I think another reason for Milk's flopping is how much they've increased their prices while they've simultaneously reduced the amount of product they actually give you.
I work at Ulta and we sell SOOOOO much Benefit. Their brow products, mascaras, and the Hula Bronzer are very popular with costumers and they always come to repurchase. A LOT of people absolutely love the Hula Bronzer and will tell me how it’s the only one they ever use. Same with the mascaras and brow products. The blushes they came out with last year are actually really great too! I think that while Benefit isn’t giving us too many new launches, they focus on their core products and maintaining the quality which is very important to their repeat consumers. And when they do release new products, they’re related to the products they already sell. So I don’t think they’re in a flop era, they’re in their Stable Era.
Yesss I am such a benefit girly when it comes to mascara. I always try other options when I run out but I always come back to roller lash because nothing compares for me 😅
I respect the brands that just sell staple products, without relaunching, reformulating, or discontinuing stuff when they have a good thing going. The alternative is just... ew. Constant launches and discontinuing great products to make room for mediocre new ones, all under the pretense of "innovation" (which we all know is a lie). Also the model of constantly launching products just encourages overconsumption. Sorry you can't generate revenue without constant clout-chasing, maybe that should be an indicator that your brand just isn't that good.
Agree. Hate it when Fast Fashion seeps into makeup. Just Give me the true tried and tested ones. Maybe add a few more shades here n there for fun sake.
I think benefit definitely appeals to people like my mom and partner that wear their makeup the same way every day and don't like to experiment. They are more successful maintaining the quality of their current products than trying to push new products
they lean more on the tried and tested route, i think. Benefit became my go-to after the pandemic, when I wanted to slowly get back into makeup again 🤔
Eveytime I visit my local Sephora ( in Thailand) I see people doing brows at benefits counter, it looks like they never ran out of customers. And their blushes always sold out in some shades. For Fenty I still see people gathering around its counter and swatching something, I think Fenty has such a wide range of products you'll end up getting something if you playing with their tester too much lol
My mom still loves Benefit brow products because they work and she has a very classic makeup look. Sunblock, red lip, dark brows. It fits her face and is timeless. I always loved their brow products too but got my brows microbladed so I never need to buy any brow products now. But I totally agree with you.
Exactly this. The beauty community is all about what's new and innovative to them, but they don't think about the average consumer that walks into Sephora or Ulta.
I appreciate brands that have their small aray of workhorse products and that don't launch gimmicky, mediocre products every few month. Benefit is such a brand, Dior does that well too.
I do say i love that dior is going out of their way to remove talc from all products and aiming to get that leaping bunny or equivalent certification status as well as the fact they’re were really kind when I emailed them inquiring about gluten and found out though not advertised they are gluten free products just not their selling point for marketing which I was like so grateful to find something luxe also caring about safety aka talc which if a product has talc is guaranteed has asbestos can’t mine it without it getting it in believe hbo was the one that did a documentary series on it and a girl got mesothelioma from her makeup being a dior counter makeup artist and tested her makeup and sure enough half her products had it so I think it was smart for them to reformulate to do any damage control on bad pr and not just ignore it or dismiss it as if it was untrue. Made me happy to see they found out newly discovered information about talc and took action.
Agree, i also think fenty also cuz besides limited editions stuff they focus on like complexion products and same as rare beauty cuz in countries like eg singapore where im from theyre the two main brands that carry their US shade range in sg and thats very rare here so like staple brands for complexion products
It’s not Christmas unless there are mini buxom glosses in our stockings. Every year for probably a decade. I wait for the holiday sets like a kid waiting for the toy catalog. They are perfect for a tiny handbag or a pocket. Love them.
I used to be soooo mesmerized by Pat McGrath Labs. When it launched everything was so innovative and I couldn’t afford to purchase much but I would buy everything I could. But now every launch seems about the same, and there are no new innovative product categories the way they used to. It’s to the point where I wonder if Pat is even involved anymore or if she sold it off.
PMG labs did sell (a share) to investors circa 2021. The reason why people think the brand is going down is because of the frequent sales they’re doing. Heck, at the end of August they did one where you could stack discounts and get mothership palettes for almost 70% off if you were playing the game correctly. At the same time, the brand is decreasing the quality of its products. The last two motherships are not made in Italy and don’t contain any of the “baked” “special formula” they became so famous for. The packaging is also becoming less luxe in very sneaky ways. The more boring colour stories everyone likes to complain about, are obviously done under the influence of their investors. Morthership 7 (?) divine rose I became an instant hit and was constantly sold out for a while and they’re still trying to replicate that with pink leaning palettes. But no, the boring colour stories have little to do with the brand going under, it’s more to do with the fact that you can always get discounts on their products and purchase them for less than products from brands such as ABH and Natasha Denona.
