I agree with you completely. In an EDC encounter it’s going to be up close and fast. Are you going to have time to even bring the gun to full extension to see the dot? At distance I’d say absolutely yes for the dot. Great video sir.

You are absolutely correct. Point shooting is an absolute requirement for defensive carry. Whether you have a dot mounted or not. I have just recently purchased a g19 gen 5 mos and mounted a holosun scs on it. It is my first dot pistol. I took it to the range and the first thing I noticed was, damn, this makes short work out of distance shooting! But when I backed the target up…well, not so fast. In the end, this pistol will end up in the hands of my spouse, whether or not I venture further with dots is undetermined at this time.

Absolutely, you won't use the sights in a life or death situation. It's just too slow and for sure you don't have time for not seeing your dot and finding it. Train for a real life situation. So point shot... Lol, get good at it

I don’t have a red dot on my edc’s. I have one on my range pistol.
But edc I really don’t see the point. More likely it will be less than 9 feet and you really are just pointing and squeezing the trigger.
    Great topic! 👍🏾💯

Absolutely...No time to look at your dot or sights

I never had a dot on a pistol but I am going to order one just to get use to it. You right red dots seem to be more for competition or long range shots.
But for average self defense encounters the iron sights would be better because that's what I am seeking training with imainly my iron sights

Agreed... I believe in a self defense situation you are more than likely not to use either the sights or dot

I once felt that way. It's not a matter of fineding your dot. if you train with it you'll better understand it. A lot of youtubers, say your enguagement is going to be close. That verywell may be. But it's not a garentee. Stop adding things to your gun you don't want to train with. Everybody want's the gucci gun with all the fixins. You must know everything you add to your gun requires training. Lights Red Dots, Lasers, ect..... Train so that your ready for any encounter. Close or at a distance.

Respect...but even the best shooters skill drops substantially in a gun fight. With that said, one must be honest with their abilities and understand of their level of shooting. We all think we are great until we shoot with a even greater shooter...lol
