1. Chop two pinches of ginger and put them in a mug 2. Squash the juice out with a spoon 3. Add boiling water and let it brew 4. Decant into another mug but use a sieve to take out the ginger bits 5. Add honey, mix and enjoy If you have it several times a day it really helps.
if you have a cold have lemon and honey first get some lemon in a mug or cup and then add honey (add as much as you want) but make sure it is tangy then put it in the microwave until its hot and drink

I got everything in my house except the tissue box😂. To get rid of runny nose, my mum gets a balti full of warm water and Vicks mixed together (only 1 wooden spoonful) so you inhale the heat. To get rid of a sore throat, I find hot lemonade helpful and wrapping my neck with a scarf😌
things I expect to see in a Bengali household:1. Daal-ghutni (its called ghotni in hindi I think, but I like our bangla pronunciation) 2. shutki (you have already mentioned)3. THE showcase (yham)4. boti (its a cutting instrument in case you don't know what it is)5. piri (small tool)6. shorisha/ kashondi 7. meril petroleum jelly (could be Vaseline too) 8. squat toilet pan 9. smell of food in everything10. more stuff used as decorative than necessary 11. Balti (yham) 12. bodna 13. khunti (its a very Bengali version of a regular spatula) 14. jharu 15. katha (blanket)
