An extremely British way to end a film. The little ships of Dunkirk save the day again.

I watched this with my mum, she used to listen to Radio Carolina (Radio Rock) and she cried saying she misses it and that this actually did happen. Even playing Procol Harums Whiter Shade Of Pale when it was sinking (she was a child so couldn't help). Amazing film and history too!

    • @kazabushy

Yes, but your ending story is wrong. That was fiction. The boat did not sink until 1980. Radio *Caroline* did the final broadcast in 1967. The final song they chose to play was A Day In The Life. The Beatles!

@@redeye_ Maybe now resurrected but there were 3 original radio Caroline boats moored in different areas. The one that did sink was the Mi Amigo and yes, the last song it broadcast was A Day In The Life.✌️🎶

Suspend all belief and smile it was done for effect and worked. The other way of just slowly sinking and waiting to get picked up by a big ship or whatever does little to make it fit the spirit of the film and theme of us against the world and our fans saving us made it a fun if implausible ending for adults to feel like we could do anything and feel young again too.

Shyam Devadas haven’t seen the U.K. version, but this is definitely the US one. The only difference is the song at the end. Is that what you are referring to? The version I bought in the us plays All day and all night by the kinks while here it’s David Bowie, but the the dancing is the same.

The Bowie song doesn’t hold a candle to the actual ending with Dave Davies crunchy guitar riff into All day and all of the night but I’m sure they replaced it due to copyright laws. Still, I had goosebumps from the film version and none with the 80’s let’s dance sequence from UA-cam.

@@ImaNerdANDaGeek Quite a few things were different.
2:11 - 2:16, 2:19 - 2:25, 2:44 - 2:58 (times approx.) were not seen. We saw a figure escaping the boat after it sank but we didn't see the count's face until he popped up in the water. At 3:32 - 3:34 we see it not long after he popped up out of the water. Then we see him say "Rock N Roll!" and then the characters say it. The final shot is different, instead of ending on Quentin saying "Rock N Roll", it froze on Young Carl after saying "Rock N Roll". The fist at the end from Quentin was also not seen in the American version. It's great to finally see the British version. IMO, its better then the American version.
