Duncan
good video, just ensure the entire weapon is in full view in your video.
Yes, please
Yes, very hard to see what you’re doing with most of the weapon out of view, especially if the viewer doesn’t know how to operate it in the first place.
Going to the range tomorrow graduating from handguns to rifles decided to shoot the M&P 15 sport 2 for my first rifle I’ve ever to shot thank you for this video feeling more confident now
Thanks for the video. I just bought an AR. It’s my first rifle. I’ve had a 9mm for decades. Even though the guy at the gun shop went over it with me your video is very helpful before I head to the range. Also, I’m lucky I live in a friendly state.
thank you for posting!

Great video, thank you for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
Thank you very much I am from South Africa and I enjoyed it tremendously and the detail was good.
Happy to help! Glad you enjoyed the video!
My man, very detailed video thank you! My father inlaw and I just got 2 Sig M400 that were former police service rifles. Never owned one buy couldn't pass up on the price. This video helped a ton! I was able to manipulate the rifle in every way. There really wasn't any part in wasn't familiar with cause of the video. That's a bummer about theb10 round limit in your state. I'm in Colorado and we are getting close to that ourselves. Thank you again for the very informative video
Happy to help! Glad you enjoyed the video!
Nice video. Please add one on the take down, cleaning, and reassembly and cycle the AR-15
thaks this was helpful
Thanks for watching! Check out my other videos that you may find helpful.
To make it more clear and safer, you can shoot 223 out of a rifle chambered in 5.56 but never shoot 5.56 out of a rifle chambered in 223.
Thanks for watching!
@@DuncanMeter you’re welcome keep up the good work
A great, simple beginner video on the AR. Thanks for posting this.
If I may offer a tip for solo video recording. Once your camera position is set, place a small reference marker in the center of the frame, on the surface you are recording. Doing this allows you to keep the subject centered in the viewing frame.
Thanks for the tips!
i agree with Darryl T the gun could not be seen for much of the video; needed to be centered. Still it helped me so much!!!!!!!!!! tx and keep it up.
Thanks for watching! Will work on the camera angle for future videos!
Great recording! Man oh man..
I want to get this in California and I can all it needs is a juggernaut tactical button
Great info I see I was Doing something wrong I had to manually pull the plunger back to reload the chamber everytime
Thanks for watching! Check out my other videos that you may find helpful.
@@DuncanMeter I certainly will and thank
The lack of front sight post with a drop in will always look strange to me
Thanks for watching!
thank you for the basic how to operate AR-15, sad to see that the gun laws are getting more strict in the USA. Greetings from Poland.
Thanks for watching!
If you're in Poland then why do you care about US laws?
@@jacksoncornbreadmcbride6763 as a gun owner in Poland US laws impact the situtation on the market. USA has the biggest civilian gun market. If the laws in the US are getting more strict it will reduce the amount of guns which are being manufactured, leading to higher prices and shortages. Also if American citizens will not have access to guns it can weaken the USA and lead to internal conflicts. USA is the only country that by being strong ensures Poland's safety. Also if I want to learn more about guns etc I need to rely on the American content. That's why I follow daily the US laws and politics.
@@Swiwelec how many guns do you need to buy? 😂 Also, gun availability for citizens doesn't make the USA stronger or weaker. That's the silliest thing I've read in a long time. Poland and the USA are good allies, Poland has nothing to worry about. 🇵🇱🇺🇸
you are right. You can see but we can't !!!
I’m curious about your gas block
Did you cut off a front sight post?
I just bought myself an AR 15
question- i had just bought ar 15-556 at a gun show in tampa fl. i do not a safty lock on both sides were do i for it.
Thanks for acknowledging that the forward assist is useful in combat. It wasn't designed for guys hunting deer or tin cans. It was designed for guys hunting Viet Cong.
Thanks for watching!
Or Al-kaeda.
This probably would've been my favorite beginners video if the rifle wasn't halfway hidden on the upper portion of the screen the majority of the time
Thanks for watching! Will definitely make a re-do of it
I don't know if this is.... let's say advisable 1:32. A barrel chambered for 5.56 is fine shooting both 5.56 and .223. Barrels chambered for .223 CAN shoot both, but I don't think it's recommended to shoot 5.56 out of them, apparently even more so for older rifles. I know most people say you can't shoot 5.56 out of a .223 chamber, but that's not technically correct. From what I know, and that's not a lot, best practices say you shouldn't be firing 5.56 out of a .223 chambered barrel. Probably a good idea to stick with that idea for long term usage. Don't think I would be suggesting either chambered barrel can accept either round though. Just my opinion based on research, don't shoot me. I still gave you a thumbs up.
Review the desert eagle
I know it's somewhat controversial , but ...