Ngl i do like it tho cuz its not as excited and makeup fan focused but like its still high quality and like bang for buck and now that people like and know of the brand that isnt super into makeup, the brand only has an upward trajectory at least cuz they can just be a staple only brand like some brands. Althought i get ur frustrations cuz i do feel that too sometimes.
I feel like milk hurt their own brand by sizing down the product immensely and also bumping the price up. I think if they didn’t do that people would’ve gone more crazy for their products this year especially in the ongoing cream product craze
I love that Natasha consistently releases unique palettes. Not every palette release is for me, but that's what I appreciate about the brand. Neutral lovers, color lovers, deep skin, light skin, there's something for everyone in her collection, and I prefer that over a brand that releases the same palette over and over with minor tweaks (talking to you PMG). That said, PMG blushes and bronzers break the Internet, so even if the palettes are boring to some of us, she still manages to bring the excitement elsewhere. Also, I'm sad about Lorac. Their fairytale forest palette deserved so much more hype, and all the palettes in that format were solid releases. I really wish they'd release more.
Honestly I don’t think any of these brands are necessarily flopping. I think it’s just shopping mentalities changing. I mean times are tough, people can’t justify spending as much as they used to on makeup. At the same time I think the “buy every release“ hype has ended. More customers are shopping intentionally and project panning/finishing product before they buy a new one.
Agreed, also some of these brands are like brands that are staples for certain categories like skin, and like brows like benefit and fenty so its not like constant constant new thing its just oh new thing once in a while and since makeup SM is like built off of new item hype they understandably dont get a lot of airtime but overall they are very stable brands and have loyal customer bases
i agree with PMG because they’ve been doing the same pink/mauve over & over, even a basic brown/bronze would do well for them. but i don’t agree with natasha denona being in a flop era, their last palettes have all been different from each other & done well, also they had a concealer release this year & that has been a loved product for many.
I agree! Pmg was incredible.. but now seeing this new mothership, it seemed like shades that she just never sold and is trying to get out of inventory. It's the same palette as whats been done several times over. Natasha denona I still look at her launches as being a bit different and I hope she continues with the smaller pan palettes.
I love the pinks but agreed i think since the acquisition of half the company to an outside source of investments its been more money based compared to their past, but it does bring excitement to some parts of the internet and people lol so idt its flopping also sales wise. I agree w ND too the quality is so amazing and the shades are so unique like she has palettes for the makeup fans who want to express themselves and those who want to just "glam up"
I love PMG but at this point a relaunch of those original game changing products is in order because putting out very similar eyeshadow palettes over and over again is boring.
Buxom’s primer-infused blush in Seychelles is the BEST blush I’ve ever used. And I wish they’d promote their mascara now that people are into a more natural, fluttery look because that’s what their mascara does, beautifully.
I too enjoy this blush, but also she's right in that they do get by on their lip products, lol. Because I love their lipgloss so much! I repurchase a few shades at least once a year. 😊
I'd love to see a video on "nostalgic" brands like Coastal Scents, BH cosmetics, etc. and possibly updates on them or what happened. Or a nostalgic products video and go over some old discontinued products (maybelline bouncy blush, dream matte mousse, nyc sunny bronzer, baby lips, mac single shadows, etc.) and maybe some "older" ones that still sell consistently well (bareminerals powder foundation, covergirl lashblast, etc)
I don’t feel sorry for Milk. Their prices (especially compared to the amount of product you get) are ridiculous and they don’t match up to the quality. In the UK their new setting spray is £10 more expensive than Charlotte Tilbury for only 85 ml of product. That’s just embarrassing
I think their biggest crime is binning their unique brand identity and creative direction in favor of the most boring, mainstream products I've ever seen. They're just tarte but greenwashed and a little edgy.
Ooh! Benefit definitely stays where they are comfortable, but sales-wise, they are doing just fine. They have launched quite a bit of newness in the last year, the most innovative to me was the foaming toner that launched with their new skincare line. It’s actually a cool product!
Benefit discontinuing erase paste made me cry , I know it wasn’t for everyone but now as someone who used it for modeling shoots and would bring it to help cover some scars I was heartbroken
@@asli9812yeahhhh Lorac has been dead in the water for years. They were sold at Marshall’s for years but even the discount stores don’t carry their products anymore.
I agree with you about Fenty! What other high profile brands are doing that level of shade diversity across different product categories? Aside from mayybbee tarte, but not to the same extent. I think a lot of the hype has died off simply because it is no longer a new brand
Hey congrats on hitting pan on the bronzer. I'm almost about to hit pan on my elf poreless putty primer. Im also close to finshing my NYX butter gloss in sugar high and finishing my elf clear mascara. So youre not alone. Although I actually used up three-four fragerences this year.
