- Sleep is very important for your health. Which is why Hypnos is very important to me. He is also Mother Nyx's baby boy. Hail Sleep Incarnate.
To the small minority that requested for a Hypnos (ik you're out there), you're fortunate that I love Lord Hypnos too.

He has been doing his job long enough that he became a world expert on snarking you about how stupidly you died. I must wonder what he told Hades when the latter kept getting defeated by Zagreus, given Hades must have come back by the Pool of Blood, surely he wasn't spared by Hypnos' lines, even when they talk, you can see that Hypnos is in his little world. XD
She's like this with Skelly/Schelemeus too lol
I can't tell if Charon is saying Hypnos is doing something important while he is asleep or if he is saying Hypnos is so useless that being asleep is the most useful state he can be in
I’m going to assume former versus latter . Clearly the three of them are really close despite it all! If chrnos got out and woke how have the others not woken up? Clearly he’s keeping them asleep.
@@chaoticlady_fairy I tend to agree. It would be odd to include him so prominently in the crossroads if he was just meant to be a gag.
My crazy theory is he's taken Zag and perhaps some of the others who were trapped by Chronos and put them in a dream realm. Zag has been training in that realm using the memories of his escapes or perhaps even some of the others this whole time so the moment he gets out it'll be Hell to pay. I think that would be cool.
@@seedsmyth A cool idea, but I can't imagine they would let Zag be the hero of this story. It's pretty clear Mel is the protagonist. If Zag is going to be present or playable, it will be because Mel rescued him in some way.

It's very possible! Over the years, I hope Hypnos has found a greater role, and I'd imagine his power has only grown.
Hypnos can affect the dreams and nightmares of others while he’s asleep in mythology. He’s literally at his most useful when he’s sleeping.

It's worth noting that Ambrosia and Nectar specifically smell, and taste, like happy memories. Hypnos may not have been good at his job, but he clearly enjoyed it.

It’s interesting that Mel is so drawn to Hypnos considering he is the God of sleep and she is the goddess of nightmares.
Imagine getting Hypnos to 6/7 nectar, you give him ambrosia, he wakes up "Titan's are waking", Melinöe is confused "What? What do you mean? We have so many questions for you" "Titan's are waking" he drinks the whole bottle in front of Melinöe in a big gulp, going fast asleep again.
Lmao, the quest for more nectar to have him elaborate.
I remember reading a comment somewhere that hypothesized Hypnos being asleep not by curse or from outside interference but by choice. He might be in the dream world holding back some other titans that began waking after Chronos rose from tartarus. In which case he has been fighting all alone holding back one or more dangerous entities in a desperate attempt to help the only way he really can. Waking up would shatter what little power he still has over the slumbering titans and possibly unleash all manner of world ending threats. Charon would probably know this as his boat can travel to the realm of dreams but chooses not to tell anyone since knowing wouldn't really make any difference other than cause more panic.
I hope so, because I feel otherwise i feel it's hypnos staying asleep to avoid becoming a burden during this time of war
it has been shown that he's been able to hold anyone to sleep, even other gods like hades. who knows what kind of power he'd have while in his own element, like a capital G god to anyone asleep.
It's either that or Charon is saying that Hypnos would just get in the way if he was awake.
@@beastslayer8729 My read was Hypnos getting in the way, but it would provide a double meaning if Hypnos was being more productive in the dreamscape. and I do want Hypnos to have his moment too.
I mean, he could potentially not be /all/ alone. Morpheus could be there, and perhaps he's also safeguarding the spirits of the Fates?
It's so funny that Melinoe doesnt know hypnos at all and respects him and deifies him so much

it's funny how everyone, including not only a lot of players but even characters in the game, as well as the narrator, forget about the fact that in the first game hypnos single handedly literally put EVERYONE BUT ZAGREUS AND NYX in the house of hades to sleep, and just how casually it was mentioned in the game. he might be a silly boy but it was clearly stated he is very powerful in his domain. so mel was so goddamn right when she praised him, i am sure
Sleep is the little death. He's just as inevitable as Thanatos, except mortals only meet Than once.

The art says a lot about Hypnos's situation, it tells the story well ^ My favorite is the flowers under him, almost like people have been mourning for him.

I really like the touch of somberness in Nemesis's voice. It's so different and contrasting against her usual snark and snide remarks that you immediately notice it. Really shows that even if they didn't interact much, she still loves him a lot because he's her brother, and very much doesn't enjoy him being in this state. I think the same's for Charon as well, and Melinoe is just misunderstanding him. He might be trying to make a joke, but it could also imply that Hypnos is genuinely doing something important in his sleep. Either way, I think they did a good job of displaying the melancholy around Hypnos and how NOBODY is liking him being asleep, not for this long.

If I remember correctly Hypnos once used his “domain” (no not that fucking way as in his domain is basically sleep itself, he is the god of slumber and restful sleep if I recall fully) to calm and send a Titan or a giant to sleep for eternity. I’m convinced he’s doing this now to keep something like a Titan, or worse the giants themselves asleep. The children of Gaia are dangerous alone, together they can be worse than natural disasters in the myths.
I’m buying this theory more and more. I hope to meet Gaia too. The only question is how Hypnos survived the attack on the House?
@@Hamstir4 if I had to take a stab at it I’d say you can really stop sleep, everything even the gods and titans couldn’t escape sleep. Then again I haven’t had much of a chance to play hades 2 so maybe Hypnos is somehow secretly a badass when asleep like the kid in epithet erased.
@@Hamstir4 also I hope Gaia stays away she’s the one primordial god who’d scare me the most, nyx seems reasonable, Charon is sometimes charitable, Gaia? You try to do anything she would put you down and keep you down, though maybe the heroes of Olympus series of books shaped my perspective on it a bit.
Hecate has a dialogue where Mel asks how the picture got there. Hecate mebtions she was only able to get the picture Mel, and hypnos out because of he three aspects… and because Hypnos was just there at the time

Bit of a downer for me. I always liked the mystery of whether Zagreus understood Charon or was just messing with him. But alas, his sister isn't one to make such jokes.
See during my time in the first game I noticed that Hypnos actually wanted to be a hard worker and once he learned he could make his own lists he started getting a lot done in the hopes of getting a little bit of praise, So I ABSOLUTELY believe he's doing his best to keep other titans trapped in dreams

Lowkey love and hate that hypnos is the neurodivergent experience (literally the god of smth that keeps pretty much every living organims functioning and sane but he acts weird/isnt traditionally productive so everyone shits on him including his family lol)

In Hades 1 I saw him and I loved him.
He's so relatable in an opposite kinda way. I'm very hyper and always have to be doing something(other than what I'm supposed to do) and barely get any sleep.

The idea of Hypnos never moving an inch for 90% of the game, but suddenly waking with a jolt the moment you free Nyx and Thanatos, makes me want to cry.

Yeah, he has a lot of kids. The three most prominent ones are Morpheus, for dreams of men, Icelus, for dreams of beasts, and Phantasus, for dreams of inanimate things.

In the first game Hypnos was powerful enough to put a spell of sleeping on the entire house of Hades right? I like to think that by sleeping he is doing something that we can't see, maybe keeping some greater entity or entities asleep. Perhaps keeping a titan such as Iapetus at bay in Tartarus by force.
I’m beginning to think there is much more content for the full release and Hypnos may literally be a ticking time bomb if he wakes from Mel.
