I just went through this with my 2011 Sequoia - uses the same two-switch, four-pin brake switch. There are two internal switches. Pin 1 & 2 are open, and 3 & 4 are closed when the pedal is NOT pressed. And the reverse when the pedal is pressed. Keep in mind that the switch button is pressed only when the pedal is not pressed.
In my case, pins 3 & 4 were only intermittently closing when the pedal was released. On Toyotas, P0504 happens if both switches report the same signal (either both closed or both open) at the same time for more than 0.5 seconds. In theory, that should never happen - unless the contacts have become worn/corroded/bent. I was able to disassemble the switch and clean the 3 & 4 contacts with brake cleaner and some paper towels. I also bent the moving contacts ever so slightly to force more contact against the stationary contacts. After reassembly, I had a solid continuity tone on both pairs of pins. Problem resolved immediately. I ordered a replacement switch from Amazon as a backup should this repair fail.

How did you manage to remove the brake switch so easily like this? I couldn't remove mine. It is so hard like it can't even be removed

@@JM-AUTO thanks Boss, I decided to check the brake light fuse and discovered that it is blown. Just by replacing it I could get the car out of park easily.

@@adeosunoluwaseyi6437 My error P0504 initially appeared periodically, and at one point the lever of the box was blocked and the brake lights stopped burning. Here I think maybe I should also take a look at the fuse first, maybe I'll be lucky)
