk up a national treasure like Bryan made my day! I've seen him so many times and he is always fantastic.
My very first concert was Bryan Adams opening for Bruce Springsteen in Philadelphia; I think it was 1984. Talk about a memorable experience, I had the biggest crush on him!
I like playing lots of instruments, but the bass is the one that keeps me coming around, because I love how it's a pivot instrument, and how good bassists know when they're part of the rhythm section and when they need to provide melodic support.
The communication between the bass line and the kick drum in this song is one of the best in pop music of any era. Bryan Adams and his band are just so good at what they do.
Bryan Adams will be the last of the great rock acts, they don't make 'em like him anymore, absolutely love him. And what a great analysis, they just keep getting better, fantastic to watch.
Thanks!
I saw him back on the Waking Up the Neighbours tour and was amazed at just how good a show he put on. The music was great, but it was how he interacted with the crowd and really kept them energized throughout the show that impressed me. Rewatching this video to see his reaction after singing the first two lines was a riot.
Run To You. I first head this song being played while the credits of some movie or other were rolling. It took a while to find the song, but I did. It was the intro and the chord progression in the middle of the song that stuck and stayed that way until I bought the cassette tape, stuck this into the machine in the car and it was all set. That was around '92. Now as technology has changed, all my favorite tracks are now MP3 files. Run to you was and still is a perennial favourite- a classically beautiful and plaintive song that's easy to identify with because it's not uncommon for both men and women to hear Run To You and know that the song describes their own experience so truthfully that it hurts. Happily enjoyed you analysis, Fil. Many thanks.
Bryan Adams!!!! One of my faves. There’s nary a school memory I have that doesn’t bring to mind one of his songs.
i saw Bryan live... i was there only because my lady friend wanted to be there... and, of course, i knew every song... they never seemed to end... and he was so good, so likable, so "professional" in the sense that he never once made you feel like he was ever just going through the motions... he has a higher natural chest range than me, but i always love to sing his songs... as an exercise almost... rock on, Fil! ya boi d
I started to take notice of Bryan Adams when (MTV) played the video of "The Summer of 69" I can relate to "those where the best days of my life!" I've learn a few things on Bryan tonight that I did not know. thanks Fil.
Thank you Fil, I've had an incredibly rough day and I needed your positivity in the worst way. Though the song threw me right into the memory of my horrible second marriage, your good heart and great attitude got me past both challenges. Wow, this song still does carry some burning however.
It's tough to balance the very enjoyable musical aspects of this song with the lyrical content about an intense affair. I imagine that Fil, in his youth, never thought of it as a song about cheating on your partner.
@@donnacolwell3988 I completely agree. It just happened that this was a song that got the eternal recycle at our freshly bought out radio station, the 80's were BRUTAL on radio during those years. Only play the top of the pops, even though America didn't actually have that. Still, to hear it discussed in a matter with such positivity, that took me from an ugly place to where I could enjoy it again. Boys of Summer; however, I don't know. It would take an extra Fil moment to make that a place to feel good about again. Dirty Laundry, was from the same era, but that reminds me of her evil cheating behind, rather than the pain. So, feel free Fil. Go nuts, lol
Damaged262 Turn a negative into a positive and request Turn me Loose by Loverboy. I heard someone phone in and request that song on the radio after his divorce
Fil!! Bryan Adams, where do I begin
Grew up listening to him
I noticed he changed from singing a "you" to more towards a "yuh" as the years went on. Great vocalist.
The summer of '69 was one of, if not the best summer and year of my life!! I was 24, just out of the military, had a great job, bought a brand new '69 Mustang Boss 302 for $2800 cash, and...girls, girls, girls!! Great review, yet again, Fil!! Cheers, mate!! :)
Thanks!
Summer of 69 is one of my favorite songs of his.. would love to see him live.. ❤️
Fil, great choice doing Bryan Adams. Definitely an 80's sound. Fun times ! Thanks for the awesome vids with so much info.
Man alive, how I miss CONCERTS.
Saw Bryan Adams a couple of times live in Holland in the ‘80s. Great live band and lthey had a of fun on stage!
Thanks for sharing Fil!👍👍
WTG I LOVE BRYAN AND YOU AS WELL MATE!!!! AMAZING VIDEO AND CONTENT. KEEP UP THE WINNING STREAK!!!!!
