Really enjoyed this video. As someone who has just started fishing again after a break of a few years, it contained plenty of really good info. I like to carp fish with rods and boilies etc. but I also love to fish with a pole. My pole wasn't expensive and is a carp animal tamer. I can't even remember who makes it, lol. I used to love fishing shallow, throwing pellets and corn in and using corn on the hook (I won't fish with anything that's alive, maggots, casters, worms etc, so particle baits and meat are what I tend to use). Subscribed :)
brilliant video matrix, and very very well put to us ben about what you were doing, i had a carp break my MTX 1 POWER in one of my video's, it got me round a corner before i chould get more sections on heigh ho, got a no 3 section on order, thank you matrix and ben 👍👍😎
Enjoyed the video!, personally I couldn’t do that. Way too scared of breaking the pole or hurting the fish. I’ll find a peg with no snags 😂 (not a match fisherman obvs)
tried out my margin 8 mtre pole yesterday for the first time. knew there were carp so have 16-18 elastic, 8 lb main and 6lb hook link to a size 14 hook. wasn't really hunting for carp, more looking for tench. that elastic stretches a long way. lost a decent one into the weeds, (pulled out). wasn't using the full 8 mtre as only 6 mtre out. would i have had better control using full 8 mtre or was it the elastic simply wasn't robust enough?
I've got a matrix mtx 1 and was thinking of getting the 8.7 matrix mtx margin pole just wondered do you get two or three top kits and was planning on using it for both bigger and silver fishing in front of me.
I’ve no doubt this man is a brilliant angler, but I’m not having that this isn’t damaging the fish😖 a 20 elastic and pulling them as hard has he does when he gets a bite can’t be good for the fish at all
No not at all. What is bad for the fish is them breaking you off in a snag and dragging your hook-length around with them. So if you are by Lily’s or snags, pull the fish hard becuase fish will pull just as hard as you do which shows they aren’t hurt by the pulling
@@boxingspidermonkey1 it’s not that I believe it’s hurting the fish it’s the damage I think it can do to them. I fish so wouldn’t like to think I’m hurting the fish but the way in which he drags them out can’t be good for them. I’ve seen fish in very bad ways and think we should do what we can to keep them in good healthy condition
This type of fishing is not for me. Perhaps in a match when you are placed in the peg without choice I can just about understand the method. However you word this, it is brutal fishing with every possibility of damaging the fishes mouth. Just not for me.
The elastic still acts as a shock absorber done it myself with 20 plus elastic I never ripped the lips off a carp seen s lot of damage done by inexperienced angler's using 3lb test curve rods 20lb breaking strain line and striking like they've hooked in to a great white then dragging fish through the snags. You should try it mate you will be surprised at how forgiving this elastic is and it's good sport done correctly. (Chloe's Dad) Top stuffed Ben and at a top fishery .
Of course, it could be argued, that catching a 15lb carp, on 5lb line, is worse for the fish. They fight that hard that by the time you get them in they are completely knackered. All the fish he caught looked healthy and lively. Just my opinion.....
Broom handle and rope ! Not a method I would want to endorse. IF I was lucky enough to own a fishery no way would I subject my stock to this method its not angling in my own opinion.
The truth is that angling is pure cruelty and there is no defending it. Why don’t they go out with their rods and put cat food on the hook and go catching cats! Why? Because it’s cruel!
Why are you even here if you don't like fishing? Fisheries take the livelihood of their fish stocks seriously. Most carp anglers carry anti septic, carp care spray with them and administer this if they catch a fish which is seen to be unhealthy. Fisheries also have very strict rules. Most of them only allow barbless hooks, for example and no keep nets, unless in a competition. And btw, anglers do catch cats, of the fish variety!
Ben you make snag fishing look easy thanks Matrix team

Nice one Ben!
Great video and tips
Nice one Ben and matrix .
Would you try a Solid elastic or power gum....? Top fishing.
Great information Certainty knows what he is doing The pole look's great.
Awesome Video 🎣
Did you use a short or long power kit? Would it make much difference when fishing against lily in pegs like this?
great video , how do you connect rig to elastic i dont see a stonfo or a dacron . could you show us how you do it?
A knot in the elastic covered by a bead. Connect your rig the same as you would to a dacron. Against the knot. Slide the bead over the lot.
Quality Ben well done

Can I pull this hard on my MTX1 as he does on the Margin? Since the topkits are the same
Cracking bit of skill.
What I don't understand is the matrix poles are elastic rating of 18, but he's using way above that? Am I missing something?
I enjoy the video, but what happens if you hook a 15 or 20 pound carp?🤞
Quite a few floating casters (3.53) helps get em shallow 🙈🙈

The venue produces big weights all year round to this style of fishing and the fish are really healthy.

He will just echo all of the anglers and say fish don’t feel pain. Go do this with other animals if it’s fine to do

As someone who fishes at rookery a lot i do find lots of the fish have damaged mouths but on the whole they are healthy fish

Ben does try to explain in the video that’s it’s not just about pulling the fish as hard as you can.
