I just had this happen to me with Pokemon Go!
Something like this happened to me but legit from a big box retailer. Picked up a couple of those champion path 4 pack boxes and opened them at home…when I opened them something felt odd and they were all opened and resealed. I’m guessing someone took out all the good stuff, resealed, glued the box back up and then returned it to the store for money back. SMH
That's weird, don't most big box retailers have a no return policy for trading cards?
I just got a box and got so scared watching this but I checked and mine has the small holes and the plastic the kind the real boxes have. I’m so glad I found this video to ease my mind!!

I used to work at a warehouse repackaging packs of ice cream when the master cases would break. The fake one looks and sounds like the same heat shrink wrap plastic we would use. It’s very brittle but you can see how smooth that kinda plastic looks compared to the stretchy plastic that TPC uses when they package it.

Also look for the "ruler" lines in the plastic on the top of the ETB box that are caused by the plastic being tightened.

Sad thing is, it shouldn't be that much more difficult to replicate the same plastic wrap that legit ETB's use. At least the Pokemon company could use the same wrap they put on booster boxes with the Pokemon stamps on them.
That would make sealed etb collectors so mad lol
I agree the plastic should be stamped on ETB’s. Production cost would be a what an extra couple cents.

Ive bought an etb which has a small transparant sticker underneath the seal, anyone has that seen before?

Thanks for this video, I just bought a Evolving Skies box at walmart, feel a bit sketchy since these thing sell really fast, I was afraid that it was probably a resealed that got returned to walmart, turn out I didn't got dupe, it's a relieve thanks to this.

When you turned the boxes upside down I died a little 😂
Some early prints of SM Base had mapped pulls so you could just remove the good packs without opening like 3 or 4 packs tops. That's what might have happened here.

Packaging a bit more glossy and the way the plastic looks. It looks like a tight fit
I initially said the LEFT one because of the loose wrapping, but the holes on the right one at the seams looked sketchy: almost as if there wasn't enough material to reseal the box.

Also, the fake one does not have the bar code sticker on the back of the ETB like the real one does. @1:13 you can see at the very bottom right corner. The real one have a sticker barcode on top of the wrapping. The fake one does not.

I immidieatly go it! I know because the real thing has no rigids in the outside plastic on the edges. When a machine from the pokemon factory seals the etb the puling of the packaging creates "hills and valleys" or rigids on the top edges of the etb.

Opened up a box I got for Christmas and first thing I noticed was there was no promo card in like huh that's interesting then I noticed how weird the pack felt and was like hmm that's also interesting then I held the cards and looked At them from the side and noticed some were bent without looking I pulled from the booster pile and long behold they were holos then mmm hmm then I saw your video and was like oohhhhhhh but thank you so much very informative video

Been checking out more of your videos since I saw your Crown Zenith videos and your Hidden Fates giveaway announcement. I finally pulled the trigger on one of these myself as an early birthday gift, and then this video comes up. Really hoping it's not an ill omen. EBay has been good to me for the most part and I at least found a seller with a lot of sold items and a fair price ($161 after taxes), so fingers crossed.

I wanted to collect the 151 scarlet and violet cards, so I bought a bunch of booster boxes. The first box I got the booklet was paper based. I didn’t think anything of it as a lot of companies are trying to be environmentally friendly. Now I am questioning everything 😳 I think I will need to go look through all the cards and make sure they are real 🤦♀️

Then you won’t be buying much lol. Sealed product is one of the safer bets. Just buy from big box stores and trustworthy game stores and you’ll be fine.

One on the right is fake. It doesn't have the hole patterns on the wrap. I just came from my local lgs and they didn't know about the hole pattern, had to show them that their Mewtwo Tin was resealed. They popped it open and it all had steam siege packs in them. And they bought it for $120 from a local.

This kind of scam should warrent some form of legal action. It's absolutely disgusting people do this to rip others off. Imagine being a parent and you buy an ETB for your child and you get a fake like the one you showed me.
From the first shot before watching the video I would say the right one is fake. The plastic wrap around the box is too tight for what pokemon boxes normally have.
And oh man you are so right about the sleeves. The ones from the shining fates etb make the cards look so bad. Can’t see the holo and it all looks cloudy

@Dr. Applesauce Two Thank you for the informational content! Would this apply to older ETBs such as Evolutions? I'm planning to meet someone on Offerup on some Evolutions ETBs and want to make sure I'm not getting scammed. Planning to take a modern day sealed ETB I have for reference when I take a closer look myself. Gonna watch some evolutions openings to get a better idea on the type of seal I need to look for.
I think so yes, the only thing that might be differnt is the older boxes don’t have the little holes in the seal, but it’s the same type of plastic seal
By now everything that sells for 100 euro be it bb or etbs from sets like sum are resealed.

1:55 etbs atleast all of my sealed etbs have that crinkle in the plastic wrap like its a little loose and if you look closely they should have little holes in the plastic wrap. The etb on the left was as smooth as a baby

I noticed that the real one had a big hole on the side to assist you while opening the box while the fake one did not. Im wondering if that is also a big giveaway on whether the box is fake or not.
If you look at the top and bottom of a real etb you can see little wrinkles on the edges (same with booster boxes) and i was going to say the little wholes on the wrap too but im so tired of these scammers, i feel bad for the people who can’t even tell they got scammed they probably just think they got unlucky pulls.

You're right, the new ETB sleeves with the frosting are terrible. Make no sense whatsoever. Seals had me fooled until you took them off, obvious difference is wrapping material. Great info.

They are frosted to make the cards easier to handle while playing the actual card game because the non frosted sleeves stick together.

People have to be careful been seeing fake cards with the black ink inside the middle but they were very well made fakes don't see them often but they are out there keep up the great content this should educate many people 👊💥

I noticed a caution triangle symbol on the left box when it came to the front cover, so that was my only indication that it might be more official. Devil is in the details.

From what I remember, Sun&Moon base was like butter when it opens up. Not hard at all. I don’t think those packs were resealed. Just sun&moon base was made with weird material 🤷🏽♂️

I could see people doing this But weighing all the heavy packs and making the etbs look perfect 10 hidden fates packs but they are all guaranteed nothing
