A proper good man Rob Mac. A two wheeled legend of the day. His Rob Mac stories during lockdown kept many of the public pissing themselves laughing. Loved that, tho always do listening to rob. Brilliant.
I can’t believe he was racing as a 16 year old on a Honda 400/4! At the same time, I was riding a Suzuki GT380. Boy, these bikes were slooow. Heavy, but both sounded great. Still got the 380. Rob Mac is such a joy to listen to.
Schwantz grew up just an hour up the road from me and I was envious of him growing up with a Motorcycle Shop family but he’s the nicest guy in the world until the visor drops then he’s All Competitive Texan. Rob was great as well but I always wondered how such a big guy went so fast! Well done Boys.
I could listen to the older generations talking about racing the TT all day. It’s amazing what they used to do with the older bikes and technology. Incredible times to be alive back then 👏
Lovely local legends Don Briggs , Roger Marshall, Alec Baumber , Mick Grant that I’ve had the pleasure of meeting and such nice people . I feel privileged to have grown up around the same area ❤️
I remember seeing Rob Mac losing the plot going into dear leap out of control and going over the bars doing a handstand and hearing the bang as he hit the deck i swear you would have heard the noise of him hitting the deck in CHESTER I think that would have been in the late sixtys, STILL HEARING IT NOW IN 2023 hard as nails YOU BET.!!!
What a lovely guy Rob Mac is, we are the same age and I've been to races and watched him, always seen him as a serious and aloof person, but how wrong I was.
I'm too young to remember rob racing but after watching a few docs, I'm trying to buy all the races he races motogp. What a class guy. Untouchables pt 1 and 2 introduced me to big Rob and I want to see him ride in anger. I'm building a vast archive of motogp races and documentaries. Have a great day folks. Kevin got a spanking off him once when he was titting around apparently.
Such a glorious era of racing, wasn’t it? The Unrideables, the 500 strokers. Literally bloody lethal power band. I used to cheer the RGV500 Suzukis, being mad for the brand (always have been). The pair of race bikes used in the peak years, carrying 34 & 1, ridden by Kevin Schwantz & was it Wayne Rainey? They were red and white, sporting Lucky Strike livery. I don’t remember the year, but they were on display at my favourite Suzuki dealership, Robinson’s Foundry in Canterbury. My impression of those GP bikes was that they were tiny. I’m over six foot and I don’t think I could have got comfortable on one. Like jewellery, those machines, almost everything was custom made.
Great episode I cant wait for part 2, Rob was/is a right hard bugger, I remember seeing him pi$$ed celebrating a win saying to camera how car racers were puffs or words to that effect, pmsl
Rob's saying the same sort of thing as Davey Todd says about the TT, deliberately not pushing it, but still ending up going fast because of being so bike-fit from the short-circuit stuff done in the rest of the season.
… and my dad was working away! How many times did he say that. How many Dads do that these days and how many kids appreciate the sacrifices that Dads make to provide for their families. Proper working men doing shitty jobs in far away places to get ahead.
The question is will the IOM pay the difference out of its share when the public liability insurance threatens the future of the racing like Ireland is experiencing? None of the competitiors teams have the finance to pay 4 x the insurance costs. The silence around this combined with a new casino on the Island is deeply disturbing.
I’m afraid what we’re witnessing is the malign influence of the lying climate change narrative, perhaps WEF, because all the big corporates are represented there. Winch up the insurance, with a view to killing off the road racing feeder to the IOM TT. We might be watching the death of bike road racing in U.K., being done deliberately and without any nod to democracy. Why target motorcycle road racing? Because they’re individualistic people and they are examples of how to be a man in a woke world. Take Michael Dunlop. I can’t imagine him chanting “Transwomen are women”, can you?
Steve is great a winner 🏆 🥇 iam from DOUGLAS SO I. HAVE A LITTLE BIT OF WHAT THEY. GO THOUGH BORN. AND BREAD MANXMAN AND STILL CANT GET MY HEAD AROUND BRAYHILL STAY SAFE EVERYONE PAUL GREETINGS FROM THE ISLE OF MAN DOUGLAS
What did you ride & what year(s)? Is AHRMA still as supportive as ever? I’m a Brit, but a couple of mates raced to those US regulations. Mostly TZ, I think. One fella is Teaser on bike forums.

I smiled all the way through that, what a fantastic guy Rob is, a living legend !!
How good is Rob Mac at telling stories? Got us thru lockdown too. Great man👍
What a delight Rob Mac is. Brilliant to watch, both racing and chatting. “Lockdown hero”. 👍

what an lovely man , I must say most of the bike racers I have met are very down to earth.
Never realised Rob McElnea was so funny at telling stories - I nearly cried with laughter. 😂😂😂
wow what a ledge, I grew up with this guy's generation and still ride inspired by him....
Ditto, I’m about one year older than Rob Mac. He does look well, there’s a man at ease with himself.
Loved the chat, can't wait for part 2 so good!
Priceless. What a man.

I had a set of Crowtree Leathers (after Performance Bikes had many in their pages) They were great!
@@Desmo904 I still have mine but they don’t fit me now

Ronnie, wouldn't have been the sixties, he would have been a child, late 70's likely.

@@ronniehaworth4669 Keep her lit Ronnie! My dad was riding until he was 88, died at 95.

Cracking interview.
LOL loved this pod cast
Brilliant! So entertaining. In forty years time, you will never hear any such tales from today's coddled racers.
Brilliant, loved it. It felt like i was siting with an old firend.
Brilliant . Excellent tales
I write about the 260 lost lifes some weeks ago... Best race on earth
Plater should get to Cronk y Voddy. Watched there in 2017. Bikes are mind-meltingly fast there 180+ mph no bother.
Crikey, it’s just absurd doing that speed on the roads.
Nice storys....for those are living yet
Seems the only thing Rob and I have in common is crashing going to the grid!!!
