Intense! I wonder what my daughter would think of this!!! She wouldn't be able to fly the drone, but just letting her see things from that perspective would be interesting!!!
my injury happened when I was 8, I loved the wheelchair sports, my parents however felt the way you did. So I didn't get to attend accessible summer camps or competitive sports, rugby, basketball, or tennis. They didn't want attention put on their disabled kid, They did apologize for it when I was in my 30's saying "they just wanted me to have a normal life" and not hang out with cripples. Yay
@@ShadeMiller ...honestly, I suspect the doctors, physiotherapists and counsellors told them during my rehab. We're Canadian a lot of support is available for young people for free. Or at least it was back then. I try not to think about it, or how my life would have been different. It doesn't matter anymore. unfortunately, apologies just don't fix it.
that was awesome! I've been wanting to get in to drone racing for years but living near an airport makes it hard since flying one around here is illegal, but now just thinking about got my power assist on wheelchair maybe i could get out west away from the planes and find some places to do it.
Love that I came across this! I’m a C7 quad 9 years post. I fly drones like these and others for work. It’s a great hobby. Even with weaker hand function I can fly do don’t let that stop anyone from checking it out!
@Wheels2Walking I got into flying fpv drones and planes back in 2016. I love it, it's such an inclusive sport and I feel so free. I had the exact same feelings towards wheelchair sports in my 20s and now I'm late thirties I found myself getting involved in these sports again and wished i did it when I was younger. I think it might be a mindset thing. In my 20s I cared a lot more about what people thought of me and their perception. I also think I was still angry and getting used to my new life. Now I'm older with kids I don't care what people think, I just wanna do what makes me and my family happy. Hope you're well and keep doing what you're doing.
I discovered Google Earth street view and go on virtual road trips everywhere and visit old haunts that my chair can’t access. It’s like a drone for me 😃 I use it on my most symptomatic days during the winter. Also it’s free on any device. The little things 👩🏽🦽🦹♂️
I play Wheelchair Rugby League, which is a mixed sport - all genders, all abilities. A lot of the guys on my team aren't in a chair during their daily life, but they get in the chair to play the sport. Its cool because its a great bonding opportunity for people with disabled friends or family members to play together. We have a pair of brothers, one with CP one able bodied, and once they're strapped in its a level playing field. Another team in our league has a father/son duo with a similar story - one disabled, one able bodied. So if anyone is looking for a mixed sport, WRL is a good choice. And its super competitive as well, lots of smashing together and weaseling around each other to score tries :D
This looks like so much fun! I am terrible at video games and remote controls like required here, I would crash this thing all the time. But I am sure doing it with others in a competition with a route, tasks to do etc this will be much fun!
my disabilities are cerebellar atrophy and hypokalemia periodic paralysis which means i have balance issues and sometimes i just wake up paralyzed. and hearing your story is like 'what?!' and seeing you do the things you do, its like 'I have no right to complain... like what I've been through is elementary compared to yours' 😁😁 keep up the good work and keep inspiring 👍👍👍
I started out with a $20 drone learning to fly acro line of sight. If you want to jump up to something with a camera to fly acro the Emax Tinyhawk 2. It’s about $200 but it comes with batteries, goggles, and a controller.
bro you have got top chill with the super loud music interludes, it is hell on those of us who might have sensory issues or wear hearing aides , or those who have strong startle reflex, , not to mention highly annoying having to turn up the speakers to hear you talk, then quickly turn down the speakers when that music starts blaring, come on bro, accessibility, loud jarring music is not fun for everyone, that aside, i do enjoy adrenaline, ( flying, skiing, hockey, roller coasters, ) and this drone racing seems badass !!
I'm not saying I could do better but wasn't at least part of the problem that you were looking down all the time? At least, that's what I saw in your video.
Loved the Mario sound when the drone was booted up
yes !!!

that's so sad, but they likely didn't know any better

They wanted the best for you they just didn't know what it was.
The smile when he says "powered up" :D he knows what's coming :D 5:24

Boom, Crash, Repeat! ... lol it was fun to watch though!

Best video yet would never be able to afford some of the epic stuff you do but love watching your videos

Great show guys! Thanks for bringing even more info on things we can do to bring excitement to our lives. 👍👍💪💪😁

That's soooo cool.
I was flying these a few years back but haven’t flown for ages
I still think whitewater paddling would be a great option for you, since you have core strength.
This looks like so much fun!
Saw a competition about a year ago on ESPN. Thought it was pretty cool.

you can get DJI FPV flies automatically :)
Looks so fun! I’ve always wanted to try it 😁🤘🏼
Cool video and thanks for sharing
Cool so much fun I loved it great video..
This is SO cool! I gotta get one!!
AWESOME, I FAIL at drones lol 😆 They are way harder to fly then most people think! Definitely takes a huge learning curve!

Thank you for making this video. The video was very good.
Been doing Quads (Drones) for the last few years, I'm awful at racing but decent enough at freestyle.
Cool video 🤘
Nice
Looks super fun and expensive.
You shoud get a hunting dog to bring you drones when you crash them! :) Awesome to see how amazing are FPV drones.
First try on acro mode with a real quad, you got a brave friend. I'd stick you on a simulator for 12 hours first.
FPV is the new skateboarding. These guys roll in on their fancy skateboards at a place they're not supposed to be. Quad bashing is the grinding.
Glad to see my epic heartbreaking failsafe was left out oof the footage. RIP quad.
why dont u use a pivot lever wheelchair? what are its disadvantage/s compared to the one ur using now?
Hi there, where can I look for drone kit as seen on the video? Regards
I fly a Catalyst Machineworks 5” Merica but a good starter drone is a Emax Tinyhawk 2
@@keybrent64 thanks, will look for those
cool
Awesome video but now I have some serious vertigo lol
Wow he's flying manual actually on the first time :D :D
recovery drone with grappling hook needed
Suhweet! They need to make a controller for quads
I’ve seen posts from quads where they have modified the controller for their use. Checkout @impact.overland on Instagram.
Hit me up! I know a guy who knows a guy and we can figure out how to do it 👍🏼
You fly it like a plane lol
..I need VR in my life :O
What is the cost to get into this?

He would not have a drone left if I were at the controls.
It’s also fun to rebuild them after you break them

When did you start saying bad words
How is this new exactly? They just connected a drone to the goggles? Its been around for a bit
