Honestly Miller is probably my favorite guy in this story. The man came to document for the news, ended up being debatably the main contributor to the rescue of Collins and even layed down the lamps which kept him alive for as long as they burned. Massive respects, and RIP William Miller 1904-1983
The sad part is the last words Floyd ever heard were “Tommorow! Were getting ya out!” And he died not knowing they were putting so much effort to dig down 60 feet 😢
Man, what an absolutely nightmarish story. Nothing but respect to Gerald, Miller, Homer, Burdon for having the courage to brave the Squeeze in an attempt to save Floyd.
Props to Miller because I thought he’d end up being a sleazy reporter. He ended being the 2nd most tenacious digger in the story, with only Gerald outdoing him.
This is such a tragic story, I had so much hope for his survival. The fact that they finally got him out after he'd already passed is gut-wrenching and has me feeling like I should've helped, even though I obviously couldn't have. To think his body would then be used as an ornament for a money-hungry degenerate is also incredibly frustrating and disrespectful. I hope he finally found peace in the end, and it's a pity there wasn't more time for him.
I think if time travel were to EVER be a thing someday, it should be used to alter past events for a happier ending. Like, go back in time with modern day / sci-fi equipment, save Floyd, then leave a letter or something to make sure that the time travellers in this new timeline would have an incentive to take the original's place to avoid a paradox. But even without the fantasy of a piece of equipment that may never exist, at least Floyd got out of the cave and got a proper burial after so long, so it's not a complete victory but not a complete loss either.
I'm sure there's a smart answer, but why didn't they picaxe the "L" part of the cave? Even if the gravel fell, Collin's would've been able to sit "up" or atleast reposition himself...
@@josegordo488 Gotcha. I assumed it was a gravel pocket that could've easibly been moved through. So the best bet was for them to dig down to where his foot (or head) was but it was too late by then.

@Koopa Troopa Warrior he did eat normally before getting stuck. He did also eat something when he was stuck when Homer bought him food. Not only that he only drunk coffee while in there which can work as laxative.
Well, not saying that he didnt, he might've but usually when people are under extreme life threatening stress, the body seems to repress anything thats not important to immediate survival.
Despite many trying to help him, I can't help but feel sick at those who not only spread false rumors about him out of blind hate and jealousy, but those who vandalized his body, and took advantage of him as a lifeless corpse, all to make a greedy profit. A lot of humans are just sick, vile, and disgusting beings, who do not deserve life whatsoever. When my family and I went to Mammoth Cave National Park in the 90s and got to go on some of the cave tours there, we actually saw a presentation on this very incident and being a little kid a the time I didn't really absorb all the information about it and all I remember about it was a man dies while being trapped in Sand Cave. This harrowing story is not only a prime example of man's determination to save someone they care about even if the odds are highly stacked against them, but also highlights man's disgusting habit of exploitation. In May of 2014 I went back to the park, this time with a friend, and we walked out onto this board walk and at the end of it, was the entrance to Sand Cave and I was quite surprised at how small the entrance was, so you could really get a great idea of how narrow it was. I would say that the real mvp's of this story were Floyd's brother Homer, Miller, Burdon, and Floyd's friend Gerald. What a tragic yet interesting story.
This man is an absolute gem of a UA-camr, he reacts to an hour long video that is also uncomfortable to watch, and while he is Ill, just to entertain us. Bravo.
If so many people hadn't clustered at this location from the beginning, doing all the things like trampling about and making fires, they might have had more time to figure out what to do or even think "maybe we should ask Floyd what's on the other side of the hole he's in, maybe we could come from the other side." Without that cave-in happening five days in they might have had more of a shot to work things out.
There were many other ways it could have gone. If more than two guys had the nerve to go in there when the cave was still stable they could have probably just dug him out like his brother was trying. If that guy had been allowed his second rope pull after Miller had been halfway dug out he probably could have pulled him out (though Miller might not have survived the injuries he'd have gotten pulling him out, but he died of exposure anyway so) if the Governor had gotten involved even a few days earlier and they managed to dig from above sooner they could have gotten to him before he died. As someone who lives in Kentucky I can say the weather here is always inconsistent with one day being very cold and the next being extremely hot, so ofc that would make all of this so much harder
As a Virginian, it's the same here. We've got a saying: "If you don't like the weather in Virginia, don't worry. Just wait a day and it'll be totally different."
