I don't hear others say this often, but I really like the character of Governor Swan. You can see at the end of this movie, and more so in the next couple movies, that his main concern is for the happiness of his daughter, even when he disagrees with her decisions.

It's a good franchise, the 2nd & 3rd are really good too. I'd recommend them all personally. I know as a franchise gets long in the tooth some people don't like them as much, but even the later ones still have new story's/villains to add.

Ok, ok, if she gave the coin back to Wiil, there would be evidence that he was with the pirates... if she gives it to her daddy and says, I found this in the boy, Will gets found out as being with the pirates.
She absolutely would have given it back to Will had theire been time BUT daddy and others show u, then LIFE happens! and so on and so on always with, "Do I give it back to Will when he doesn't remember this thing that would get him killed?"
Think it through.. there is no out that isn't dangerous to Willexcept keep it hidden.

@@Ronfost89 There are some scenes in the first movie that are cartoony as well. The second and third are worth a watch, actually. Captain Jack Sparrow was known for being cartoony sometimes.
@@AdamRee-lx8uh Oh I don't deny the first movie had its cartoony bits but nothing in comparison to the breaking of all laws of physics that happen in the 2nd and 3rd movie. Aside from that 2 and 3 are too long and bloated. Sure the 2nd movie only had a bit longer of a run time then the first but it's pacing was horrific so it felt twice as long. They also turn all of the characters into caricatures of themselves and the plot is no where near as fun as the first movies. Davy Jones was a shit antagonist and what's his face, the British bad dude wasn't any better.
@@Ronfost89 I strongly disagree everything you just said. Davy Jones is actually a great villain. And just because they’re long doesn’t mean they’re bad. I’ve watched and enjoyed the second and third one, and they didn’t feel long to me. I think you are overthinking things.

People hate on the next two movies, but I'm not entirely sure why. The second, especially, has some fantastic parts. As for the 4th and 5th . . . well, they exist. I'll leave it at that.
We thought the first three was the best, but the fourth and fifth one, not as good.
Never heard a single person "hate on" the 2nd or 3rd movie, ever... let alone "people" in general. I've heard a few downsides to the 3rd, including one from myself (I think they exaggerated Jack Sparrow, making him too pie-in-the-face ridiculous), but i still think it's a great and fun movie. Just because someone has something negative to say about something/someone doesn't make them a "hater" of that thing/person...

"The first one is great, but the others are all awful," is something a friend of mine said. "I can't even watch the others," was something my own brother said. And I've come across several people - personally - who hate every movie but the first. So I'll repeat this, and hopefully you'll learn it earlier in life than I did: your personal experience isn't always the test of truth.

One of 2 films for Johnny Depp that became a major blockbuster success, made him a worldwide movie star and recipient of several awards for Best Actor in an Leading Role (including Oscar and Golden-Globe nominations).
Disney made a prior film based on something from the theme parks and it flopped for several reasons.
PoTC most definitely took things up a notch.
Most films of this particular genre or subject matter would've not survived in this day and age.
Fun, adventurous and plenty of characters to go around.
Nods to the theme park attraction itself if your familiar with it.
All 5 films together grossed $4.5 billion.
Every one of them is worth watching.
Definitely react to the sequels.
The only downside was Depp being let go from the franchise dued to a certain, toxic lying-a** woman.
You make it sound like Johnny Deep was unknown before POTC... And he very much was a huge international moviestar long before that :-) He's been famous since the early 80ies!!

Pirates was his biggest film as far as budget and scale.

First 3 are great. And you have to watch the 5th one for the happy ending.
Black Pearl is 10/10. The next two are 8/10 but still very fun and the lore gets deeper and cooler. Try to watch them back to back if you can they kinda work best as one long movie.

The second pirates movie is the best
The first three are the best.
These movies hold up pretty well, except for dating themselves right away with that corset scene. It's now more commonly known corsets didn't suffocate people, they were pretty much old versions of bras/back support. If you laced yourself this tight you were as big of a dumbass as you'd be today if you buckled a belt till you can't move.
Great reaction, btw this franchise has after credits scenes so i highly recommend to check them as well

Tobey Maguire, Jude Law, Heath Ledger, Tom Hiddleston, Ben Peyton, Christian Bale, Ewan McGregor, and Chris Masterson were considered for Will Turner.
Jessica Alba, Amanda Bynes, and Jaimie Alexander were considered for Elizabeth Swann.
Sylvester McCoy of Doctor Who and Tom Wilkinson were considered for Governor Swann.
At one point Steven Spielberg was almost picked to direct the project, but was too busy working on Minority Report and Catch Me If You Can, both released in 2002.
Love your channel & I love this movie (But.- Always a But.) If the men are cursed because they stole the cursed Aztec Gold & moonlight shows them for who they really are. Elizabeth Swan holds a cursed Aztec Gold coin she literally 'stole off a Pirate' & she wears. Shouldn't Miss Swan have been under the curse as well?
Well, will was given the medallion by his dad but will was not a pirate. But either way she did steal it from will when he was passed out as a kid and by all means she should have realised years ago that she looks like a skeleton in the moonlight haha, but logic go away, this is disney!

Because Will Turner picked up the gold coin that Barbossa knocked out of Elizabeth's hand when he knocked her off the pile of gold so we know Will Turner also had a coin in his possession during the fight & I don't recall him being a skeleton in the moonlight. & You are correct he did not take it from the chest. He picked it up off the ground & the curse did not affect him. Well done!