... the way I understand it :
IF ... a firearm is labeled 5.56 mm, then you can utilized both 5.56 × 45 mm or .223 Remington.
IF ... the firearm is labeled. 223 Remington, then you should 0NLY fire .223 Remingtom ammo !
The logic in this is that the 5.56 mm operates at considerably higher chamber pressures, than the .223 Remington was designed to operate at.
You're correct though, some shooters ignore this and interchange both ways.
The .223 Rem. produces less velocity than the 5.56 mm.
👍😎
Suggestion: make sure the camera is centered.
Thanks for the video. Random question, I just purchased a S&W M&P 15 AR and when I lock the bolt open, the charging handle is really loose and slides back and forth just from moving the gun around even though the bolt is locked open. @5:11 in your video, you locked the bolt open and moved the gun around, but your charging handle didn't slide around. Is there something wrong with my AR or is there something I am overlooking? Thanks.
This is intentional design of all AR 15's. I own a Ruger SR556 and another I custom build and they both do this and is completely normal. Nothing is wrong with your AR. If it bothers you just push the charging handle back in and that will stop the rattle.
I just recently purchased an Anderson Rifle AM15 Optic Ready. It looks like yours but does not have an M4 front sight, just a piece with top rails and no front sling mount. Can you give me suggestions how I can install a sling mount?
May I suggest you install mlok rails or picatinny rails and install the sling that way. It makes it so you can quick detach faster than that sling ring you see on this particular rifle.
Can you put mag in, charge it fire without using the paddle switch ?
Yes, if the charging handle is not locked back and exposing the chamber. Just insert a loaded magazine until it clicks. Then pull the charging handle all the way back and let go. The bolt will push and chamber the ammo without the need to push the bolt release.
But I prefer to lock the bolt back and then insert the magazine then I push the bolt release it makes it easier to load a full 30 round magazine with the bolt locked back.
when charging an ar-15 does the safety have to be on safe or fire or does it matter?
Thanks for watching. Shouldn’t matter what position it’s in
Good instructions however you cannot see whats happening. Your Rifle is not at the center of your camera.
Thanks for watching! I actually re-filmed the video - please check out the latest one - How to use an AR15 (AR-15) for beginners - What you need to know!!

Do I need to pull the trigger once to unlock the hammer after clearing AR rifle, same like clearing a pistol??
No. But like 1911 pistols you need it locked in order to engage the safety. To unlock just put safety to fire position and pull trigger.
Is that a palmetto state armory AR? Just got my first ar15
Thanks for watching!
It is a good content video. Suggestion only, make sure your camera is in the right projection. it is too low in this vid. Thank you
Duncan please redo the video.
Will do! It’s in the list - hopefully in the next month or less
NATO AND WYLDE 5.56 and 223 . 223 only discharges 223
Thanks for watching!
I’m new subscriber, Good video, but center the camera
Thanks for subscribing! Will make a redo of the video for sure as I’ve gotten similar feedback.
U from texas?
I cant see the top part of the rifle so have no idea what you’re referring to unfortunately.
Your content is good, but the rifle is mostly out of the video frame. It's hard to tell what you're doing.
Thanks for watching! Check out my other videos which you might find helpful! I agree with the feedback and will be doing a remake with better video quality and positioning
Would have been a great video had the weapon been in full view the entire video. Many times you could barely see what you were doing to the weapon. Bad camera set up
Thanks for watching! And I will make a re-do as I have gotten similar feedback
are you a firearm instructor, what I mean is do you teach in person.
Un-friendly state 😢
You need a camera guy so people can actually see the rifle.
Thanks for watching
Not an assault rifle but adopted by the armed forces for one reason…
Thanks for watching!
Dude, you gotta re-shoot this video! Great information, but half the stuff you are pointing to are out of frame and can't be seen by the viewer. Hopefully, you review you vids after shooting them. A good 40% of the gun is out of the picture when you're talking about it. Thanks. Again, great info.
Superb video! Well iam finally getting my first Ar-15 I have about a thousand dollars what AR-15 do you suggest?oh bye the way I live in ny only allowed ten round clip.Gun shops around here are not happy with Kathy houchul.
Thanks for watching!
Your gun was out of sigh on to. You had plenty of white cloth showing. 🤔
Thanks for watching and I will be making a remake soon with better quality filming. Check out some of my other videos which you might find helpful, and thx for the feedback.
did you ever remake this video@@DuncanMeter
My 6 month old baby would’ve filmed this better than you did !!
Why don’t you film the floor next time ? Or the ceiling ?
Harsh words! Children shouldn’t be near guns! All joking aside, I have remade the video with much better camera work - please see the most recent and hope it helps
