Thank you for the video, I stood better what other people saying about booking one way at each time :-) But one way ticket is more expensive than booking a return trip. For instance, say a return flight cost £500, but when trying to book a single ticket, it cost over £1000. So I do not understand how people saving money this way. Am I misunderstanding something?

For cash tickets, it is often better to book returns. When using Avios, it can work out better to book two one ways due to the tax element. Also to guarantee avios seats, you must book one ways as soon as they are released.

Don’t you find BA is very London centric. It seems hard for people outside London to really benefit from avios in my opinion. What are your thoughts?

Take a look at Qatar airways routes. You can often fly Qatar from regional airports to Doha and beyond using avios. The taxes can be the only stumbling block as they don’t have the capped taxes like BA. But you can always fly from Dublin to Qatar to get lower taxes or just use Qatar on the return as the taxes are less coming in. Or you can decide to pay the taxes from uk as it might be worth it for what you get with Qatar which is a superior airline to BA
