same here, I think thats because the song gives a feeling of a world thats corrupted, getting destroyed and we need dire measures to do something about it.. its very relevant also to this date.
My father bought me a Genesis from a friend of him who just sold his videogame store. It came with a whole bunch of great games, one of them being this masterpiece. My father is gone now. Thank you dad.
I'm glad you have this game to remember your dad by, I share the same sentiment with certain sega games and my grandmother, shes not doing the greatest thesedays but she made me who I am today.
30 years passed. I was mesmerized watching this intro on my home's living room tube tv. The bluesh background of a big metropolis I have been to only in my imagination. Hypnotized by the soundtrack. It was beautiful. As it was childhood and the world back then. Nowadays I am 44. Watching it again brought the very same emotions. I miss those days.
Watching this felt like my childhood just walked through the door to pay me a visit. It said," Hey wassup Alisha! Long time no see! Good to see ya! Good to see ya!" I use to sit and watch my older bro and cousins play this game. Good times.
Tomorrow, we come back to the streets after 26 years. Streets Of Rage 4 releases. Hearing this intro is emotional. This brought me back to 1991. Getting this game for my birthday. I'm so happy we got a 4th game. This is dedicated to those who waited but have passed on in those years. You all will be walking those Streets Of Rage with us tomorrow.
All 3 polices should be 50 years old now haha. Man, I remembered playing this on Game Gear at my parents’ workplace with the friends nearby at the age of 10 years old. Still remembered it like it’s yesterday. Timeless game and music.
One of the greatest intros of all time man, so damn nostalgic, takes me straight back to being 7 years old and playing this with my little brother in our room on a crappy 13 inch Orion TV/VCR combo.
I remember buying this at a old mom and pop video game store in the lower east side Manhattan NY and me and my brothers and their friends and being floored by it......1991-1992 my god
as of June 17th 2016 i bought sonics ultimate genesis collection and when i turned this game on it blew me away, even as a modern gamer the graphics, sound and gameplay can make some newer games look horrible. i love me some retro games
I never thought I would also be saying at some point "damn...i'm old" but hey, it happens with everyone, ain't it? PS: Nostalgia kicks in with this one. The late 80s early 90s were amazing times so different from today...I'm grateful to be able to say that I kinda experienced them. Even as the little child I was.
Man I was born in 89, growing up in the 90s and seeing how games got better and the emergence of the internet was so fun, I don't think id change growing up in that era for anything else.
I was 4 old, when my father bought me this game... now, I’m 24 old... Just, Now, I returned into my childhood... Nostalgia, Tears, Wanna come back into 90x... Thank u, Yuzo! Thank u for my childhood!
one of my favorite chiptune OST's! very dope beat and perfect for the game... maybe also one of my fav' games to play with a friend back in the day! damn nostalgic
I’m 10 years old... and I adore this masterpiece of a game series... My Dad played Streets of Rage 2 first as a kid and fell in love... He showed me the game and now I’m in love too... Great music, Great game... Good Good Good. Yuzo Koshiro and Motohiro Kawashima rule... And the 4th is out after YEARS! on...the... Streets of Rage...
If only we could freeze time , this game and a few others got me away from the bullies and I would lose myself and forget the world while playing these , these made my childhood great in a rubbish situation at home & in school.
It's great reading the comments, most of them explaining exactly how this makes me feel. It must of been around 1992/3 I first played this game, it was round an old school mates house and I went round straight after school. The second I heard this music and saw the intro video I felt something very different and so awesome from gaming, like a different realm. It's hard to explain exactly, but to this day listening to this music takes me back to the same feelings I got that day 32 ish years ago (just saying that scares me a bit). Freaking amazing.
I swear i wasn't cutting onions. My eyes are watering just from listening to i this. Always used to play this right after school with my best freinds. Man those were the days
I wish they would make a movie or show about this....pretty simple concept, city gets taken over by secret crime orginization, everything is corrupt, 3 ex cops (assume others too) with hella martial arts skills rise up and take em down...on the streets....of rage
Even though Double Dragon pretty much started the beat-em-ups of the 80's/90's, none had such an awesome intro as this, and still today none do lol. Double Dragon always reminded me of NYC. Final Fight reminded me of L.A, and Streets of Rage remind me of Miami lol.
Golden Axe is at least as old as MD. It's probably SEGA's oldest beat-em-up (I don't recall if this series here gives you a rank). But really enjoyed that Conan feel LOL!
I wish that I've watched it earlier. This game is definitely one of the most unforgettable. I've played it when I was 17 now am 49 and I would like to play it again. This is a good work, keep it up mate n thanks.
Uma das melhores épocas da minha vida. Que saudades da minha infância, de quanto eu acordava 7h da manhã pra jogar Streets Of Rage no mega drive lá em 2004. Uma geração toda marcada por esse game
The video was placed 3 years before your comment, its not as if it was bad for its time, also it looks better than some 480p videos I have seen, and whats wrong with a stretched image?
For anyone who was alive and old enough at the time, you can see (hear) the influences from the house/dance music style that was popular at the time (piano chords, heavy beat)
This intro still gives me a goosebumps.
So nostalgic

The intro really sounds like Sadeness (Part I)" by German musical project Enigma.
Mateeee, i was trying to remember the name of that band! was literally an Enigma! I had the same thought!
@@djfrankbrazil8131 that's why Yuzo couldn't get the Super mix in SOR4 :(
I was just listening to Enigma and had a flash back to this intro. Enigma has always been fire. This soundtrack has always been fire.

Как же я обожала эту игру. Когда начиналась эта заставка, почти всегда слушала эту мелодию до конца, так она нравилась
The bassline sounds exactly the same as Enigma - Sadeness! No wonder it gives me the goosebumps! *mind blown*
The sustained feedback intro is very satriani.
It is crazy as a grown up finding out this tune is basically Soul 2 Soul - Back to Life............love it all btw, and Will doing his dance 😂😂😂😂

"what's wrong with a stretched image"
It's stretched
That's whats wrong
It's stretched
I can not dumb it down farther than that
stretched = bad
Games made for 4:3 should stay 4:3
Games made for 16:9 should stay 16:9
