Tornado Review, Parque de Atracciones de Madrid Intamin Inverted Coaster | How Does it Compare?

- Tornado is a rare Intamin inverted coaster at Parque de Atracciones de Madrid. This ride features a fun layout with 3 snappy inversions. This ride feels distinctly different from the more common Bolliger & Mabillard or Vekoma inverts, and I'll explain why in this review.

This was my first looping coaster. It was originally painted fluorescent green. It had a biiiiiiig ''roar'' that got neutered when it got repainted in black in the early 2000's due to neighbour complains. Maybe harder and more silent wheels are the reason for the need of an almost full train. I thought the coaster was very very mild in forces, and I still think that (no matter if it's front or back). One time, riding in the first row, I got stung by a bee that got stuck on my belly for 50% of the ride. This is a ride often recommended for the 1st looping coaster for someone.
I knew it had some noise issues, so maybe that is why it has issues completing the circuit without a full train. I was wondering why Intamin would make a coaster like that.
You theorically can't ride it if you're over 187cm, but by a miracle for my credit count, I could ride it even if I'm 195 (Sorry Americans, I don't know how much it is in feet). There was no problem with the restraint, but when my feet hit the catwalk, I started to be scared, and omg this ride has the most insane foot choppers I've ever seen. Sad the ride is so bad, because it's an unforgettable ride for me!
I didn't know it had a max height.
I love the 2 hangtime heartline rolls there fun and I love this model especially since it’s so rare and there pretty fun not as good as some B&Ms but still very fun, also good video bro keep it up your doing really good
I agree it's a good ride.
I think the main reason for the inconsistent forces of the elements are the long trains. One of the main reason B&M often uses short trains is, in addition to being able to navigate tighter turns, it gives a more consistent experience across the train. Especially early on, Intamin didn’t really do that, which is probably why their turns are noticeably more spread-out than those of other manufacturers.
That is a good point.
I liked this ride alot
Good forces and some good whip like you said
The forces are nice.
You forget to mention Eurostar wich is the world's largest portable inverted roller coaster and is built by Intamin.
That wasn't solely an Intamin product as Giovanola did the track.
I travelled to Madrid in 2016 and got the chance to visit the park briefly for an afternoon and of course Tornado was closed for the day :')
Sorry that you missed it!
So how would you compare this ride to, for example, Blue Tornado at Gardaland and Iron Claw at Movie Park Germany? I say that because they are three inverted coasters with inversions and over-the-shoulder restraints. I think the three look intense.
Tornado is far more comfortable and enjoyable.
Would you like to go again to ride Tornado at Parque de Atracciones de Madrid, and how do you compare it to the Vekoma SLCs, both with the over the shoulder restraints?
Tornado is better and yes I'd like to go back.
I think there was the sign back in 2019 that said the seats had to be filled but it's to get and ride
Yes
So how would you compare Tornado at Parque de Atracciones de Madrid to, for example, Vampire at Walibi Belgium or Iron Claw at Movie Park Germany, in terms of forces?
Tornado has more positive Gs, but all rides are intense.
Do you like this ride's over-the-shoulder restraints, or do you wish...?
I'd prefer a lap bar.
Intamin Inverts look to be way better than other Inverts from other companies imo.
I prefer B&M inverts, but these beat Vekoma ones.
Is this better than Tornado at Särkänniemi?
I prefer Sarkanniemi's.
Do you prefer this or the Batman: The Ride Clones?
Most Batmans are better.
I hope you mind me asking this but what route did you take around the park to get on all coasters?
Definitely save Tornado for last. It has a minimum rider requirement that makes it difficult to ride if you go there first. I recommend doing Abismo first since it has awful capacity. Tarantula is good to do after since it's next to Abismo's exit.
@@CanobieCoaster thank you
Wonder why they didn't build more of these
I don't know. Probably cost and reliability, maybe? But parks in America should take notice. Especially since Six Flags works with Intamin again, maybe we can see these be some new "Batman the Ride" coasters to create a different experience than the B&M clones.
My guess is cost. I think they were priced between Vekoma and B&M inverts.
So what would you rate this ride?
See the review.
What About Eurostar?
I don't count that one purely as an Intamin since Giovanola did the track.
odd. I never knew that intamin could make those.
They didn't make many.
So it has an ending similar to raptor ..ok
True, it is similar!
Do you not like, do you like, or do you love the ride's pacing?
It's wonky, but works.
What does that mean? "Wonky"?
Odd