I ask this question as much as Ryan does too; *why the hell do people go cave diving with the MILLIONS of risks at hand?* The more you chase the dragon the faster it's gonna bite and then burn you alive....
When I went camping in 5th grade with my classmates we all went to a cave and had to crawl through this really narrow hole. I was on my stomach doing the army crawl. I was so scared but it was also kinda fun not ever doing that before.
I'd never thought I'd watch something like this, I thought it was gonna be like the Mimic like things from another video, but the fact that this is based off a true story, holy crap this is indtimating, just goes to show how one turn of events can be your end. I hate tight spaces and I always will
i was absolutely captivated by this and hope you react to more of these kinda of videos. its so much easier to digest with someone like you in the room with me. I hope the Collins family is at peace now after this horrific event
I am SO excited to see you react to this! I watched this video a couple weeks ago and it's so interesting! Terrifying and almost comical at points. I watched a few other people react to it, and was shocked and so happy to see this video pop up!
The people gossiping and waiting outside for no reason, were the first people to do what every school kid does when a phone and fight are in the same room
Ironically, I saw this on Mr. Ballen's youtube channel months ago... then BionicPig, and now here! This is an AMAZING show of belief in humanity, and also... how horribly inconsiderate they can be... it is a rollercoaster of emotions!
IF you are a fan of the Strange, Dark, and Mysterious, Subscribe to these guys! Or at least Pig's reactions on his live channel, they are sooo good! and you can join in with him!
I have always had this fear of not being able to move my limbs, so this is horrifying to watch. This is why i will always stay inside of my home, and not do deadly things. I dont feel the thrill.
I’m pretty sure the reason people cave dive, and this doesn’t apply to everyone, is a phenomenon called The call of the Abyss. It has something to do with a natural instinct / urge to understand the unknown. People go into the tiny caves to understand what is down there, and sometimes just to get the thrill of exploring the unknown. I personally don’t understand why people enjoy it, but if they do, then they do.
when floyd said: ive faced death before it doesn't frighten me" gave me mad respect bro legit went into a cave so he can make bank and lost his life in the process what a legend

I actually like this, I watched it a couple days after release, and I love the storytelling and Ryans reactions to the story! Would love to see some more.
The fact I sat down to watch this and not paid attention that it was an hour long reaction is crazy but shows how well paced but heartbreaking this situation was for Floyd and his family and those who were doing their hardest to help him. Thanks again Ryan for being a voice of reason and relate to how frustrated each drawback kept coming.
I know Internet Historian has had the video struck down by copyright but hopefully he was able to get it back. His other videos are amazing as well. Cost of Concordia is my personal favorite
Once again we are presented with the case of desperation that picks away on morality. Like how can you defile a person so much after their death? I like these reaction videos so much, I also think it serves as a good pause from gaming if that takes a lot or if there isn't much exciting options.
"Why everytime it's just the- it's the concept of a cave dive like how is this entertainment why do people want to die on the daily" Truest response i've heard ever
AJFGHHRSF Ryan’s uploads really make my day, something to look forward to in times of stress. Also: dang it’s sickening to see what happened to Collins 💀 I ain’t ever going near a cave
i absolutely loved this video! I don't usually comment unless I have something funny to say (which is rare lol) but AHHH I'd absolutely love to watch more of these documentary-like reactions. It's nice to sit and get your reactions, alongside the actual video, it's sort of calming in a way.
Huh, wendigoon. Edit: I literally screamed when he showed just how long and deep the cave was. Edit 2: I’m glad he got out of the cave even after death, he’s at peace, and the cave lost, that’s all that matters to me.
It's sad that theoretically, Homer and everyone else could have done the digging plan WAY earlier into the rescue. And it would've worked since it apparently took 11 days to dig out.
I never usually comment on videos but that feeling of knowing you'd never see another person, the sun, your family or even food and water. With that feeling, I think I'd already be dead.
it just makes my heart warm to see the human race get together and help a person no matter the differences I'm halfway through so I don't know what happens hopefully he makes it out alive
Now now Ryan, while the idea of being caught in a bunch of rocks is rational and understandable, I'm sure this only happens when something goes wrong, I think.
30:06 I 100% agree. A pulley system would be the ideal way to get Floyd outta there. His feet will tear for sure but at least he'll be out of the cave for a few minutes before bleeding out of dying from shock.
