Hello, I just want to thank you for motivating me from watching your incredible videos of the world. I'm a 70 year old retired American. My grandfather in 1917 was a soldier in the First World War. He was an avid photographer and took a precise chronicle of where he was in northern France which are mostly photos of the incredible devastation of churches, houses, towns, and farms. In fact under each photo he notes the exact town the picture was taken. I am going to follow by touring bike the exact route as defined by his photos. Then, I am going to find the exact place he was standing and take a present day photo. I have cycled through France in mostly tourist famous areas, and always on a carbon fiber racing bike.... not touring with saddle bags. I look forward to being in France France interacting with the locals to help me find my Grandfather's route. Thank you!
I especially enjoyed seeing you play with the Tumbleweed bush that you put on your head. My fat tyre off-road touring bike is built from a Tumbleweed Prospector frame, with a Rohloff rear hub and Son dynamo front hub and Jones bars. I am married to a Dutch woman. Her father introduced me to bicycle touring over 40 years ago. In the '80s we rode from Melbourne to Sydney in Australia via backroads. As well as many other tours along the Murray River and Murrumbidgee River. In the '90s we did a family tour in Nederland and northern parts of Belgium. I turned 70 this year and I'm still touring, quite often off-road on single-track. I love being subscribed to your videos and getting inspired by your adventures. Tot sins till the springtime.
Hello, your videos are something special for me. They always radiate calm and have something melancholic and beautiful about them. I will miss you but maybe the journey will continue. I'd be pleased. Thank you for taking me, I wish you a nice break, Bernhard
Great video guys! You are exploring 1 of the least known areas of Spain. You actually passed within 30 kms of where I live near Lleida. I would imagine that sudden temperature drop around 3am, which I have experienced, is caused by the clouds clearing as the heat of the day slowly dissipates. I think people who don't know Spain well are surprised at the huge range of temperatures and climate types here. We had a high last year of 48c, the air was hard to breathe it was so hot, like when you open the oven door, hence the castellano word for this heat "bochorno" - oven mouth. Enjoy your winter quarters. Stay safe.
Awesome adventure! Thanks for sharing. On cold, clear, windless nights there is a greater chance of frost. Clouds at night act as a blanket and keep the atmosphere relatively warm. But if there are no clouds there is nothing to hold the heat, especially if there is no wind and little or no moisture in the air, any heat stored in the ground during the day escapes quickly into the night air and there is a greater chance of a hard frost. That's my understanding. You guys are hearty souls, camping out in the cold. Keep each other warm! Thanks again. Stay safe.
Great video again. Hope you continue with more awesome adventure touring. About that cold temperature - possibly a South wind drift kept the evening warm, then if the wind stopped and the sky was clear, the temperature will plummet. Best things for the cold camping: - do not camp along creek-lines, river valleys nor in hollows; the cold air will settle and pool around you - camp under or near trees or other shrubs, these act as insulation to keep the warmer air from rising. But not under gum trees in Australia, they risk dropping branches and killing you. - use a tent with a double-skin and full fabric inner, not mesh.
Enjoy your break and it's well deserved. We will all be waiting for more in the future to live vicariously through your adventures. Your editing and production skills have become wonderful and makes us want to see so much more. This area in Spain is beautiful and I'm sure has been a great experience, although cold. Brrrr ! Thank you for sharing your lives with us.
We have absolutely loved watching your films of cycling through Spain. Such amazing scenery. You are an amazing couple and it’s inspiring to see how you overcome all the challenges that you have faced and the people you have met. Beautifully made films.
Thank you both so much for sharing your journey and allowing others share it with you. I will miss this journey but new journeys need to start. I appreciated the sense of humanity you brought out on your travels the most. Best wishes and thank you both again.
There are hundreds of different adventurer vlogers on youtube, but only a few on bicycles. Your videos are interesting and enjoyable. Hope you will continue.
I recently read that people where starving during their travels out west in the United States and they'd eat the tumbleweed. Supposedly it's a good source of protein and calcium. It doesn't look very appetizing but hey when your starving things look different.
Was always following your adventures with great interest. But now, as you’re cycling Europe again, it’s so much closer to my reality again. It makes it more ‘reachable’ for me. Keep on going and make me dream and planning!!!
Thank you again for sharing your amazing adventure. I am sure we have all appreciated the experiences and constant changing terrain. Enjoy and ride safe…Ted
Another delightful video series! Thank you. You two make a great couple (Did I hear you correctly? Eleven years together? Congratulations.) and great narrators/subjects for this video series. You make me want to get on my bike and explore. In case no one else provided this info: The temperature range in desert environments is very wide because the air is dry and heat dissipates rapidly. During the day the ground surface warms but cools overnight. Moreover, if the sky was cloudy or partly cloudy in the evening, the clouds hold the heat in (the classic greenhouse effect). If the sky clears during the night, the temperature plummets quickly. That Los Monegros landscape reminds so much of eastern Oregon in the USA. Except, Erich found bigger tumbleweed.
Thanks Desert Mantis :) Great to hear your getting the urge to explore! Thank you for the information about desert temperatures. Oregon sure is a place we would love to visit some day 🤞🏼 We love these kind of landscapes! All the best, E&M
Very good edit and choices of music with your b-roll and drone shots! I belong to one of the Facebook groups you guys do and that’s how I found your channel. You two have a good rhythm together and I enjoy the shit out of your episodes!
Thank you both for sharing another wonderful adventure with us! I'm glad you have been able to take a break during the Winter to spend time with family and I look forward to your next adventure in the Spring! You have inspired me to take an 8-day bike trip with my adult daughter across the state of New York on a newly opened bike trail that I'm excited about. We never know all the lives we touch :) Happy Trails!
Hi Mark! Thank you for your nice comment! Lovely to hear you are going on a bike trip with your daughter, just wonderful! Wishing you both fantastic time out and about :) All the best, E&M
Howdy road mates. I loved the mist in this one. There is a phenomenon in the desert of temperatures dropping suddenly due to low humidity (moisture in the air helps to retain heat on the surface. )
Currently the time and the wind are changing. Suddenly you can´t be shure anywhere ... everything becomes very emotional between fear and hope... ... Thanks for showing us your way of life in all these well-done 🚴🚴♂V-Logs... during your bike-travel-adventures... ... For example... when you celebrate the new day as if it were the first day of life ... ... okay - sorry, maybe it´s appllied a little too thick... but meanwhile in Europe something fundamental is likely to be destroyeed ... is this the end....⁉ ... hopefully you keep your promise... and if not... it doesn´t matter - good luck🍀💗🌈‼
Wonderful journey! Enjoy your winter break, i look foward to your Spring plans. Thank you for sharing your amazing experiences. I hope to tour parts of Europe someday.
The lowest expected temperature in the night is around the temperature of the dew point. The reason why the dew point is important is that at that temperature the moisture turns to fog and the temperature drops much slower after that. The dew point can be calculated from temperature + relative humidity and some formulas. So any device that measures humidity can give an indication of that. But if a weather front passes during the night and the new air is dryer and it is still clear, that means that there is a new dew point and and the temperature might plummet. That kind of shift (cold front) can usually not be seen in the clouds either and you need a forecast for that. A warm front on the other hands can be seen in the clouds.
Zeer begrijpelijk, het grijpt ons ook aan. Het is ergens raar om dit soort videos te maken in deze tijd. We hopen dat het een positieve bijdrage mag hebben... Dank & Groet!

