Hey, Sam. Nice to see someone trying to work better, not harder. I've seen a good use of those plastic IBC tubs. They were cut diagonally and used as a two sloped roof for IBC frame. Helps to keep that wood dry.
Yeah, optimization is like a puzzle. Everybody like solving puzzles :) Was looking at you stacking that wood into IBC and was thinking, maybe NOT stacking would be better? You would need much more IBCs, but would save on labour. And labour is money. IBC with would, that is not stacked, would be lighter. Thus, your tractor could lift them up and pour wood directly into back of your truck. You could add several hand loaded buckets on top of all this, in necessary.
Nice process! Saving your back is important. And the more I watch your videos I'm realizing I need a tractor like yours! I also like the closeup shots. Good work Sam, as always!
Thank you and welcome to the channel! I'm just starting to try to grow from a hobby to a business. Growth is slooooow, but that's okay. You will get a lot of variety from my channel. Enjoy! 🤠👍
Sam you are like a well oiled machine. Learning as you go along. You are working smarter, not harder. Love your channel. Thanks for another video. Take care my friend.
Sam great vlog as per usual. I noticed that your chainsaw protective trousers (left leg) seem to have been caught at some point by the chainsaw, must have been pretty scary if that did happen. If you have time, a brief on that incident (if it happened) would be welcomed as they’re a pretty dangerous pieces of equipment. Thanks again 🇬🇧👍
Thank you! Yes, there is a bit of damage to the outside layer. I'm about to get started today. I'll mention how that happened. And, you're right, those things are very dangerous. Safety first! 🤠👍
Well done video. I came from the manufacturing world and we were constantly trying to be as efficient as possible. one of our mantras was handle it once. Looks to me like you handle each piece of wood multiple times. Using a pallet to stack and transport the rounds is an example of that. I think you could improve your process if you could somehow reduce the number of times you have to handle the wood.
Thank you! I personally don't count it as handling the wood if a machine moves it. I like having the option of working outside when it's nice and inside when it's not. The pallets and ibc cages are a major upgrade to my process but I'm always thinking of ways to improve 🤠👍
Starting a video with no comment is always a bad idea.... 6minutes and 28 seconds of no commenting or talking to us, it's like we are being ignored, no welcome, nothing, really! First time I was ever disappointed in a video, I'm sure I'm not alone.
Isn't that Stihl chain sharpener the greatest! I used to hate sharpening my chain with a single file. However, bucking for me entails being alongside the mountain with rounds rolling along jagged rocks. No tractor or ATV can even traverse the ground.
Yes! That Stihl sharpener is a game changer. I've also started using a dremel tool for quick touch ups. I'm really concentrating on using my machines (tractor) for every step that I can 🤠👍
That Sam, always the sharpest tool in the barn.
Haha! You've got a good one every time. Love it 🤠👍
Splitting firewood is hard work, but it looks like you made it a lot easier on yourself! Good job!
Thank you! Never stop thinking 🤠👍

Thank you! I've seen that too. Always thinking of better ways. It doesn't always pan out, but when it does, I love it 🤠👍

Thanks Mike! You definitely need a tractor. That little thing is such a workhorse 🤠👍
New subscriber here. Enjoyed your video. Always looking to improve my operation too. The pallets are a good idea. I’ll be watching.

🤔🤔 In between cutting and delivering wood ya better get your snowplow ready. Seen & heard parts of Ohio might get some !!😲😲🌨️🌨️
Thank you! Round these parts we tend to believe it when we see it. I think I'm ready either way 🤠👍
I would tighten the chain before filing it, and tighten a little bit more.
Thanks for the advice 🙏 🤠👍

You are running your chan to loose.Adjust your chain so that it has contact to the bottom of your bar all the way a cross.
Thanks for the tip! 🤠👍