I LOVE Buxom lip liners. They of course can be used to line, but they can be worn as lip sticks, or a lite stain. I especially appreciate them when the are half off on Ulta's 21 days of beauty. 👍
I was hardcore into Bare Escentuals/Bare Minerals when Buxom was created. It was HUGE back then. Leslie was so proud of it, and the BE communities really made it sell well. There was so much excitement every time a new color was announced because many of them were named for US. Back then it was almost unheard of for the consumers to help drive the products, but it was a great collaboration. Until the brand was sold, and it all stopped.
I do think ND and PM are flopping, maybe not in terms of hype, but definitely in terms of sales. Constant sales for PM, and the new influencer discount codes from ND suggest that to me. Benefit is like Mac. Workhorse products people actually can use up and repurchase regularly. Maybe nobody is talking them up, but the average consumer tends to stick with what they know and love and both those brands have kept the same products around for years. PM & ND focus on one and done purchases and most people don’t buy every launch. ND might be on the upswing with their concealer and the popularity of the Nude Palette but I think successful brands really need brow products, mascaras and foundations to keep consistent sales. In the real world, I think PM is too flashy for a lot of people and basic wins out.
I'm not sure I agree with ND. The affiliate codes though- ugh a couple of my favs are really trying to sell the brand to us. I feel like that's smart if ND, but not so smart for the influencers pushing the brand. PMG though, that pink gold color story needs to go to the vault already or its going to be the death of PML
@@gigi2k326 Yeah, the affiliate code in Canada is a scam. Sephora here doesn’t carry ND anymore (which also makes me think the brand is struggling) and she raised the prices of her products on her website by 15%…. Same amount as the “discount.” I’m just saying as someone who buys Benefit Gimme Brow over and over, I spend around $90 YEARLY on that product alone. (It’s like $30/each.) meanwhile, I bought the Nude palette from ND as my first purchase since the midi Glam came out. I’m sure this is common of a lot of people. Benefit gets $90 from me yearly and ND gets $90 from me maybe once every 2-3 years. Benefit gets a steady stream of income from people who don’t look elsewhere. How many people are dying to try brow products, you know, if you have on that works fine? And they’re products most women use regardless of makeup style. Meanwhile ND has to entice you all over again with each new launch and a has a smaller market with her colour stories because that’s all based on personal preference.
I completely agree. Although ND is very hyped, the items are still pretty expensive for the average person. Plus, many of her newer palette have been going on sale on her site which wouldn’t have been the case several years ago
I think some brands calculate sales into their pricing model. Take ND, they have been increasing their prices in a sneaky way over the last months. Each new midi palette is a bit more expensive than the last. And they know that probably 80% of the clientele is going to purchase their products either with a discount code or in a sale. I’m sure that they have foreseen a 20% discount in their pricing and negotiations with retailers and still make nice profits.
Yes! Buxom lip polishes and lip creams are my favorite lip glosses of all time. The lip polishes have micro shimmer, while the lip creams have no shimmer. I love the cooling/tingling plumping sensation. It’s not overboard. For it being a lip gloss, it actually clings to the lips for quite a long time, without the formula being sticky. I’m a super fan of their lipglosses and always will be. I am a sucker for their seasonal lipgloss shades/yummy scents they come out with. I just want them all. The originally scent of the glosses is still nice as well. It just smells like a sweet mint to me. Another product I absolutely love is their wanderlust primer infused blushes. I have the shade, Seychelles, and I think it is my favorite blush I’ve ever used. It just goes with everything, and every season. Those types of blushes that look underwhelming in the pan, I usually find to be the most beautiful looking on the skin. It pretty much has built-in highlighter. The glow/radiance that the blush gives is not too much though. I really want to try the pink shade called Havana. I’ve hit major pan on Seychelles, I just love it that much. I’m determined to finish it entirely. I also loved their plump-line lip liners, before they turned them into a plastic roll up style pencil. I have several of the wooden sharpen able pencils. They are a thick pencil where you can line, or fill in the whole lip with it. I have always found that using a jumbo/thick lip pencil allows me to overline my lips way easier. I am not sure about the new version of them, but I’m open to trying them. They still have a few of the original lip liner shades.
So interesting regarding buxom. Because Emily Noel talks about them. Especially their lip liner with the brush and how hard candy created something super similar
Milk Makeup is so hit or miss for me. Their Kush lip balm (RIP) was the best lip balm I've ever tried, and their cheek sticks are great; but I hate the grip primer. Also, I was in Ulta last week and picked up one of the Buxom lip glosses and was reminded of how much I used to love them.
