Wow what a year 2023 has been! Between getting very ill with being pregnant, plus building our VW Crafter Camper Van, then having a new baby it's been pretty wild! We've had some amazing trips this year and made some huge progress on the van build and we're really proud of what we've achieved.

I did exactly the same as you when I did the floor myself in 2015. I tilled mine with vinyl kitchen tiles from b&q. I was using a loose futon as a bed back then. Since we had kids I had the floor replaced and a RIB bed fitted on rails. The floor is a proper one but tbh it’s still cold. Might be fun to aim one of those Pizza oven thermometers on each and see what the reading is… Probably with the air temp in and out at the same level for consistency. I reckon quite a lot of cold comes in from the windows. EyesOpen do these amazing 4 season covers that are pricey but very good quality.

I built my T5.1 and assumed that when I bought my LWB Crafter that it would be the same. Im using a converter and it is still taking 3 months to build. It’s so much more van, so much more cost. But will be so much more worth it. Keep at it guys!!!!

Looking back over the year, I think my favourite was the Goodwood. I still enjoy the building processes too. Being up North some content is too southern but that's geography and I have Yorkshire Pop Top. Best wishes for 2024. I love watching your family grow. Don't be afraid to include family life as I'm sure there are wannabe campers who are not sure how they might cope. Cheers, Mark Louth

Don’t question whether you did the right thing with the floor - having lived in a single skin Hymer Motorhome during winter, I have first hand experience at just how miserable and cold a cold floor can make you when you’re in a van.
Ah that’s a good point. Yeah it’s probably best to have done it rather than regret not doing it.

What weight you coming in at with a fully loaded van? I have mine ready in around 6 weeks and am a little worried its gonna break the 3.5 t limit i have on my license. Have you got s c1 on your license or just a standard licemse?
I’m going to get it weighed soon and see how it’s going. I’m not sure yet. I do have a C1 license but the van is only rated at 3.5t so it would require up plating if I need it to take more weight
I'm in the process of doing a crafter and decided to not insulate the floor as didn't do it in the t5. If it gets cold il just put the heater on

What has happened to the Cabbunk installation? Has that been removed?
It doesn’t stay in permanently. It has to be removed to swivel the seats and drive so it’ll be used when Harvey is a little older and we are travelling
