I tried to pick up wrestling in middle school after being a football player and immediately knew I didn't want to work that hard lol
I thought an iminari roll was sushi.
I wrestled in high school and we basically ran just as much as the cross country team during season 😂
What a beautiful point by Brian: it teaches you to focus while you're suffering
Wrestling is the hardest thing you'll ever do as far as sports goes. Highschool rough college is crazy
I believe jiu-jitsu is more glorified then wrestling (sadly). After HS you can only really wrestle in college. There's very few if any adult wrestling gyms or clubs (outside of MMA gyms).
Muay Thai + jiu jitsu + lifting + 2 mile Sunday + push ups and pull ups every morning = complete warrior. That’s the way I train.
Not doing wrestling in Highschool os a big regret of mine. Every sport makes you feel like a hard worker but wrestling is a different level
I train jiu jitsu and boxing and I feel so much more comfortable and relaxed while rolling, even with crazy sparring partners that go 110%. I just focus on technique and the pain of the grind doesn’t bother me at all. I don’t mind getting choked or put in submissions either. I absolutely hate getting punched in the face in boxing though, and the faster pace puts so much more strain and discomfort on my cardiovascular system.
I wish I did wrestling in high school. All the wrestling I do is what I learned through jiu-jitsu from other wrestlers. I am more exhausted doing wrestling over jiu-jitsu
Idk I wrestled just high school. And there are three keys to wrestling strength speed and technique. If you have the strength and speed edge over an opponent and can run one good move perfectly at each position you will win. Technique becomes the deciding factor when you are even with strength and speed. But most my matches I could tell if I was going to lose or win on whether I had a harder handshake.
4 Stripe White Belt here, I get it, sometimes Grappling sucks, but the journey is so worth it!
I started BJJ only 3 months ago; I'm nearly 51 years old, but it is intimidating. That's why I do it.
I wrestled at two schools in HS, Jiu Jitsu, catch wrestling submission grappling at four or five different gyms competed in Southern California tournaments it’s a great sport
Leave it to Rogan to turn any topic into discussion about jiu-jitsu.
This is so true to me as a white belt and being 114 pounds I spar with 200 pound guys the feeling when they sit on you and put you on a choke hold is inexplicable but learning to tell yourself you can get through this don't tap , breathe , trying to get his weight off you and sometimes even being able to make him tap out is just not easy but if it was easy everyone would do it so I think I do good .
Ah bro, I was a high school wrestler. This makes me feel good about myself. Thanks Joe lol
He should do jiu jitsu, bjj is for people who think wrestling is hard but enjoy the concept of wrestling. He would probably like it
If what they’re saying is that Wrestling and BJJ are sports that don’t really confer a lot of status, I agree.
When you come from a school with great wrestling history, you look at the champion boards in the gym and it inspires you to become great. It inspires you because you want to be on that board with the greats. Quitters will never be on those boards. But, those that stay, will be champions.