I personally don’t agree with ND flopping but I do see PM getting a ton of criticism on their palettes being the same and there were others who said the brand was deleting comments and blocking people who had valid critiques. I don’t know much about that though, they test on animals so I don’t support them or follow their socials
It’s not about their palettes being the same, but rather that they are constantly running sales on their website. If you are even somewhat interested in makeup and the brand, then at this point you know that unless you’re an influencer chasing clout with being the first to talk about a product, you better wait for a sale to come up so you can get the product for much cheaper. Their products even turn up at TJ Max frequently at great discounts. Mostly their limited edition products, if I’m not mistaken. But still, they used to sell out and now they end up at TJ Maxx.
Some of these brand sold globally, I can tell benefits's fine, Fenty's fine but yes Natasha and Pat Mcgrath seem a little bit meh, Pat Mcgrath x Bridgerton collection is suppose to be a hit but they're still on a shelves after a year. For Natasha Danona I don't see people buy it much but more like swatching them in the Sephora just to see why it expensive.
That fenty solid lip gloss might have done well if they had released it pre-pandemic and not in the height of COVID. But only pre-pandemic or maybe waaaayyyyy after as we’re all still constantly washing out hands.
the problem with the fenty stick foundation is the amount of product for the price it's weird they wouldn't fill the tube if they were releasing that type of makeup product as other's have wouldn't but for that reason xx
I am one of the loyal shoppers of benefit and I repurchase their brow products and will do this for the end of days. So not innovative but damn are their brow products great and the packaging helps and makes it easier to use. I have chronic hand pain and I like the packaging shape allows me to open the cap without a struggle.
The Balm Matt eyeshadow pallets, I Love and still use, I went through one and repurchased. Buxom had a mascara I loved black tube silver writing and their lip pencils, lippie in Boston and gloss on white Russian.
Buxom lip polish is my favorite gloss of all time. I’ve gone through like… 7 or 8 of them? Every time I wear another one, I wish it was my Buxom. Will never not repurchase.
For Benefit, at least in my country, the beauty advisor told me that the revenue from waxing is really significant. So I think Benefit is still doing just fine because of the waxing services
Lorac seems to do well in sales despite not releasing new products. I had a Lorac palette in my cart that became out of stock the next day. So they must be doing something right 🤷🏻♀️
I have the mini matte palette I finally caved and bought it and am loving it.. so... I just recently bought the winter rose mini should receive it any day now. I am way late for the lorac train. I am impressed with the quality and longevity. ❤
@@abeautyproject Yes! And it was the first really bright hot pink blush I remember seeing. And it was matte, everything in the 80’s was so shimmery so no shimmer stood out to me.
Benefit is still big in the UK, they have a counter in every department store and they do brows on the counter. They actually release new stuff, recently some lip balms and skincare which is actually nice! They will be totally fine 😌
I never hear much about lines that have been well established such as Clinique, Estee Lauder, Lancome and YSL. I never hear about new launches or anything
Cargo used to be in Sephora. I was obsessed with their lip gloss/creme that came in a metal pot. It was so pigmented and moisturizing. The color Waikiki was amazing on light olive skin.
Lol Lorac I feel like is so unrated for eyeshadow but I feel like they have been flippity flopping forever. Haven’t seen someone rave about them in like… 5 years.
I just can’t help it, but every time I hear the name “Lorac” I simultaneously hear Sam Rahvndahl say in a sarcastic tone “yeah that’s just CAROL spelled backwards”. 😂😂😂
Buxom makes my favorite lipsticks, supermodel is my favorite shade. I also love their lip liners. I also LOVE their lip polish, they last the longest for me.
With PML it feels like many other cosmetics companies, their prices keep going up and the quantity and quality keep going down. I am sure PML is going strong and will stay strong, but an eagle eyed redditor made a post (I think it was on r/beautyguruchatter a few weeks ago) saw the amount of product went down compared to years previously. I compared my older Midnight Sun (13.2 grams total) to my newer Huetopian Dream (12.9 grams total) and it's like, Heyyy. Why you skimping on us, McGrath? Plus the hardcore PML fans have noticed that newer palettes no longer so the special astral shades (undupeable by the way) and it's the regular mattes, shimmers, and toppers which has them frustrated.
For me, the new Natasha Denona palette is exciting because it’s exactly the right neutral tones for my complexion. However, I think of brands come under solid performers, but just not exciting Beauty followers on social media, unless someone happens to do a TikTok video and suddenly an old brand will have a moment in the spotlight again like the clinique black honey almost lipstick did.
Benefit used to have some products in the 2000s that I loved a lot, especially the Creaseless Cream eyeshadow pots. I went through several in the cool brown shade Traffic School. I miss those a lot.
I’d love for you to cover department store brands, they must be doing something right to charge those prices and have such a loyal customer base. They are certainly not often cruelty free bc of having a world wide market.!But trendy they are not, except for the freak Black Honey viralness. They rely on good old fashioned marketing and customer service. Alt ought I’ve seen some ads do Estée Lauder foundation lately.
