keep your head up lad. one day at a time! just a reminder that you’ve brought plenty of joy to people over the past however long. you’ve certainly sparked plenty of howling laughs in this house. keep going! you’re smashing it
@@JakesJourneyMatemate as an avid motorhomer mostly on my own I have 2 dogs and they don’t stop me hiking wherever ,they are great companions and when your in a funk you only have to slip your trainers on and ‘go walkies’ with them , there’s 100 % more benefit with them than cons . From one ex squaddie to another . Had plenty of bad times but none in the van with the dogs in the middle of nowhere
Not everyone understands how you can live the best life out of a van, and travel the world, yet still you get lonely and still have problems to deal with. The constant rush of dopamine of always moving around and always on the go becomes exhausting to the brain. I felt that really hard after a few months in my van. Being home and being around those that you know and make you feel comfortable, that goes a really long way. The reset is needed to keep the passion into the road. Enjoy the journey.
Hi mate am signing off soon and need some ideas for jobs to do when I leave as I'm not sure what I want to do but I've got me camper van so Ik I'll be travelling in that 😂
Too deep, dont care 🤣 I like the real stuff. I like your channel because you are so autentic/real. Deep is real wisdom. Even depressing is real wisdom. I mean all that on the surface happy stuff is not real. Experiencing and ubderstanding reality is somewhat depressing. But also beautifull and fulfilling if we grow trough it. But first we have to get real. Pretty painful. I hope more people will share there deep understandings and become more real.
Chin up marra, but yea, we all need to recharge ourselves from time to time. Out of interest, where did you get your steering wheel cover, need one that's grippy in the 3 and 9 position for my X-Trail and that looks ideal.
Always a pleasure to watch ...we all have these moments Jake...good on you for talking about it all. Your vlogs are just the best from start to finish ..a good walk and food feeds the soul. Take care😊
Chin up lad. Little tip that'll reduce the need for sifting that rice and washing it up... Put twice as much water in as rice and cook on a really low heat for like 12 mins. All the water will disappear and you're left with fluffy rice!
Chin up bud we all go though slumps Life has a habit of getting us down. I know how u feel iv been going through loads atm in my personal life just take each day as it comes
❤ hey Jake sorry to see ur in a slump , bet ur missing the lovely Becs and who could blame u . Getting out in nature is great but ur right u need to take time out off youtube i think its burn out seen so many say that on YT. I live in a shepherds hut at the mo and for the last 8 months and longing to get it in my field i need help to move it and a 20' container also so difficult no one seems to want to help me that is sad . I will pay them of course but still no closer 😔 i love my life style just need to move everything next door for my utopia . I don't let it get me down for long I'm just frustrated 🥴 keep ur chin up things will get better for both of us 🙏❤️ Craig is a tonic for u mate he suffers too bless him ❤️
If you have not already …. Give yourself to Jesus brother …. I felt very lost like what your describing couple years back…. No I am resting in HIS peace and have that empty void filled …… go speak to a military pastor if you still able to contact one or speak to a local one. Just a thought for you …. Take it easy bro peace and love 🙏
Billie Can? You’re bushcraft is showing through brother! Great video! Love the van setup! If I had the years to do it all over again, I would follow your lead. But the mortgage and family prevents all that so I’ll just live vicariously through you! Thanks for sharing mate, across the big pond! Melancholy on the trail, melancholy in the van, I think you need a Rebecca back in your life mate. 😊
I don’t know you just came across this channel and love it . From an ex soldiers who’s struggled daily since leaving keep ya chin up fella . You’ve done in 18 months what I’ve tried and now achieved in 15 years . Be proud and keep the van life up and the awesome vids coming . ❤
Big respect for this video Jake. Watching your videos feels like being on this life journey with you and so the occasional wobble or reset is all part of it. I’ve had a very recent challenge mentally too and yep, getting out in the wilderness sorted me out again! I’m REALLY looking forward to the great glen way footage and of course the SWCP 😊
I’ll be honest mate, this hit home big time. I feel like since leaving the army I’ve had those exact mood swings , never know why , never know how to get myself out of them and never know how long it’ll last but it’s flipping real. You are essence at getting your point across , you should be proud of what you’re doing it’s unbelievable Stay safe , enjoy and let the good times roll
This happens to many good men who served, you have lived a certain way for so long, routines, camaraderie, established bonds of trust, serving your Country comes with responsibilities, awareness civilian don’t have. Then one day you leave all you know behind, including those people you respected and vice versa, you must forge ahead. Try to return to your boyhoods, and the things that gave you laughs, feel goods, it’s all about finding yourselves again, you must have a purpose and the irony is giving to others is receiving, it takes away the loneliness, the self absorbency of thoughts that may bring too much solitude. Jake is giving to others in his way, his nature walks, his cooking, his sharing of thoughts and saucepans😅. I’m in Australia, our govt bureaucrats and old foggie ex military personnel created huge problems for ex soldiers, many committed suicide as a result of PTSD, and no financial assistance to transit into a civil society after many years of service. It has been extremely hard to watch good men break down along with families by their side. Keep busy, keep laughing, and please leave The grey skies of England regularly, grey skies can set moods for depression. Best wishes to all you good men who feel the blues, our world has been tipped upside down, so find your terra firma ❤
I’m watching your videos on catch up Jake as I’ve been out of the loop for a while. Followed your journey from the beginning and have loved every moment of it. Actually, it doesn’t feel like watching a journey, it feels like you take us along with you.. through all of it, ups and downs. Hopefully you’re feeling better now and keep doing what you’re doing. ❤️
Good people are watching you and I bet a good few watching over you too. You are young and have your whole life ahead of you... Take it in your stride fella!
Stay safe fella.... really enjoyed your voyage through life, with the van build and the hikes... heads pace is sooo important.. hope you feel.more sorted soon... take it easy and have a beer on me... ATB Ian
I got out of the military 13 years ago. I had all these goals I wanted to accomplish. The first month I got out, I've been having energy and sleeping issues. Found out I have central sleep apnea. Low testosterone and iron. One thing I would love to do is get a van and travel with my dog in nature. Just wish I had the energy.
I’ve just moved into mine last 4 months and feel you here, slightly worried about winter months but otherwise if fuels the soul just need me a reset now and then. been enjoying seeing your adventures with Craigey EAB - keep it uppp 🚐

Get a dog, Jake. Something like a border collie : they’re athletic and smart, and very good friends.
Would love one! But worry about restrictions on hikes & other bits haha!

7:20 Bit of down time? Not feeling yourself? Balls deep in boredom? Crack out a bit of self love..... Once a squaddie always a squaddie ;)
Re-invent yourself mate. You'll find more happiness and find yourself on the way. Take care of yourself brother Jake. 👍
Love ya brother ✌
Subscriber from Andover where you went to pure gym, wickes, and Lidl. Shame I didn’t see you mate could have had a chat. Keep the videos coming 👍🏻
I don't like how you said a little 6inch...6inch is above average 😂
just like a static house is not for everyone, you always need money to fix the house up, and so a van will always need the same love.
My pet companions 🐶🐱 are my balance when not w/fam.❤they bring peace & purpose when the rest of the world is fucked up.
Your videos are only getting better mate 👌🏽 you thought about getting a dog to keep you company on your travels? The company’s always good!
Really enjoyed that mate. I'm sure your honesty really resonated with many.