Thanks!
Saw him on the Reckless tour at Meadowlands NJ. He's an absolute legend of the 80's. You're absolutely right Fil, you just can't help but feel better after hearing a Brian Adams song. Heaven is actually my and my wife's wedding song. 😉
Bryan Adams sounds as good today as he did way back then. Tina Turner had Bryan sing "All For Love" at her wedding in 2013. Also another Canadian, Paul Anka, wrote the lyrics to "My Way" which she had a recording of Sinatra singing. Glad to hear you are a big fan of Adams as well Fil. He has been one of my favorites.
thanks Fil thats one of my favorites of Brian my band covered this song not now i'm 66 cant remember to brush my teeth let alone riffs and licks or hooks can't sing, thirty some years makes a difference thanks for featuring this song you can feature a'lot of his music
He had a ton of great songs, always liked his music.
I remember a time, back in the disco era of 1978, when young Bryan hadn't developed a raspy voice yet, and released "Let Me Take You Dancing"...
Bryan was a storyteller with his songs so much passion and that raspy voice ❤🎸🥰
Main man another Stellar video Bryan Adams was awesome when he hits that line. "yeah I'm going to run to you" in the outtro top of the line vocals for sure love you brother peace
What a Rockmeister this man is Fil! There isn’t a song that Bryan Adams has written or played that I didn’t think was sensational! Would have loved to have seen him live but never got the chance! Thanks so much for this Fil....awesome! Great demo too! Cheers Mario! 😀👌🤘
Another great review. Your enthusiasm for the artists that you cover is infectious!
Thanks Fil for the bonus guitar lesson also. Fun and easy to play those great riffs and chord sequences.
The "So Far So Good" CD was a breath of fresh air at the time. Good stuff. I still dig it out from time to time. Thanks, Fil!
Wow! What a great breakdown! Pegasus sure flew all over that tasty piece! But how did you know? Listening to that song felt just like going home 🇨🇦!! Loved it so much that I listened through the video twice.… Thanks a bunch ever so much 😎🎶. Let that rock ROLL!!
Saw him when he was touring with Journey oh so long ago-BA signed my Album at Tower Records-so cool. Great show-thank you
What a joy!!
Thank you, Fil 🖤🤘🏽
Great memories!!!! Great musician........love this song!!
You mention the quality of his voice, would like to see Paul Young from the early 1980s doing 'wherever I lay my hat' song, he was often referred to as the voice.
Saw him in '87 Into The Fire Tour at Wembley Arena, fantastic artist live and it was before he went all commercial, played stuff from Into the fire and Reckless plus the other early stuff, was one of the best concerts i have ever been to and having a great band helps to, Keith Scott is a fantastic guitarist MTV UNPLUGGED Keiths solo on 'Think About You' to die for.
Just amazing how our Canadian bands connected so much with the world except in the USA
Takes me right back to late 70's early 80's great stuff. Haven't heard this in awhile. Thanks for posting/reacting.
Nice to see a hometown boy appreciated. He lived down the block when getting going. Love his work and his attitude. Also, a talented photographer.
Saw him as the support to the Police in Melbourne back in the 80’s, stole the show and really won over the crowd when he said something about “bullshit”; no one had really heard someone swear at a huge outdoor concert... much more prudent times haha. Missed out seeing him in Bangkok a few years ago when the king of Thailand died and they stopped any form of entertainment for a year! Hope to see him again one day after all this Covid19 stuff 😄🤞😄
Nice haircut, good to see the sparkle in your eyes, and your smile back again...great video thanks for the detailed breakdown.
Such a talent. My fav is Summer of 69. I was the ripe old age of 18 that year. IMO, the 60s was the best decade for music.
Love Bryan Adams! Great analysis from beginning to end, Fil. I agree that sometimes when you know a recording so well, you wish the artist played certain parts the same way live. I also found a lot of value in hearing you express your personal opinion on things as you did during the guitar demo. Would love you hear you do more of that!
Yessss Canada Love !!!! I love these videos !!!! Keep on keepin on !!!!
Love Bryan Adams, great show at the Beacon about 2 years back.
