- Here it is finally! The full step by step vlog of lowering Stephen's 2016 Ford F-150 4wd supercrew cab truck. We used the IHC 3/5 lowering kit which I will link below if anyone is interested. looks good. i did a similar kit on a quad cab dodge 2wd. the back was lower then was stated on the kit. ended up putting helper air bags, made it perfect. helped the ride as well
IHC helper bags are currently on the way!

I just installed mine but I got 7 in on the rear. I can’t figure out why. Could it be the shackles? Maybe I put them on backwards? I didn’t know you can do that.
1k is alot of work i just made it myself keep it up

I guess the front leaf spring hangers are only for the 4" drop...keeps it from going any lower? Looks like I'm cutting off a bolt. I guess I'd be able to loosen up the leaf springs and remove them one at a time since I have to disconnect both sides of the leaf springs anyway...

Did you guys have to cut one of the center pin bolts on the leaf spring at all? The Maxtrac flip kit I'm installing is saying to trim one of those center bolts a bit...not sure why...
Edit: Nevermind...it doesn't say in the instructions but one of the pictures shows the trimmed bolt at the bottom of the axle relocate bracket where the axle would sit and it looks like if you didn't trim the bolt the axle would hit it.
Edit edit: Wait a minute...they're not saying to flip those pin bolts like you guys did, instead they're saying to trim one of the bolts? Screw that...I'm just flipping it!
Yeah we didn’t cut anything just flipped them. The rear is a major pain all around.
Did you happen to need to install the carrier bearing bracket after all
No we did do a modification on the stock one though check that video out!

So do you guys think if I went with a 3/5 drop on my 4wd I could still tow my 6x10 enclosed trailer just fine with helper bags? Looks great!!
Talk to the guys at IHC, they are very helpful and will definitely point you in the right direction. I'm considering doing this same 3/5 drop on my 2020 F150 4x4 and they did suggest adding the helper bags if you do light towing. Depending on the weight you are hauling you might just want to go with an air ride system. Without the helper bags it will sometimes bottom out over larger bumps if you're moving too fast. I also talked to someone in florida after seeing their truck with this kit. They suggested upgrading the front struts with the billstein 5100's set for zero lift as well as upgrading the upper ball joints. He suggested Kryptonite ball joints over what the kit has initially, hope this helps...

Hey Brian I got the same exact truck with the two piece driveshaft did you get the vibration or did you modify the carrier bearing Brackett
We modified the carrier barrier bracket. Be sure to check out my other videos. We did a video modifying it!

How much clearance between the top of the rear axle housing and the frame? Can you carry any weight in the bed?
Not sure about exact measurements. He never carries anything super heavy. He does haul stuff from time to time. If the load was heavy enough it would bottom out I’m sure.

Did you have any issues with the automatic emergency brake on the rear?
Think his is manual parking brake. But we had to take it loose.
Never comes in to play. I did a 3/5 with the electric Brake
It's odd that GM gets the whole concept of a factory lower 4wd truck but Ford seems clueless.
How's the ride quality compare to stock height?
Rides like stock. Super smooth.

I've never heard an explanation besides vanity, why anyone would lower their truck. I was think of doing it for better handling and better fuel mileage.
I did it because once I accepted the fact that I would never take my truck off-road, my love for racing took my truck through a natural evolution that ended up with me lowering it. Now not only is my truck fast, it looks fast...and practical!
Because it looks and handles much much better than those lifted high COG POS you see driving everywhere with 35"/37" tires.
WHY would you do this to a 4x4? You have now made the 4x4 pointless .. at this point you could have paid less and bought a 2 wheel drive and it would have been a faster truck.. but now it's an automotive disappointment 😞
Because we can 😎 4 wheel drive still works.