I love buxom lip polishes and creams! I always hope for them in the 21 days of beauty. Im not someone who has tried a TON of other gloss formulas but of the ones i have tried i think theyre the best. Love the tingle, they wear a pretty long time, dont make my lips get weird and gross on the inside. Other than that though, havent tried anything else from buxom
Fenty Beauty Will always be my go to makeup brand in Sephora, the only one I'm interested in, and I know the products are good quality and looks really good on my skin
100% agree with you about fenty. This was actually the brand that got me into higher end makeup (I didn’t understand how to do makeup until I was 21) and their collections were so much fun in 2018. I kept my Moroccan spice pallet and the 2018 holiday collection. I was so confused when they stopped doing collections and tried smaller eyeshadow pallets which (in my opinion) weren’t exciting and from what I saw from reviewers, didn’t perform well I also LOVED the mattemoiselle lipsticks and was so sad they discontinued them. (I STILL can’t find an exact dupe for the Griselda shade) And the very first highlighter I ever bought was the summer collection. (The shade sandcastle is still my PERFECT shade, and that’s sadly discontinued as well) It seems the fun was lost (maybe the 2020 lockdown has something to do with it since people weren’t buying makeup as much) Also we still don’t have lip liners from the brand, but at least they made a better mascara. I would love to see the passion come back. I miss the hype of this brand. 2018 was Fenty’s year
I would agree about Buxom, Cargo, and Lorac. I don't have any products from them and am not interested in them. I disagree with the ND and PM comments, I think the ND mini palettes and her midi palettes are great, good formula and color stories. Plus ND just released what I think is the best concealer ever. PM has a good following with people who want luxury products. Their palettes have a solid following along with their blushes and lip sticks. Benefit just released what is touted as one of the best mascaras by many influencers. I have not purchased it yet but plan to do so. They are a brand known for their brow products but this mascara release is exciting. Good video, Kelly!
I go through contour quicker than any cheek products, cream contour. I don't really use powder contour often. I've gone through a couple of the fenty amber cream contours. I don't have nearly as many as other cheek products though either.
I have 2 Buxom lipsticks and several lip creams, polishes and glosses in my everyday makeup drawer. I also like the newest Benefit mascara. I have a few Milk Makeup products in my everyday makeup drawer too. Even though I am a makeup enthusiast with more makeup than I could ever possibly use up 😆 I still have many staple products that I continue to buy despite its popularity on social media. The people in my life that aren’t makeup lovers continue to repurchase the same products over and over. I’m guessing there are a lot of people that do this which gives these brands sustainability.
Milk is getting a lot of hate right now, but I went ahead and did a check and their sticks (bronzer, blush, contour) are actually less per ounce than Fenty's Matchstix line. The packaging for the Fenty is definitely bigger, but I was shocked to see that the milk makeup price per ounce is $126, whereas the Fenty is $128. Packaging makes a huge difference in how we perceive value. I didn't buy any of the Milk makeup sticks from their former size, but currently they are definitely comparable in price to competitor brands like Fenty. Just something to think about.
my milk contour stick is really nice. i like how small it is, and i really don’t need a ton of contour (and have a few others). it’s great for travel. it just looks tiny, but good analysis!
Everything i have tried from Benefit was very good. Hoola is my HG bronzer, gimme brow pencil is my staple for my thin brows, their face palettes i like, setting spray is very good. Mascaras are so so for me.
Sometimes I feel like I imagined the brand Cargo lol. It's been so long but i swear they were at Sephora ages ago and I had their foundation that was packaged in a capri-sun like pouch with squares on it. Then when I went to repurchase, it wasn't sold there anymore and I never saw them again🤔. I didn't think other people remembered that brand!
Do you remember those giant Cargo dual lipglosses in the big round silver tins? I miss those. Some company needs to get on the stick and make cosmetics in some retro silver metal packaging like the Cargo tins, the UD face palettes, etc. They’d make bank on us GenX ladies.
Strange that anyone would think Benefit being in their flop era. They just released a ton of bew box blushes that have people raving. Plus theyre releasing new brow products every now and then. I just purchased their new brow wax. And their tints will NEVER go out of style. I just stocked up on new bottles of those too. 😅
The hydro grip primer is always out of stock in Sephora Australia. So either lots of people are buying it out or they aren't restocking quickly enough. Also the ELF version is pretty expensive for how little you get in a tube too in Australia 😞
I feel like most drug store products are smaller (but come in much bulkier packaging) than their higher end counterparts - making the price difference less than it would seem. Here in Canada (as I have just looked up) the price per mL for the value size Hydro Grip and the E.L.F. are nearly the same.
@@kathrynstemler6331 oh wow. I find the milk one is better quality but have also found lys have a gripping primer that is fairly good and is usually in stock as an alternative.
