  • Sailing the world has always been a dream, but can dreams come true? In this episode, I start documenting my journey to buy a sailboat and eventually sail the world. I first needed to purchase a sailboat and sail it up the inside passage from Seattle Washington to Sitka Alaska.
In this episode, I leave out of Foggy Bay, Alaska, and sail up to Exchange Bay, Alaska. Along the way I see dolphins and a whale breach! After Leaving Exchange Bay, I discover I have low to no oil pressure, I loose my auto-pilot, and almost roll my boat in heavy seas. After 15 grueling hours, I finally make it to Ship Cove, Alaska.

Thanks! Yes, it was an amazingly beautiful trip. My hope is, I'll be able to take it again, but with much more time to enjoy it!

Liked this one with more sailing. Never understood how folks could stand the constant drone of the engine. Granted, someone's you don't have a choice if you want to make headway. Progress being a good thing and all that. Probably stems from me being a bit cheap and not wanting to have to keep buying fuel lol.
Great vid though. Liked seeing the Dalls porpoises playing off your bow. Hope the oil pressure issue just turned out to be a faulty gauge.

Thanks for watching! I completely agree with dealing with the constant drone of the engine, but given my time constraints, wind conditions, and total lack of experience (beyond watching a few videos and reading a book on sailing) I had little choice. Thankfully, I continue to learn and spend more time sailing and less time motoring every trip (as long as there is wind). Thanks again for watching, glad you enjoyed.
