Thanks, this is actually helpful. =] For some reason I prefer the second way to turn left because some drivers are so cray cray and treat cyclists like sh... I just got honked by a driver today to not take the lane and I was forced to go back to the bike lane... Thumbs down!
great video, it is also funny... now do not make me wrong I am just trying to make a constructive comment here, all these questions come up since my city has a similar type of infrastructure and we have all these problems and I do not want to sound like I'm trolling or anything like that but is important to rise these questions to improve things in the future. left turn as a vehicle. (given that a bicycle is smaller than a car and doesn't have a quick acceleration as a motorbike) 1. if the bike lane provides safety for cyclist while riding in the same direction as cars, what protects them when they try to join with moving motor traffic in an area that caters for drivers with multiple directions?. 2. how does this work at rush hour when car drivers tend to be more reckless and less courteous?. 3. if the waiting queue is long what encourages drivers to leave a gap to let the cyclist cross lanes?. 4. what reminds drivers that a cyclist could suddenly appear bearing left when a bus or truck is blocking their view?. 5. would an elder cyclist feel safe to do this maneuver? and would you let your kids do this? 6. wouldn't it be better to provide but traffic types a frontal view rather than a shoulder check view 7. Shouldn't bicyclist have a segregated place at the junction just as they have on the rest of the street? 8. if you are going to treat a cyclist as a motorist shouldn't you provide a car sized lane? Pedestrian left turn 1. what encourages waiting pedestrians to leave enough space for a cyclist to dismount and join them on the corner?. 2. why car drivers have preference over cyclist and pedestrians. forcing people to clog at the corner?