A couple years ago right when Walmart started using 3rd party sellers but definitely before it was known I bought a fake grande lash serum. Thank GOD I was still finishing up the one I had of the same size. I compared the tubes & there was THE TINIEST difference, sent it back immediately which thank god I could do. Lord only knows what was in that tube that I could’ve or people have put on their eyes nightly. 🤢🥴
Yes, melt cosmetics. I feel like their in their flop era too… Their blushlights are one of my favorite cream blushes but I don’t hear anyone talk about them.
It's very interesting that a lot of these brands are higher end ones that recently got stocked at Ulta. For me it's exciting b/c I can buy from those brands now, but I wonder if other people see it as a step down.
Stick foundation you MUST try BASMA stick foundation it is amazing the color match is so true skintone it’s amazing i have always struggled and it matches so much I can’t see where my skin ends and where i applied to buff it out 😅 it’s only product they make. Women owned and founded. Backstory is incredible and great for anyone with damaged scars imperfect skin. Check them out ! Probably why I think fenty did a stick but also remember fenty has had stick highlighter contour sticks that were really big a long time ago so about time they did the stick I think they had one already so may be a reformulation lol
Of the big the face products, I go through bronzer the fastest (though my current blush is baked, so there's more than the typical amount of product). I don't think I will ever finish a highlighter, they're all so pretty, but you need the least amount of it of any of the face products
It's almost a little funny what you were saying about Buxom, because I'm currently panning my Buxom customisable palette with six of their singles as a pan that palette. Literally seeing that brand before my eyes every single day 😂
Lorac’s quality in eyeshadows changed. I had the original and I used that palette to death. I hit pan on pretty much every shade and then they discontinued it. bought their newer pro palette and I have some drugstore palettes that are far better. Was disappointing for sure.
Lorac does not ship internationally and is hard to find in stores so I don't wonder why theres is not more hype. I would have loved to try their products.
I can't find much info from a quick Google search, but I was under the impression that Buxom was a spin off brand from Bare Minerals. Like Bare Minerals is known for their face products, and Buxom did lip and cheek, etc. Does anyone else remember this?
I agree with you milk and Fenty are not in their flop era but they’re not at the top anymore. I’m a saie/kosas/tower28/ilia girlie but I’m going to be honest when it comes to fashion shoots or big events like graduation, etc I’m going to rely on more professional and color saturated brands that offer longevity throughout the day.
I think another reason for Milk's flopping is how much they've increased their prices while they've simultaneously reduced the amount of product they actually give you.
definitely. i lost all my respect for the brand when they downsized so much and yet inflated their prices disproportionately
agreed -- how they converted their "minis" as their new "full size" products but giving the minis the full size PRICE is WILD.
And their packaging breaks all the time..
100% agree with this
Couldn’t agree more!!!
I work at Ulta and we sell SOOOOO much Benefit. Their brow products, mascaras, and the Hula Bronzer are very popular with costumers and they always come to repurchase. Yes!! I'm a die hard Hula bronzer girl and Gimme Brow pencil in shade 4.5! 💕😍
Also, buxom lip glosses and my absolute holy grail lip glosses
Yeah I always go back to Benefit products especially blush and mascara.
Yesss I am such a benefit girly when it comes to mascara. I always try other options when I run out but I always come back to roller lash because nothing compares for me 😅

Agree. Hate it when Fast Fashion seeps into makeup. Just Give me the true tried and tested ones. Maybe add a few more shades here n there for fun sake.
Yep, there is only so much "innovation" you can have with a mascara or blush. When you get the formulation and colour right, keep making it.
Benefit is perpetually sold out in sephoras. And I'm always wanting to look at their releases. Old or new.
Yes! I've seen people who use makeup but are not into makeup too much, use Benefit all the time.
My mom still loves Benefit brow products because they work and she has a very classic makeup look. Sunblock, red lip, dark brows. It fits her face and is timeless. I always loved their brow products too but got my brows microbladed so I never need to buy any brow products now. But I totally agree with you.
I don’t think these brands are flopping I would say that they are not trending or maybe not paying influencers to use the brand
Exactly this. The beauty community is all about what's new and innovative to them, but they don't think about the average consumer that walks into Sephora or Ulta.
THIS
👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
I think she sold a percentage of the company and that seemed to coincided with the change in innovation and colourful palettes
I know! Even the artwork is boring and it used to be awesome.
Ngl i do like it tho cuz its not as excited and makeup fan focused but like its still high quality and like bang for buck and now that people like and know of the brand that isnt super into makeup, the brand only has an upward trajectory at least cuz they can just be a staple only brand like some brands. Althought i get ur frustrations cuz i do feel that too sometimes.
i used to covet the brand sooooo much but now i’m hella bored. so many other brands interest me instead.
Agreed fully!!
"flop era" Vs "not going viral on SM"....The Beauty Community Vs people that actually buy makeup are two wildly different things!
