I fell in love with the Band The Outlaws the very first time they came to Los Angeles! I went to every Southern California concert they had up through the early 1990's. God, what a band! Them, Skynard, and Charlie Daniels! Hughie Thomasson and, Billy Jones were two of my all-time favorite Guitar duos! They complemented each other so well! I was so sad when Billie was asked to leave!
I had the pleasure of seeing Hughie play this song in person at the High Falls in Rochester, NY, Party InThe Park. I believe he passed away that September, only a couple of months later. Damn I miss his musical talent. There will never be another one like him!

If you recall HT said that night "new song, bear with us if we make a mistake, we've been practicing it". and they nailed it. sadly passed only a few months later. so happy to see "Once an Outlaw" sitting on UA-cam and not in the can. should have been released a long time ago.
Was a great band.. Along with all the other great southern rock bands.. Seen the band many times late 70s until 80’s but the most Rememberable time was right after he left Lynyrd Skynyrd 2005 and got the Outlaws back together saw them at Ram Heads Baltimore Maryland which Hardly anyone knew about very few people that night maybe a 100 or two, me and my buddies of 50 years got to talk with Hughie and band for an hour but Henry paul just walk on by didn’t stop to say hey..
All the Henry Paul nay sayers should thank him for keeping Outlaws music alive. Let's not forget that Hughie quit the Outlaws and sold out to join Skynyrd for the money. Hughie abandoned the Outlaws, Henry kept the spirit alive.
I call bullshit too. HP screwed over Hughie's widow very badly. Selfish ex-bandmates stealing a group name that doesn't belong to them is evil and got off on technicalities and/or bad Thomasson widow's lawyers. Hughie WROTE most of the best tunes. No Hughie = No Outlaws.
I disagree. The best albums the Outlaws ever released Henry Paul was with the band. Soldiers of Fortune is a latter example. I just saw him in concert this past weekend and the Outlaws sounded fantastic.
@@kennethzimmerer8888 thers 2 sides, Henry was there early on and is also a good song writer who had a solo career and wrote a lot of good songs. maybe something went wrong between HP and HT's widow. I think HP should toast to HT at every show and he doesn't. but I am glad that he keeps the Outlaws alive. I saw them recently and they were good but it never be like it was when HT was with the HE WAS THE MAN. Miss you HT I will always support the Outlaws

I Agree. Had the privilege of seeing him in cleveland 6 months before he passed. Made my Life.Been a fan since 1975 till now.
