This is exactly the video I’ve been looking for. My rope is in the mail, and I’m really excited about starting (thanks to your insta) and I’ve been deterred from things I was excited about before from injury at the beginning. I really want to be smart and protect my body. Really thorough and excellent video. Thanks Lauren.

Yup. Overdid it in the early stages. My knees are shot. I just wanted to get some intensity into my routine and learn new skills by going for 30 min or so. But been out of it for a couple weeks now and my knees still bad. Glad I found this video. It's very useful to know these things!

Brand spankin new jumper here.... I made it two days in a row and limped around the rest of the week because of my calves and feet. I bought myself an exercise mat today and plan to be diligent with stretching this week. Thank you for the videos, I look forward to more!

probably since the age of ten or twelve I have consistently had knee pain while doing any sport and often just during rest. Its because of the joint not being in the correct position and it is better when I'm fitter and have more muscle that supports the joint. I have had to give up on sports that I've loved and that I used to do with people who are close to me so it's very frustrating. I've been determined to start rope jumping which seems counterintuitive because it can lead to knee pain but i believe if done right it can strengthen the knee. I've been starting a couple weeks ago but I'm always looking for people like you who are really experienced who share their knowledge.
So if you still see this comment on a year old video, thank you. Your video is super handful and your other videos are a big motivation for me

Perfect timing as I am currently resting my injury. I discovered that one leg was really weak from an old injury so when I started jumping rope all the stress went to the other leg and I hurt it. Physical therapy helped build the weak leg up but then I tried to jump a little bit when the "good" leg wasn't fully recovered and I re-injured it. Now I am trying to practice non jumping rope exercises while I impatiently wait for recovery of the "good" leg. Thanks for showing these.

Thank you, great info. From what you are saying, my patellar tendon pain was from jumping too much, way too much. I started out doing 20-30mins once or even twice a day. It got to the state where my knees were in bits. Took months to heal. I strength train and cycle a lot so it shows that overuse can definitely still be an issue. I am going to get a bead rope and restart, 5mins a few times a week and build up.

this in of itself should tell you lots about this lady -- all she has said is relatable --
there are lots of things you can work on without jumping which are the basis of the tricks you so want and can see yourself doing
-- so yes you can have your 30mins plus that you have set aside ( jumping being the smallest amount) rest days = skill training (no jumping) remember injury down time=less jump time
also when have you seen lauren jump for a long time? no vids on that --- that should tell you something and yet from the smile she has when doing so, well there we go the reason she does it

Hi! I came across your Channel after I decided to start Jump Roping. My Rope's Scheduled to get here Tomorrow, so I've been using the Wait Time to gain some Knowledge about it. I wish I'd seen your "Jump Rope Types" before I Ordered, but Oh Well. However, the 1 Beginner Video I seen was doing Increments of 1Min to start, for 10Mins... So, 1Min Jumping, 1Min Resting in a Deep Squat, then 1Min Jumping, 1Min Deep Squat, etc etc etc. I'm going that'll be a Good Way to get acquainted w/ Jump Roping again. LOVE YOUR CHANNEL!

I started to learn shuffling December last year. Shuffled for months in the winter days at home, cause I didn't go to the gym. Had to rest for a back injury. I was shuffling for at least an hour each evening in the beginning due to the high interest and having fun. 5 days a week. Throughout the months I had some pain here and there, but one specific spot was building a problem very slowly each day the last two months till April. I went on a basketball tournament and aggravated it alot - it turned out a plantar fasciitis. Now I'm OK, but when I shuffle for a new song at home and it is still there. These tendonitis are very stubborn, so do whatever it takes not to develop them. Ice, some cooling creams right after training. I just bought a rope, so I'll learn this skill. I have 50% of the equation - the shuffle moves. Now I have to put them in the jump rope cage :D

Thanks for sharing. This really helps- especially for newbies. Normally, I jump one day and rest one day ( I had started to jump from Oct 2020). I think my body had been used to what I did each day. But I still have my knees pained sometimes. This might be because of the injury of running that I did years ago. For now, I used to wear the knee pads and jumped on the Yoga Mat. Before jumping, I took 2 minutes to warm my body up. After 5-8 minutes jump rope, I spent 2 minutes to rest my body. Even though I still can feel my knee pained. After watching your video, I realized that I should use some things- like message gun to release my leg's muscle. Thanks again.

I'm old, out of shape, overweight and barefooted. I did one rotation like I was in a boxing gym and caught the tips of my toes. I had an issue with my right knee. And I refused to stop but to cope from overuse, I immediately after finishing and showering I’d put an ice pack on and bring down the swelling. I did this until I built up resistance and my knee recovered. Shin pain wasn’t too bad that I couldn’t jump through the pain. Stretching helps a lot. Especially for the calves. Point is don’t make excuses, find a solution to keep going.

I've just started jumping, but I've done a TON of running in minimalist shoes on the balls of my feet (rather than heel striking), so my knees, calves, and shins are fine, but I'm getting a bit of an anterior ankle impingement (but only occasionally). Not sure if it's just overuse, slightly poor form, or possibly some bone spurs from just age and poor diet for the past couple years. Dunno, might have to get it checked out.

I was averaging way more than normal just because I thought I could move straight into doing jumping roping, like 30-minute sessions a day. Ma,am my height is 5.5 feet and weight is 69 kg I have been playing volley ball for almost two months but when landing after taking jump, there is pain in left knee, it seems that the leg has been pushed backwards I used to play volley ball earlier too but the pain never happened. Has my weight become too much according to height or is there some other reason, if there is a problem of weight, then how much weight will I have to lose?