This
Agreed, also some of these brands are like brands that are staples for certain categories like skin, and like brows like benefit and fenty so its not like constant constant new thing its just oh new thing once in a while and since makeup SM is like built off of new item hype they understandably dont get a lot of airtime but overall they are very stable brands and have loyal customer bases
i agree with PMG because they’ve been doing the same pink/mauve over & over, even a basic brown/bronze would do well for them. but i don’t agree with natasha denona being in a flop era, their last palettes have all been different from each other & done well, also they had a concealer release this year & that has been a loved product for many.
Ikr I’m kinda getting sick of the same colour stories
I agree! Pmg was incredible.. but now seeing this new mothership, it seemed like shades that she just never sold and is trying to get out of inventory. It's the same palette as whats been done several times over. Natasha denona I still look at her launches as being a bit different and I hope she continues with the smaller pan palettes.
Yeah - pretty darned boring!
Yes!! Totally agree. Seychelles is such a beautiful, neutral color that goes with everything and lasts so long!
I too enjoy this blush, but also she's right in that they do get by on their lip products, lol. Because I love their lipgloss so much! I repurchase a few shades at least once a year. 😊
Is the blush powder or cream?
Yes!!! That’s my favorite blush too!!
Buxom mascara is so good
I'd love to see a video on "nostalgic" brands like Coastal Scents, BH cosmetics, etc. and possibly updates on them or what happened.
I think my mom single-handedly keeps Buxom in business 😂
You guys!!! Benefit blush in Pom Pom....it's stunning! It's my holy Grail fa sho!
Fenty is doing just fine. So is benefit. Love Lorac and ND eyeshadows, too. These brands aren't flopping.
Lorac is definitely flopping 😂
@@asli9812yeahhhh Lorac has been dead in the water for years. They were sold at Marshall’s for years but even the discount stores don’t carry their products anymore.
I agree with you about Fenty! What other high profile brands are doing that level of shade diversity across different product categories? Aside from mayybbee tarte, but not to the same extent. I think a lot of the hype has died off simply because it is no longer a new brand
Mac😊
true@@LaBellaVisage
Hey congrats on hitting pan on the bronzer. I'm almost about to hit pan on my elf poreless putty primer. Im also close to finshing my NYX butter gloss in sugar high and finishing my elf clear mascara. So youre not alone. Although I actually used up three-four fragerences this year.
I agree with you Kelly. I think most of those brands are not flopping- they're cruising after a successful launch. 🤷♀️
For some reason Benefit products really sparks joy for me 🙂. I love their classic products.
I love the sunflowers 🌻 is the background. 💛🌻
Meanwhile ND has to entice you all over again with each new launch and a has a smaller market with her colour stories because that’s all based on personal preference.
absolutely agree with you
I completely agree.
Thanks. This is useful info for me. Now i want to try the glosses and blushes
Same re: Seychelles. My favorite blush ever
Just bought their lip liners at the Ulta sale. So far so good but would never pay full price!
@@karencorrado8365 nice! I wouldn’t pay full price for a lot of things these days lol
@@kittykatkountry1317 glad you found it helpful. I think you’d enjoy their products.
Kelly your hair looks AMAZING you always look so pretty and put together ❤
Kelly! You look so beautiful and your background with the flowers and candles is simply gorgeous 💕
I had a Cargo blush from Birchbox that I LOVED. It was the only blush I wore for about two years. I went through three or four. 😹
Their blush in the shade Bali was soooo good! Illuminating without being sparkly.
@@laurenk5379 that was the one!
I really love the buxom rose julep cream gloss. It's just the perfect color and I love the mintiness for summer!
Buxom does have a wonderful line of primer infused blushes. They do have a strong scent, but their performance is excellent.
I am one of the loyal shoppers of benefit and I repurchase their brow products and will do this for the end of days. So not innovative but damn are their brow products great and the packaging helps and makes it easier to use. I have chronic hand pain and I like the packaging shape allows me to open the cap without a struggle.
One of my favorite all time powder blushes is Buxom Seychelles
The Balm Matt eyeshadow pallets, I Love and still use, I went through one and repurchased. Buxom had a mascara I loved black tube silver writing and their lip pencils, lippie in Boston and gloss on white Russian.
Buxom's mascara is amazing, I cannot find a brush as good as that one is in other mascaras.
The buxom blushes are my favorite powder blush formulas! I love it and I have all the colors. 😍 I think you should definitely try them! 💯
I really like my Buxom blush! It's so pretty. And I think it's relatively reasonably priced.
I've heard great things about their blushes!
I was excited about the new benefit blushes last year, I still have a few shades on my list.
buxom blushes are amazing! i have mykonos and it’s my faaaaveee i will cry if they discontinue it
Buxom lip polish is my favorite gloss of all time. I’ve gone through like… 7 or 8 of them? Every time I wear another one, I wish it was my Buxom. Will never not repurchase.