Imagine almost going to heaven then get stopped by the Angels, then they pull you harshly into the Hell's entrance. When you screaming and asking of what sin that you did, they just answer, "You help killing a man, by standing and sitting still, only thinking about how you can make fortune out of his missery"
Oooo, I’m so excited, this cave video sounds good, I kinda love the fact this is kind of real, you’re the reason I stay calm, and stay happy, you’re awesome, love your content
I love Internet Historian's Costa Concordia video, and I'm surprised but happy that you're reacting to one of his videos. He has a pretty interesting style that definitely makes his content stand out.
What Thomas did with Floyd's body was utterly cruel and inhumane. This is exactly what greed can do to people and the fact this dentist went out of his way to display Floyd's corpse and disrespect his whole family is disgraceful.
I love these types of reaction videos! Analog horror, vhs and other things alike are very entertaining to watch and listen to. Please continue to produce such great videos!
I remember watching this when it came out. It was and still does feel very heart crushing to see and hear it. I also don't like the whole idea of Splunking. Good video as always Ryan!!
Sad how the man went out of this world, when the team could have literally dug in through the opposite side of the cave to remove the rock. Then the nonsense after his passing, everyone who did him dirty, got exactly what they deserved, crazy how the story went and concluded.
how it went from him just trying to find the piece of the beautiful cave to him experiencing the worse death...i feel bad for him...how many times he saw hope, all for it to be pointless.

I was disappointed in this one, though. Literally copied 100% from an article that was written about this incident.
I felt so bad for the guy at the end..they tried everything to get him out and that so close so many times, but sadly destiny has a way of doing things we cannot comprehend and ssdly..it was his destiny to fall asleep forever in that cave system...
i sat and stewed in my hope for his survival to find out that the cave finally got him after all, legitimately has me down in the dumps right now
As someone who lives in Kentucky I can say the weather here is always inconsistent with one day being very cold and the next being extremely hot, so ofc that would make all of this so much harder
As a Virginian, it's the same here. We've got a saying: "If you don't like the weather in Virginia, don't worry. Just wait a day and it'll be totally different."
never in a thousand years have I imagined Ryan doing a reaction to internet historian, this is amazing, please watch more from him
I ask this question as much as Ryan does too; *why the hell do people go cave diving with the MILLIONS of risks at hand?*
The more you chase the dragon the faster it's gonna bite and then burn you alive....
never thought I'd ever cry so hard from any of Ryan's videos
When I went camping in 5th grade with my classmates we all went to a cave and had to crawl through this really narrow hole. I was on my stomach doing the army crawl. I was so scared but it was also kinda fun not ever doing that before.
I'd never thought I'd watch something like this, I thought it was gonna be like the Mimic like things from another video, but the fact that this is based off a true story, holy crap this is indtimating, just goes to show how one turn of events can be your end. I hate tight spaces and I always will
Yeah I thought I was getting Ted the Caver, but instead I got Nutter Butter Cave :( The ending was somewhat happy so there's that...
i was absolutely captivated by this and hope you react to more of these kinda of videos. its so much easier to digest with someone like you in the room with me. I hope the Collins family is at peace now after this horrific event
I kinda wished Ryan just rested while ill. The determination on this man!
You see cats like going in those spaces but their whiskers allow them to tell if something is smaller than their body and know when to back up
I am SO excited to see you react to this! I watched this video a couple weeks ago and it's so interesting! Terrifying and almost comical at points. I watched a few other people react to it, and was shocked and so happy to see this video pop up!
This was scarier than a lot of things I’ve seen. Mostly because the story was real and had real stakes.
Terrifying.
Everyone hit the like button this man decided to make a 1 hour video just for us while he doesn’t feel 100%
Please do more of these type of reactions! I really enjoyed both your commentary and the documentary itself!
I have always had this fear of not being able to move my limbs, so this is horrifying to watch. This is why i will always stay inside of my home, and not do deadly things. I dont feel the thrill.
The fact that people would try all of this for just one person shows that humans are amazing
Once again it's time to watch Wendigoon get trapped in a cave by Internet Historian, but this time with Ryan reacting in horror. :D
I'm glad you watched this video, it's one of Internet Historian's best videos and I love the collab with my favorite horror UA-camr Wendigoon.
I hope so badly that this video blows up so he can see internet historians collection of banger videos. Please. Pleassssssseeeee. These two are some of the best bread and butter to enjoy on yt, and having them both in the same video would be a treat i will rewatch every now and then. ❤
Some parts of this story is really messed up but glad that guy was freed from being kept in the cave as an attraction.