Thanks Fil for video, I still think Bryan Adams is very underrated and under appreciated artist. His songs u hear all time on 1980s radio now and his 1990s stuff. Many would kill to his catologue of music
Your so good! You know exactly what you're doing! You pick up the rifs, you play it so good! Love Wings Of Pegasus!
Thanks!
I've been to a lot of concerts Fil, a lot, but seeing Bryan open for Def Lep I was impressed as hell. Probably the best concert I've been to..
I LOVE Bryan Adams!! Thanks Fil for this fantastic analysis of one of my favourites. Another of his songs that deeply moved me was "Have You Ever Really Loved a Woman?" Totally swoon-worthy. ❤️🥰
Thank you for a wonderful analysis of a very popular artist from my youth as well. His tone and poower in chest voice is amazing!
Keep up the great content brother!
One of the first songs I learned to play a long time ago....I’m old...
This was a most enjoyable watch, Sir
One of Canada's greats of rock. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Brian Adams is one of those artists that put out an album and it seems like every song is a hit. Along with guys like Rod Stewart, Phil Collins, Steve Perry just to name 3. Most of these songs have more than just a song they are memories of important times in my life. Good one Fil. I wish I would have started the guitar when I was young. Maybe one day. OMG was thinking while you were talking. Do you remember MTV videos like Cuts like a knife? Shooting it in an empty pool. Awesome.
Great review. We are all proud of our home-grown talent, who we grew up with in Vancouver, Canada. We all dated, danced, sang along with Bryan. At local concerts in town the audience sings along.
Ooorah. One of my favorites too Fil.
All killer no filler😂👍
You would've loved our cover band back in the '80s Fil
Wasn't the Walkman fantastic. Loved taking big walks all over my town filling my head with the great sounds of my favs. You really are a fan of Bryan. Must be great to just pickup your guitar and start playing and singing like Bryan. You really see a performance from a different angle than the rest of us musically challenged folks. You're interesting. Bryan was born about 40 mins. from me in Kingston Ontario. He has a lot of British roots.
I like it when you get a sense of the performers excitement and you get that smile on your face. I'm not sure if this is a musician thing or not. I play and I do the same thing so any non musicians out there care to chime in ???
Lots of creative talent there in his songs, many great hits. Thanks Fil! 🤗
Yes ! I love this Musician. I would love to see him Live !❤️❤️❤️Love this song!
I love this mans music . He’s really honest . Just Brian being a Humble Human Being .
Yes I did that too. Rasp is super cool . Unique individual. One of my favourite musicians. He has so many great songs . You should do a cover on this Fil . I personally think you knock it out of the park . I can’t stop dancing to this music . Lol. 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘!🤩
He’s definitely someone,I’d invite to a dinner party, and pick his brain ! He’s brilliant. 16 weeks is insane!
Lol,I’d go through the Walkman , it was definitely put to good use .
I agree, if you did a cover of Run to You, it would be phenomenal!
You make it look so easy that’s pretty cool man
Fil, Brian is Great, the first time i heard him on the radio, i hit the Music store, I wore out my Cassette Tapes also, I could not get enough of this band, The right songs at the right Time, Rock on, Cousin Figel
More than two decades Fil's senior, I so appreciate the enthusiasm for boomer/geezer classic rock. (;-) (;-)
Great, genuine, enjoyable dude!
True pro! 👍
Saw him two years ago at The Hydro in Glasgow. Great night, still sounds brilliant live. Love your analysis videos ROCK👌
Bryan is one hell of a musician and I love him. Last time I saw him and the band was in 2019 before the covid thing. They puttedan expectacular show here in basque country. Was a great night and one incredible concert. As Always.
I think also that Keith Scott is an very underrated guitar player cause his solos and guitar arrengement are always jewels.
Nice to see somebody talented that admires them also.
Cheers mate.
This is good. Fan since "Cuts Like A Knife", mostly because of lead guitarist Keith Scott's solos. Overall, great.
man, I remember a band practice then in late '82 and our drummer brought up this tune.
Me, "Screams !"
Another fave later was 'I'll Be Home Again'.
Great song and great playing from KS.
glen kepic I’ve always loved that “Cuts Like a Knife” solo. Super tasteful and melodic without being showy, exactly perfect for the song.