For Benefit, at least in my country, the beauty advisor told me that the revenue from waxing is really significant. So I think Benefit is still doing just fine because of the waxing services
the brand is totally doing fine, they’re just not exciting customers that much lately, is all. except with their new mascara
I love Buxom. They're create your own pallette eyeshadows are fabulous.
I love the buxom plumping lip serum so much 😍 I've gone through a few of the clear ones. I don't like the gloss or anything else I've tried lol.
I remember I bought a hot pink blush from Cargo in Macy's about 20 years ago. It came in a silver tin and I wish I still had it.
Cargo blushes were BANGING! The tins were clunky but oh my god I still remember them so fondly, the silkiest longest lasting formula
Good point!
I love your hair in this video! It looks so pretty!
OH also the ulta bronzer is my favorite (ulta brand) I'm on my 3rd one and trust me I have a lot of bronzers.
My favorite is buxom blushes ! Love it ! Seychelles and Mykonos is my favorite ❤️
I would die for them to bring back their cream shadows 😩
I’d love for you to cover department store brands, they must be doing something right to charge those prices and have such a loyal customer base.
They are certainly not often cruelty free bc of having a world wide market.!But trendy they are not, except for the freak Black Honey viralness. They rely on good old fashioned marketing and customer service. Alt ought I’ve seen some ads do Estée Lauder foundation lately.
Girl is having a very good hair day today!! 😍 Although I am always curious to see you with dark hair 🦄
What about Stilla? Are they still around?
I love buxom lip polishes and creams! I always hope for them in the 21 days of beauty. Im not someone who has tried a TON of other gloss formulas but of the ones i have tried i think theyre the best. Love the tingle, they wear a pretty long time, dont make my lips get weird and gross on the inside. Other than that though, havent tried anything else from buxom
Fenty Beauty Will always be my go to makeup brand in Sephora, the only one I'm interested in, and I know the products are good quality and looks really good on my skin
100% agree with you about fenty. This was actually the brand that got me into higher end makeup (I didn’t understand how to do makeup until I was 21)
and their collections were so much fun in 2018.
I kept my Moroccan spice pallet and the 2018 holiday collection.
I was so confused when they stopped doing collections and tried smaller eyeshadow pallets which (in my opinion) weren’t exciting and from what I saw from reviewers, didn’t perform well
I also LOVED the mattemoiselle lipsticks and was so sad they discontinued them. (I STILL can’t find an exact dupe for the Griselda shade)
And the very first highlighter I ever bought was the summer collection. (The shade sandcastle is still my PERFECT shade, and that’s sadly discontinued as well)
It seems the fun was lost (maybe the 2020 lockdown has something to do with it since people weren’t buying makeup as much)
Also we still don’t have lip liners from the brand, but at least they made a better mascara.
Benefit just released their fan fest mascara and it's amazing! So I don't feel like they are flopping at all.
IT’S SOOOO GOOD!!!! yes!
Benefit is launched more lip tints in asia and honestly I’m intrigued depending on the pricing
try the buxom wanderlust primer infused blushes! i love them
Milk is getting a lot of hate right now, but I went ahead and did a check and their sticks (bronzer, blush, contour) are actually less per ounce than Fenty's Matchstix line.
Buxom?!?! I had totally forgotten about that brand! I was inspired by your video to pull out my Buxom lip glosses and show them some love!
I was surprised to see Pat McGrath in this line up but then today I picked up her Celestial Nirvana palette at Marshalls for $30 today...
Yes, I agree about the blushes! I was excited about them and think they’re darling
I agree! I love Benefit blushes and the Hoola bronzer too. Didn’t they just come out with a new mascara too?
What about Melt?
Now that I've said it, is that even the name? Lmao
I also think Rare is the new Fenty.
Of the big the face products, I go through bronzer the fastest (though my current blush is baked, so there's more than the typical amount of product). I don't think I will ever finish a highlighter, they're all so pretty, but you need the least amount of it of any of the face products
Buxoms mascara is my HG. It looks so natural I love it.
Buxom has blushes that are amazing! I forgot the product title but they’re bouncy and somehow between a cream and powder blush
I love these kind of videos
Agreed, I hit pan on bronzers first
Lorac does not ship internationally and is hard to find in stores so I don't wonder why theres is not more hype. I would have loved to try their products.
I can't find much info from a quick Google search, but I was under the impression that Buxom was a spin off brand from Bare Minerals. Like Bare Minerals is known for their face products, and Buxom did lip and cheek, etc. Does anyone else remember this?
As far as I can remember, they were part of Bareminerals way back when.
I work at Ulta and a lot of people come in for buxom mascara surprisingly? And of course their lipgloss.
I love the buxom lip products!