Hello, I am from Indonesia,Thank you for you great videos and contents. It is inspire me to keep the dream for bike touring. I hope I can realize the bike touring as soon as possible. I am a bit surprise when I find a video that show you're from the Netherlands which I was studying there (Enschede) last year. I hope you enjoy your break , stay safe and keep healthy ❤
All the best to you both in whatever you decide to do. I've packed in cold weather camping- I'm too old for that now and it takes away the enjoyment of touring. I don't mind the occasional cold night as I have all the right gear. At 61 I need to be careful.
Many years ago I was given great advise - now I see the same advise on gambling ads - "when the fun stops, stop". If you find you're doing something you loved but suddenly find yourself weary of it, it's time to do something else for a while.
@@WheelstoWander sometimes a break is just what's needed, I know you two would always have Wanderlust and that's good- but we can lose our joy if we stop getting the same fun from our lives, take time out, have fun with something else and come back to touring later- you're both young enough for that. Whatever you decide I wish you peace and happiness and bright blessings
I was a little worried when I saw the title of the video. Great filming and production. Looking forward to the new series. I like that water bottle/carrier you use, I'm looking for one that will hold about one litre.
Sorry about that Graham 😅 Which water bottle carrier is that? The big one is from BBB: Fueltank XXL (discontinued) the small one from Lezyne: Powecage. All the best, E&M
I can’t help but notice the colour of your clothing and helmets on the bikes. I don’t claim any backpacking experience but as a bike rider in Australia I wear much brighter colours most of the time even on bike paths. As a recreational fishing person I wear the soft browns , blacks and grays you had on in this video. All I am saying is you could give it some thought over winter. Thanks for sharing.
The reason we have the subdued colours is to blend in while camping. On stretches where we feel traffic is dangerous we wear signal yellow safety vests!
Bravo!! we will wait your next videos! next year you was amazing in all way!! also is good to make for europe some good maps for bike tours 1000klm-3000-5000 etc wish you the bests! love from Crete
Hello!! I stopped touring 20 years ago! And now I'm coming over to retirement taking on touring with a passion!! I bet you're just taking a break! LOL 🖖🤣🤣🤣🌎🚴
It is still, quite cold here in my area I reside in Nevada too. I've been doing research on this state. It will start having warmer temps in March progressing through 3 months to very hot temps in June, July, and August, then the heat will taper down through September, October and November. The last week of November is when it starts to get cold and by December, it gets really cold. Just last week, it snowed where I am at, yet we are in the month of February???? I am surrounded by Mountains and that day it snowed, the mountains got more snow on them. (Just majestic and beautiful every time I drive down the road to another destination) The air is very clean where I reside and I can see miles for miles to Las Vegas to the East mountains, and the west which are called the Cascade Sierra mountains which the leeward side of these is California. I hope you two make it out to USA and see our national parks, mountains, canyons, etc. This country has a lot of beautiful, majestic landscapes.
thnx for all the great entertainment you've provided me and others. enjoy your break. i have to ask...have you've watched "from cape to cairo by bike" on youtube? i'm sure you must have. besides wheels to wander, it's honestly the best thing i have ever seen on YT. : ) epic drone shots at the end btw. thnx again!
With all of the madness happening in the world right now, you bring a breath of fresh air, peace and hope. Thank you ♥️

Your videos are not only bike vlogs, its ART 😀all the best for you both
Thanks so much Tamas 😊
I can’t help but notice the colour of your clothing and helmets on the bikes. I don’t claim any backpacking experience but as a bike rider in Australia I wear much brighter colours most of the time even on bike paths. As a recreational fishing person I wear the soft browns , blacks and grays you had on in this video. All I am saying is you could give it some thought over winter. Thanks for sharing.
The reason we have the subdued colours is to blend in while camping. On stretches where we feel traffic is dangerous we wear signal yellow safety vests!
Nice production 🙂
Thanks :)

Hi Tracey! We would love to see the US some day, it sounds incredibly beautiful :) Wishing you all the best, E&M
The bicycle is the only chain that sets you free!
