- Day 2 - An early rise for our first cooked breakfast of the week and arrival at Barnetby Station for just after 8am.
Today was 'allotment' day.......... plenty of 'sheds'. With track maintenance at Scunthorpe Iron Ore, unfortunately no ore trains were running so it was left to the plethora of coal trains to keep us filming today along with one Tug, 74 which at least stopped in the station for a crew change due to the late running of the working and the driver going 'over-hours'
38 workings were noted today, of which 33 were captured on film. This is likely to be the last time we visit Barnetby with all the semaphore and signalboxes as it is anticipated that these will disappear early 2015....... another view consigned to the history books.
A little bit of rain around late morning/lunchtime and then the winds started to pick up in the afternoon so apologies for the addition noise on film...... the start of the taile-end of Hurricane Gonzalo which was certainly upon us at Whitley Bridge the day after.
We left Barnetby Station at 5.30pm and headed to Selby where we would be based for the next two nights at the Hazledene Guest House (thorughly recommend).
Day 3 coming soon...... Whitley Bridge
Again, due to the size of the file, the quality has been reduced down from 1080p to 720p.
Wonderful part two of you journey Steve, always good to see trains at Barnetby before those semaphore signals go...Bob
Another fine show of the freight at Barnetby there Steve.Looked a great day and loved the clip with the 60074 stopping and departing after a crew change.Shame about the rain spoiling part of your day....Trevor.''
Nice again. Not so windy there
Ahhh yes the good old days controlled by semaphore
