I noticed this aswell. Usually don't see Adam actually enjoying himself much throughout mankind divided, but here he's actually smiling when watching baseball, and the quick back and forth between him and Pritchard is a testament to their "friendship". One of the most enjoyable cutscenes from the game, I think.
@@am-bush679 Biggest missed opportunity of Mankind Divided, not having Pritchard, Sarif and Malik return. They made Human Revolution what it was, as much as Adam did. The whole point of Pritchard was to have a character who dislikes you, then becomes your friend over the course of the game. As for Malik, there's even hints of a potential romance or deep bond, at least that's how I interpreted it. Instead, we were sent back to absolute square one with new characters nobody liked, like Chikane and Vega. No snarky bickering with Pritchard, just open hostility from Adam in a DLC mission, which completely contradicts the progress their partnership made in the previous game. Pritchard at the end of HR was genuinely concerned about Adam, yet in MD, Adam is openly low-key hostile and essentially an asshole to Francis for no damn reason. There's a distinct line between broodingly not trusting people (Adam in HR) and being awful to them because some less talented new writer thought that's what defines coolness. And Malik? Gone. Instead of committing to established characters and being interested in growing them, making her survival canon, all we got was a quote on a fucking cereal box. And constant assholery from Chikane beginning to end, with no character development to speak of. I always thought it felt like MD had an entirely new writing team except for the lead, who then gave them a rough rundown of the previous game and that's what they took to "write" these characters. Same with Megan, what a waste not exploring her further after she was the literal focal point of HR! We get one.... ONE cutscene where Adam hears her voice again, and she's openly in cahoots with Bob Page, almost too much for Adam to take. How juicy and thick a chance for a great subplot. But naaahhh. Here's a psychologist who serves no good purpose in the whole game ever if we're being honest, yet in the end is apparently an Illuminati member. What. And as for Alex Vega, what exactly was the point of her character? She didn't replace Francis, she didn't contribute anything except the occasional flavor talk... so why was she there? Oh, that's right - she's Adam's connection to Janus - who's 10 times more interesting than her, but also never really shown. Nathaniel Brown is irrelevant, a plot device, a MacGuffin character serving no purpose other than giving Adam a reason to go to London. Easily the most underdeveloped character of the franchise. Sequel-baiting: The Game. (And don't get me started that Brown, who we don't care about at all, can also die, which automatically sends the whole plot back to square one AGAIN if there is a sequel!) And would it have killed the devs having Sarif reappear significantly - at the convention in London for example? So many story threads that are never resolved. Urch. All of these new characters were shoehorned in to promote the "Deus Ex Universe" SE wanted so badly. Rarely have I seen a sequel that had *everything* going for it, then underperformed so poorly in terms of overall quality due to publisher interference. Which is insane, because in itself, the game is amazing. It's just way too short, feels like it was hacked to bits, and the complete 180 on all these stories and plot points introduced in HR just leaves you with a fucking sour taste in your mouth if you care one bit about decent writing. Absolutely awful as a HR sequel. Sure, it picked the general story up and even took that in an interesting direction. The setting, the gameplay, the art design? Near flawless. But at the same time, it ignored most of the consequences that would have come with the stories and elements and characters that made HR great. Nay, in fact, it actively chose to not pursue them further, which was either sheer laziness, cluelessness, or both. If that makes sense, idk. Thanks for coming to my TED talk lol.
@@MioRaem I think Malik and Adam may have slept together. She left a note on the bottom of an almost empty cereal box in his apartment and it's probably not 2 year old cereal. There's a romance there if they ever return.
Man does Adam own any shirts lmao Also Elias, I loooooooove how you played him here! I just love that he basically has a more developed personality now compared to HR, and all the little manerisms you added and way he speaks is just wonderful. U did a good job, dude.
Shirts probably were always a pain for him with his prosthetics, easier to just not wear any unless its clothing meant for him to wear. Its also why he wears loose sweatpants.
I love the intro scene. Jensen looks so chill, so lifelike, and I love the way the look on his face changes to this satisfied smirk to a confused frown and then he puts his "Hello Francis" face on... :D I have said it before, and I will say it again, Jensen feels so real thanks to a certain Toufexis effect!! :D I love it!!
Great work from everyone involved with that opening. I do like that Adam has come out of his emotive barrier a bit. As the trailers basically said, it's time to embrace what you've become. Making the most of a situation can certainly relax a person.
As we know, his body is 50% augmented (mostly limbs) and 50% of it is still biological. The Sentinel Health System may prevent the negative effects from smoking, but I don't believe it affects his tolerance to alcohol. When you take alcohol in game, in HR or MD, he has blurry vision. He eats cereal because it's high in sugar, the fructose (along with energy bars and biocells) fuels his augs. He drinks black coffee (an indication that caffeine still has an impact) The only "brain" aug we know him to have is the social enhancer, which I don't think would affect his alcohol tolerance. His augs have clearly affected his psyche, he seems much more sombre and lone wolfish after his surgery. Still, from this scene I observe him ot be just as likely to get drunk as you or I.
Adam never really said he owes Pritchard - not the way he said it here, but Adam knows he owes Pritchard a big favour. Pritchard had a really cool hideout in Detroit which he had to move out. They aren't exactly friends, but they have been through a lot together which makes them comrades in a changing world.
He was the head of IT for a giant multinational corporation. He was likely making a very good paycheck, now he's out of the job. Perhaps he took to the booze? Perhaps life's been hard for him. Not everyone can instantly fall back into work like Jensen did.
This is perhaps the most lively I've seen Aaaaaaaaaaaadam, and I guess we could assume it's because he finds Pritchard annoying as fuck, but a guy he has to put up with because he's damn good at what he does, and his word is reliable.
I wish they could have been more brave about the DLC and just had it take place after the end of the game. The way this game ends, it could totally work that way without a ton of effort.