I actually like this, I watched it a couple days after release, and I love the storytelling and Ryans reactions to the story!
Would love to see some more.
I clicked as soon as I saw the title knowing for sure it was a video reacting to internet historian and I'm so happy I was right, this is incredible
I love wendigoon, internet historian, and Ryan, this is a win-win-win
.... Just 😲, this guy and his body went through so much. This is crazy and amazing!
"Why everytime it's just the- it's the concept of a cave dive like how is this entertainment why do people want to die on the daily"
Truest response i've heard ever
AJFGHHRSF
Ryan’s uploads really make my day, something to look forward to in times of stress.
Also: dang it’s sickening to see what happened to Collins 💀 I ain’t ever going near a cave
Ryan reacting to some good old Internet Historian, especially the cave video.
1+ hour of enjoyment to be had.
At 36:38 when Ryan was like “I thought they were going to say that theatres were going to reenact it” I kinda just went “uhhhhh…. Wellllllll….”
And I thought John Jones’s fate was horrible in the nutty putty cave
i absolutely loved this video! I don't usually comment unless I have something funny to say (which is rare lol) but AHHH
I'd absolutely love to watch more of these documentary-like reactions. It's nice to sit and get your reactions, alongside the actual video, it's sort of calming in a way.
hi ryan, love your videos they are really good and they make me happy when i’m sad or bored. Keep up the great work 💜👍
Huh, wendigoon.
I love that Ryan is really empathetic, he's always really nice and caring for either his community or other people.
Internet Historian is such a good UA-camr, love his videos
ryan needs to do this more its so fun to watch
Certaintly unexpected, but I love it! Hope more reaction vids like this follow
I love the longer videos, they are great to watch on the side. Please make more
I never usually comment on videos but that feeling of knowing you'd never see another person, the sun, your family or even food and water. With that feeling, I think I'd already be dead.
Literally nothing makes me more excited than seeing Ryan do a reaction video. Just love these vids
it just makes my heart warm to see the human race get together and help a person no matter the differences I'm halfway through so I don't know what happens hopefully he makes it out alive
We need more videos of reactions like this! It was really enjoyable to watch! I love it, definitely liking the video
Now now Ryan, while the idea of being caught in a bunch of rocks is rational and understandable, I'm sure this only happens when something goes wrong, I think.

I 100% agree.
When you screaming and asking of what sin that you did, they just answer,
"You help killing a man, by standing and sitting still, only thinking about how you can make fortune out of his missery"
??
That's why I repent and pray before I sleep
Oooo, I’m so excited, this cave video sounds good, I kinda love the fact this is kind of real, you’re the reason I stay calm, and stay happy, you’re awesome, love your content
i hope Ryan will react to more video's like this, it is so amazing and i hope for more, keep up the good work
I love Internet Historian's Costa Concordia video, and I'm surprised but happy that you're reacting to one of his videos. He has a pretty interesting style that definitely makes his content stand out.
I remember that story. My mother told it to me once before. Sucks that he died though. I'm glad he's finally at peace however.
6:34, you see, because of the music, all i see now, is a living hand running towards him as he struggles
Finally someone who recognizes the music. Are you ready for the third installment?
@@PiggyBonkers0309yes 🎉
Sick, tired, but yet my man still make react video 1 hour long...respect the determination....
you have been BLESSING us with your uploads recently
Oh dear. I can't imagen to be forced to stay in this situation for hours and hours. It's absolutely terrifing.
Please more videos like that.
Internet Historian is the absolute best. His pace might be glacial, but basically every video he ever makes is solid gold.
I have to agree, it's so weird seeing Wendigoon, Internet Historian and Ryan in the same video lol
I won't mind seeing Ryan react to a Wendigoon vid.
Please make more videos like this! I love listening to your reactions.

Ryan this was such a blast to watch. Love your videos man, you are a legend 🙏
If there isn't a movie based on this story I'd be surprised it does make for a great story
I’ve actually been to Mammoth caves ,honestly it was very big but some pieces of it was so tiny that I’m surprised anybody knew where anything was.💀
Sad how the man went out of this world, when the team could have literally dug in through the opposite side of the cave to remove the rock.
Bro survived more than 100 hours in only a small cave in minecr- I mean real life
Man I live with that lingering "sick but not sick"
I would say it impedes on my life.. if I didn't have it so long that my life has been shaped around it lmao
